Objective: This study aims to investigate the mechanism by which alkB homolog 5 (ALKBH5) regulates polypyrimidine tract-binding protein 1 (PTBP1) to mediate cardiomyocyte pyroptosis in sepsis-induced myocardial injury.
Methods: Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-exposed H9C2 cell and rat models were established to mimic septic myocardial injury both and . The mRNA and protein levels of ALKBH5 and PTBP1 in the LPS-induced cell and septic rat models were detected.

Never in mitosis gene A-related kinase (NEK) is an 11-membered family of serine/threonine kinases (NEK1-NEK11), which are known to play important roles in the formation and development of cancer. However, few studies have examined the roles of these kinases in the development of stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD). In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the relationships between the NEKs family members and STAD.

This study sought to elucidate the mechanism of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (HUCMSCs)-exosomes (Exos) in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SAKI). Exos were isolated from HUCMSCs and co-cultured with CD4 T cells exposed to lipopolysaccharide to detect the effects of HUCMSCs-Exos on CD4 T cell apoptosis and autophagy. miR-375 expression in CD4 T cells and HUCMSCs-Exos was examined.

Previous studies indicated conflicting findings regarding the association between vitamin D and abnormal spermatozoa. Herein, we assessed the causal association between circulating 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD) levels and the risk of abnormal spermatozoa by utilizing bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Genome-wide association study summary statistics for 25OHD and abnormal spermatozoa were obtained from publicly accessible databases.

This study aimed to evaluate causal relationships between six sleep traits ([i] day time napping, [ii] daytime sleepiness, [iii] insomnia, [iv] long sleep duration, [v] short sleep duration, and [vi] sleep duration per hour) and BPH through a bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) study.
Methods: Genome-wide association summary statistics of sleep traits and BPH were downloaded from public databases.

Objectives: Given the modest efficacy of docetaxel in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), this study assesses the therapeutic potential and safety profile of anlotinib in combination with docetaxel compared to docetaxel monotherapy as a second-line therapy for patients with advanced NSCLC.
Materials And Methods: In this phase II study, patients with advanced NSCLC experiencing failure with first-line platinum-based regimens were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either anlotinib plus docetaxel or docetaxel alone. Primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), with overall survival (OS), objective response rate (ORR), disease control rate (DCR), and safety as secondary endpoints.

Upon confirming an HIV diagnosis, patients need to start life-long antiretroviral therapy (ART) as soon as possible. During HIV treatment, ART drugs can cause intolerable adverse reactions, leading to poor medication compliance, treatment failure, and advancement of the HIV stage. Herein, we report a case of AIDS intolerant to multiple antiviral drugs due to side effects that we finally stabilized with the Albuvirtide (ABT) and Dolutegravir (DTG) combination.

Ainuovirine (ANV), a novel non-nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), was approved in China in 2021. In a previous randomized phase 3 trial, ANV demonstrated non-inferior efficacy relative to efavirenz (EFV) and was associated with lower rates of dyslipidemia. In this study, we aimed to explore lipid changes in treatment-experienced people with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 (PWH) switching to ANV from EFV in real world.

The disruption of circadian rhythms caused by long-term shift work can cause metabolic diseases such as obesity. Early growth response 3 (EGR3) is a member of early growth response (EGR) family, which is involved in several cellular responses, had been reported as a circadian rhythm gene in suprachiasmatic nucleus. In this research, EGR3 was found to be widely expressed in the different tissue of human and mice, and downregulated in adipose tissue of obese subjects and high-fat diet mice.

Purpose: To develop a contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) clinic-radiomics nomogram for individualized assessment of Ki-67 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: A retrospective cohort comprising 310 HCC individuals who underwent preoperative CEUS (using SonoVue) at three different centers was partitioned into a training set, a validation set, and an external test set. Radiomics signatures indicating the phenotypes of the Ki-67 were extracted from multiphase CEUS images.

Paradoxical embolism is a medical condition characterized by the migration of an embolus from a venous source into the systemic circulation. This occurs through a specific cardiac abnormality known as a right-to-left shunt, ultimately resulting in the possibility of arterial embolism. Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is the most common cause of intracardiac shunting.

Background: Circulating tumor cell (CTC) counting may be a useful non-invasive biomarker that helps patients choose first-line treatment options. Nevertheless, the cost of CTC inspection may impose an economic burden on patients, necessitating the simultaneous consideration of both its clinical effectiveness and cost. We evaluated the cost-effectiveness of CTC count-guided chemotherapy and endocrine therapy as first-line therapy for HR+/HER2-metastatic breast cancer (MBC) from the perspective of US payers.

The importance of N6-methyladenine (m6A) in mRNA metabolism, physiology, pathology and other life processes is well recognized. However, the exact role of m6A regulators in primary Sjögren's syndrome (PSS) remains unclear. In this study, we used bioinformatics and machine learning random forest approach to screen eight key m6A regulators from the Gene Expression Omnibus GSE7451, GSE40611 and GSE84844 datasets.
