m6A modification-mediated BATF2 suppresses metastasis and angiogenesis of tongue squamous cell carcinoma through inhibiting VEGFA.

Cell Cycle

January 2023

Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, The First People's Hospital of Chenzhou (Affiliated Chenzhou Hospital, Southern Medical University), Chenzhou, Hunan, China.

The aim is to explore the underlying mechanism of basic leucine zipper ATF-like transcription factor 2 (BATF2) in tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). The expression of BATF2 in TSCC tissues and corresponding adjacent normal TSCC tissues, human TSCC cell lines (SCC-15 and CAL-27) and human normal tongue epithelial cells NTEC was detected. Then, SCC-15 cells with stable BATF2 knockdown and CAL-27 cells with BATF2 overexpression were established to investigate the functional effect of BATF2 on TSCC.

Background: Thrombocytopenia, an early common complication in heatstroke (HS), has been widely considered as a mortality predictor of HS. The mechanism underlying thrombocytopenia in HS remains unknown. It is not known whether NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is activated in HS platelet, which, in turn, induces platelet activation and thrombocytopenia.

Research on early warning of renal damage in hypertensive patients based on the stacking strategy.

BMC Med Inform Decis Mak

August 2022

Department of Anesthesiology, Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, 410013, China.

Background: Among the problems caused by hypertension, early renal damage is often ignored. It can not be diagnosed until the condition is severe and irreversible damage occurs. So we decided to screen and explore related risk factors for hypertensive patients with early renal damage and establish the early-warning model of renal damage based on the data-mining method to achieve an early diagnosis for hypertensive patients with renal damage.

Non-coding RNAs in lung cancer: emerging regulators of angiogenesis.

J Transl Med

August 2022

Institute of Clinical Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, Hengyang, 421001, Hunan, People's Republic of China.

Lung cancer is the second cancer and the leading cause of tumor-related mortality worldwide. Angiogenesis is a crucial hallmark of cancer development and a promising target in lung cancer. However, the anti-angiogenic drugs currently used in the clinic do not achieve long-term efficacy and are accompanied by severe adverse reactions.

: A Novel Molecular Biomarker Predicts Tumor Microenvironment, Molecular Subtype, and Prognosis in Bladder Cancer.

Dis Markers

August 2022

Department of Anesthesiology, The Third Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, 410008 Hunan, China.

Background: Thioesterase superfamily member 6 () has been implicated in the development and progression of various cancers. However, prior research emphasized on its regulatory role merely, we aim to investigate the effect of gene on the immunological role and its relationship with molecular subtype in bladder cancer (BLCA).

Methods: Through pan-cancer analysis, we explored the expression pattern and immunological role using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database.

High Mobility Group A1 (HMGA1): Structure, Biological Function, and Therapeutic Potential.

Int J Biol Sci

July 2022

Institute of Clinical Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, Hengyang, Hunan, 421001, PR China.

High mobility group A1 (HMGA1) is a nonhistone chromatin structural protein characterized by no transcriptional activity. It mainly plays a regulatory role by modifying the structure of DNA. A large number of studies have confirmed that HMGA1 regulates genes related to tumours in the reproductive system, digestive system, urinary system and haematopoietic system.

The number and function of circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) decreased in stable coronary artery disease. Nevertheless, there were few studies that explored the variation of EPC and the relationship with the severity of coronary artery lesions in unstable angina (UA). Therefore, this leaves an area for the investigation of the difference in the number and activity of circulating EPCs and the relationship with the Gensini score in unstable angina.

The present study compares the pharmacokinetics of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium suspension (200 mg/28.5 mg) during fasting and postprandial conditions, and the sample adds a stabilizer study. Two randomized, crossover trials were conducted in an open-label, single-center study (a fasting trial and a postprandial trial).

Background: Abnormal vitamin D is prevalent in critical care settings, but its association with prognosis remains unclear. The study aimed to investigate the prevalence and predictors of abnormal blood 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), as well as its association with prognosis in critically ill patients.

Methods: Patients aged ≥ 18 years who were once admitted to the intensive care units (ICUs) of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center between 2008 and 2019 with at least one measurement record of blood 25(OH)D were included as study population.

Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is mainly characterized by synovial hyperplasia, angiogenesis, inflammatory cells infiltration. Chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme with anti-inflammatory effects. The current project was intended to test the efficacy and mechanism of chymotrypsin in adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) rats to provide an experimental basis for the clinical application of chymotrypsin.

In the study, we retrospectively reviewed cases of patients with acute mushroom poisoning admitted to seven hospitals from May 2016 to May 2021. In total, we analyzed 153 acute mushroom poisoning cases. Of these patients, 135 survived and 18 died; no correlation of Ganoderma lucidum treatment with in-hospital mortality was observed (odds ratio = 1.

As a common intraocular malignancy in pediatrics, retinoblastoma (RB) has high prevalence worldwide. We conducted this study, aiming to explore the molecular mechanism of Krüppel-like transcription factor 16 (KLF16)/cellular retinoic acid-binding proteins-2 (CRABP2) in regulating the invasion and migration and apoptosis of RB cells via integrin-β1/focal adhesion kinase (FAK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway. With the adoption of real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) and Western blot, the mRNA and protein expression of CRABP2 and KLF16 were measured.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers successfully reprogrammed mouse embryonic fibroblasts into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) using four key factors: Oct4, Sox2, c-Myc, and Klf4, creating a specific mouse iPSC line (Oct4-GFP miPSCs).
  • The Oct4-GFP miPSCs exhibited characteristics similar to murine embryonic stem cells (mESCs), including comparable morphology, gene expression, and the ability to differentiate into various cell types.
  • This study establishes a foundation for future work on reprogramming human cancer cells into iPSCs and introduces a real-time monitoring system for tracking pluripotency changes using GFP expression.

Background: The superiority between endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) and endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) is still a debate. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to compare the diagnostic value and safety of these 2 needles in sampling of all solid lesions and separately pancreatic lesions.

Materials And Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane library were searched for randomized controlled studies that reported the comparison of FNA and FNB in solid mass.
