Deep learning-based prediction of coronary artery calcium scoring in hemodialysis patients using radial artery calcification.

Objective: This study used random forest model to explore the feasibility of radial artery calcification in prediction of coronary artery calcification in hemodialysis patients.

Material And Methods: We enrolled hemodialysis patients and performed ultrasound examinations on their radial arteries to evaluate the calcification status using a calcification index. All involved patients received coronary artery computed tomography scans to generate coronary artery calcification scores (CACS).

Incidence and risk factors for decreased range of motion of the knee joint after surgery for closed tibial plateau fracture in adults.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to quantify the incidence of and identify independent risk factors for decreased range of motion (ROM) of the knee joint after surgery for closed tibial plateau fractures in adults.

Methods: This retrospective study was performed at the trauma centre in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2019. Data from adult patients with tibial plateau fractures treated by surgery were extracted from the electronic medical records.

Purpose: To develop and validate a multimodal artificial intelligence algorithm, FusionNet, using the pattern deviation probability plots from visual field (VF) reports and circular peripapillary OCT scans to detect glaucomatous optic neuropathy (GON).

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Subjects: Two thousand four hundred sixty-three pairs of VF and OCT images from 1083 patients.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted in the Chinese Glaucoma Study Consortium database, which is a national multicenter glaucoma research alliance of 111 hospitals participating between December 21, 2015 and September 9, 2018. The diagnosis of PACD was made by qualified physicians through examination.

Acupuncture plus rehabilitation for post-stroke depression: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common stroke complication that is characterized by hopelessness, anxiety, disordered sleep, and lowered responsiveness. Rehabilitation and acupuncture treatments are often combined to treat PSD; however, there has been no meta-analysis on their synergistic effect. Therefore, we aim to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate the effectiveness of acupuncture and rehabilitation in PSD treatment.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) inhibitor R406 on diabetic retinopathy (DR) in diabetic mellitus (DM) rats.

Methods: Rats were randomized into Normal, DM, DM + 5 mg/kg R406 and DM + 10 mg/kg R406 groups. DM rats were established via injection of streptozotocin (STZ).

Comparison of bacteria isolated from open fractures following debridement and subsequent infection.

Background: One of the major objectives for the management of open fractures is to prevent bone and soft tissue infection. Here, we identified species and drug sensitivities of bacterial isolates recovered during open fracture debridement and after infection and compared the results between the two time points.

Methods: A total of 61 hospitalized patients with open fractures who developed post-operative wound infection between October 2016 and December 2017 were included in this study.

Acupuncture plus Rehabilitation for Unilateral Neglect after Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Objectives: To systematically assess the efficacy of acupuncture combined with rehabilitation on unilateral neglect after stroke.

Methods: The Cochrane Library, PubMed, Excerpt Medical Database (EMBASE), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), and Wan Fang databases were searched online for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture and its effects on unilateral neglect after stroke from their inception to September 2019. RCTs on acupuncture combined with rehabilitation in the experimental group for unilateral neglect compared with rehabilitation alone or rehabilitation plus sham acupuncture in the control group were included.

A patient with 46,XY/47,XYY karyotype and female phenotype: a case report.

Background: 47,XYY is a chromosomal abnormality syndrome that is typically observed in patients with a male phenotype. Few patients with XYY syndrome will have infertility. We here report a case of 46,XY/47,XYY syndrome diagnosed in a patient with a female phenotype.

Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of long non-coding RNA taurine up-regulated gene 1 (lncRNA TUG1) in the peripheral blood of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients.

Methods: With the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs: T-cells, B-cells and monocytes) collected from SLE patients and healthy controls, TUG1 expression was determined to identify the correlation with the clinicopathological features of SLE patients. Thereby, the diagnostic value of TUG1 expression in diagnosis of SLE was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis.

We aimed to know the effect of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) inhibition on the kidney injury of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) mice. Pristane-induced SLE mice were treated with pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC, 50 or 100 mg/kg), a NF-κB inhibitor. Histopathological changes were observed by hematoxylin & eosin, Masson and periodic schiff-methenamine stainings.
