adnexal tumors are recently named tumors of the female adnexal region, associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS). There is a lack of studies on the clinical phenotypes of PJS concerning the pathology and molecular characteristics of adnexal tumors. We searched for 781 relevant studies through PubMed and Web of Science, and preliminary statistical and grouping comparisons were made using the screened study data combined with our patient.

Recent advancements in tumor therapy have underscored the potential of biomaterials-mediated biomineralization for tumor blockade. By precisely regulating biomineralization and constructing nanomineralized structures at the cellular level, this therapy achieves multi-dimensional targeted inhibition of tumors. Mineralized precursor molecules are engineered to selectively recognize and bind to proteins on the tumor cell membrane, obstructing signal transduction.

The kidney, vital for metabolic balance, faces risks of severe diseases if dysfunctional. The glomerular filtration barrier (GFB), crucial for blood filtration, disrupts in conditions like diabetic nephropathy or nephritides, resulting in proteinuria or even renal failure. Monitoring GFB integrity is essential for early diagnosis or prognostic monitoring.

Radiotherapy is one of the main treatment modalities for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Ferroptosis has been shown to promote the radiosensitivity of HCC cells, but it remains unclear whether epigenetic regulations function in this process. In this study, we found that the overexpression of METTL3 was associated with poor prognosis.

Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most common type of heart arrhythmia, is recognized as an independent risk factor for stroke. Fortunately, catheter ablation (CA) offers an effective treatment option for AF patients. However, numerous studies have reported suboptimal outcomes, as AF recurrence rates often remain elevated even after CA.

Natural materials are valued for their lightweight properties, high strength, impact resistance, and fracture toughness, often outperforming human-made materials. This paper reviews recent research on biomimetic composites, focusing on how composition, microstructure, and interfacial characteristics affect mechanical properties like strength, stiffness, and toughness. It explores biological structures such as mollusk shells, bones, and insect exoskeletons that inspire lightweight designs, including honeycomb structures for weight reduction and impact resistance.

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is a leading non-polio enterovirus that causes severe respiratory diseases and poliomyelitis-like illness in children. Viral entry represents a potential multifaceted target for antiviral intervention; however, there are no approved inhibitors to block EV-D68. Here, we identify the functionally undescribed membrane protein major facilitator superfamily-domain-containing protein 6 (MFSD6) as an EV-D68 entry factor amenable to therapeutic intervention.

Background: Although evidence suggests that dental floss contains perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), it is still uncertain whether the use of dental floss contributes to an increased risk of PFAS exposure.
Methods: We analysed data on serum PFAS concentrations and dental floss usage in a cohort of 6750 adults who participated in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2009 to 2020. In our study, we used logistic regression, a survey-weighted linear model, item response theory (IRT) scores, inverse probability weights (IPWs) and sensitivity analysis to assess the potential impact of dental floss usage on human serum PFAS levels.

Ferroptosis plays a key role in cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury (AKI). Bergenin, which is extracted from Ardisiae Japonicae Herba and has long been used in folk tea and herbal tea drinks, is known to activate Nrf2 and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, however, its protective influence on CI-AKI has not been elucidated. We used models of cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in vitro and CI-AKI models in vivo.

Glioma Amplified Sequence 41 (GAS41) is a chromatin-associated protein that belongs to the YEATS domain family of proteins and is frequently amplified in various tumors. However, its biological function and carcinogenic mechanism in gliomas are not fully understood. In this study, we revealed that GAS41 was upregulated in human glioma tissues and cell lines, and higher expression of GAS41 was significantly associated with poor clinical prognosis.

Background: Growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenomas (GHPA) display diverse biological behaviors and clinical outcomes, necessitating the identification of tumor heterogeneity and prognostically relevant markers.
Methods: In this study, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) on 10 GHPA samples, four of which also underwent spatial transcriptome sequencing, and used scRNA-seq data from four normal pituitary samples as controls. Cell subtype characterization in GHPA was analyzed using multiple algorithms to identify malignant bias regulators, which were then validated using a clinical cohort.

Background: Venetoclax + azacitidine is a frontline treatment for older adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and a salvage therapy for relapsed/refractory patients who have been treated with intensive chemotherapy. While this is an important treatment option, many patients fail to achieve complete remission and of those that do, majority relapse. Leukemia stem cells (LSCs) are believed to be responsible for AML relapse and can be targeted through oxidative phosphorylation reduction.

Background: Malignant brain tumors are among the most lethal cancers. Recent studies emphasized the crucial involvement of the immune system, especially T cells, in driving tumor progression and influencing patient outcomes. The emerging field of immunometabolism has shown that metabolic pathways play a pivotal role in regulating immune responses within the tumor microenvironment.

Noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) is primarily driven by inflammatory processes within the cochlea, where noise exposure triggers the activation of the NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome, leading to an inflammatory cascade. The interaction between increased NLRP3 expression and NF-κB activity can further amplify cochlear inflammation. Our findings reveal that (R)-PFI-2 hydrochloride, a selective inhibitor of the SETD7 enzyme, effectively inhibits the activation of the cochlear NF-κB pathway, suppresses the release of pro-inflammatory factors, and prevents inflammasome assembly.
