The objective of our meta-analysis was to estimate the effect of intrauterine hematoma (IUH) on obstetric and pregnancy outcomes of assisted reproductive technology (ART) pregnancies. Four electronic databases were searched up to December 2021 to find studies reporting relevant outcomes of ART pregnancies with IUH. Dichotomous data were expressed as odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI).

Article Synopsis
  • Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with varying treatment approaches across regions, particularly in Asia and China, where specific data on treatment outcomes for Asian patients is limited.
  • This study analyzed 805 MCL patients in China from 1999 to 2019, using statistical methods to evaluate survival rates and factors influencing prognosis.
  • Findings indicate that treatments like high-dose cytarabine and autologous stem cell transplantation improve survival rates, emphasizing the importance of maintenance therapy and the potential benefits of newer drugs for relapsed/refractory MCL patients.

IDH2 regulates U2AF1 expression and hydroxymethylation in MDS patients.

Biotechnol Genet Eng Rev

October 2024

Institute of Harbin Hematology & Oncology, The First Hospital of Harbin, Harbin, Heilongjiang, China.

The expression of some genes regulated by their DNA methylation is involved in pathogenesis and disease progression of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), which is characterised by abnormal differentiation and development of myeloid cells. Therefore, it is significant for us to work on investigating what factors regulate U2AF1 expression and hydroxymethylation in MDS patients. However, the members of TET protein family can change 5-methylcytosine (5mC) into 5-hydroxymethylcytosine5-methyl cytosine (5hmC).

Advanced imaging modalities provide new insights into coronary artery calcification.

Eur J Radiol

December 2022

Department of Cardiology, the First Hospital of Harbin Medical Univerity, Youzheng Street 23#, Nangang District, Harbin 150001, Heilongjiang Province, China. Electronic address:

Coronary calcification plays a major role as a key surrogate measure of plaque burden, providing powerful risk stratification and influencing preventive therapy. Depending on its location and density, microcalcifications may directly result in plaque rupture and adverse clinical events. Although macroscopic calcifications are frequently linked to advanced and stable plaques, the fact that a small number of thrombotic events are caused by plaques that possess a substantial amount of calcification should not be overlooked.

Many discharged COVID-19 patients affected by sequelae experience reduced quality of life leading to an increased burden on the healthcare system, their families and society at large. Possible pathophysiological mechanisms of long COVID include: persistent viral replication, chronic hypoxia and inflammation. Ongoing vascular endothelial damage promotes platelet adhesion and coagulation, resulting in the impairment of various organ functions.

As more is learned about the pathophysiological mechanisms of COVID-19, systemic thrombosis has been recognized as being associated with more severe clinical manifestations, mortality and sequelae. As many as 40% of patients admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19 have acute kidney injury, with coagulation abnormalities the main cause of impaired function. However, the mechanism of renal thrombosis and the process leading to kidney injury are unclear.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common type of malignant tumor in the kidney. With numbers of patients whose physical condition or tumor stage not suitable for radical surgery, they only have a narrow choice of using VEGF/mTOR targeted drugs to control their tumors, but ccRCC often shows resistance to these drugs. Therefore, identifying a new therapeutic target is of urgent necessity.

Developing Two Rapid Protein Extraction Methods Using Focused-Ultrasonication and Zirconia-Silica Beads for Filamentous Fungi Identification by MALDI-TOF MS.

Front Cell Infect Microbiol

July 2021

Department of Clinical Laboratory, State Key Laboratory of Complex Severe and Rare Diseases, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

Filamentous fungi identification by Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has been challenging due to the lack of simple and rapid protein extraction methods and insufficient species coverage in the database. In this study, we created two rapid protein extraction methods for filamentous fungi: a one-step zirconia-silica beads method (ZSB) and a focused-ultrasonication method (FUS). The identification accuracy of two methods were evaluated with the VITEK MS, as well as number of spectra peaks and signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) with M-Discover 100 MALDI-TOF MS compared to the routine method.

Background: SLC15A family members are known as electrogenic transporters that take up peptides into cells through the proton-motive force. Accumulating evidence indicates that aberrant expression of SLC15A family members may play crucial roles in tumorigenesis and tumor progression in various cancers, as they participate in tumor metabolism. However, the exact prognostic role of each member of the SLC15A family in human lung cancer has not yet been elucidated.

Background: Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs), originating from the thymic epithelial cells, are the most common primary neoplasms of the anterior mediastinum. Emerging evidence demonstrated that the competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) exerted a crucial effect on tumor development. Hence, it is urgent to understand the regulatory mechanism of ceRNAs in TETs and its impact on tumor prognosis.
