Circadian rhythms are 24-h rhythms governing temporal organization of behavior and physiology generated by molecular clocks composed of autoregulatory transcription-translation feedback loops (TTFLs). Disruption of circadian rhythms leads to a spectrum of pathologies, including cancer by triggering or being involved in different hallmarks. Clock control of phenotypic plasticity involved in tumorigenesis operates in aberrant dedifferentiating to progenitor-like cell states, generation of cancer stem cells (CSCs) and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) events.

Due to the unique location and aggressive tumor biology, hilar cholangiocarcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, and gallbladder cancer often present with obstructive jaundice and require extensive liver resection, also exhibit high rates of recurrence and metastasis after radical excision. Therefore, surgeons should make treatment decisions based on the biliary anatomy of patients and the biological characteristics of tumors as it significantly affects patient's prognosis. Treatment strategy should be made to ensure the successful implementation of radical resection for biliary tract malignant tumors while maximizing the survival benefits of patients.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between frailty and all-cause mortality in hypertensive population.
Methods: We used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2002 and mortality data from the National Death Index. Frailty was assessed using the revised version of the Fried frailty criteria (weakness, exhaustion, low physical activity, shrinking, and slowness).

Objective: This study aims to investigate the expression characteristics of Krüppel-like factor 5 (KLF5) in gastric cancer (GC) and its potential correlation to pathological indexes in GC patients. Molecular mechanisms underlying the regulatory effect of KLF5 on GC progression are explored.
Patients And Methods: KLF5 expressions in GC tissues were analyzed through GEPIA dataset and those collected in our hospital.

A large number of previously published research articles have demonstrated that the expression levels of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are generally dysregulated, either through overexpression or underexpression, in cancer and other types of disease. As a recently discovered lncRNA, HOXA11 antisense RNA (HOXA11‑AS) is able to serve as an oncogenic or tumor‑suppressor gene and serves a vital role in the processes of proliferation, invasion, and migration of cancer cells. HOXA11‑AS appears to be a major factor contributing to epigenetic modification, and exerts transcriptional, post‑transcriptional, translational and post‑translational regulatory effects on genes through a variety of mechanisms; for example, by competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) and a molecular scaffold mechanism.

This study aimed to explore the underlying mechanism of linc01014 in oesophagus cancer gefitinib resistance. Gefitinib-resistant oesophagus squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC gefitinibR) cell lines were constructed by using different gefitinib treatment in FLO-1, KYAE-1, TE-8 and TE-5 cell lines and confirmed by MTS50 and proliferation assays. Expression of linc01014 was overexpressed/silenced in FLO-1 cells followed by gefitinib treatment, and then, the apoptosis-associated markers Bax and Bcl-2, and PI3KCA in PI3K signalling pathway were determined using Western blotting.

To explore chromobox protein homolog 2 (CBX2) expressions in relation to clinical features of patients and elucidate its role in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma. Using the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, R language was used to analyze the distribution of differentially expressed mRNA in hepatocellular carcinoma. The different expression of CBX2 in HCC and adjacent tissues and its relationship with survival and clinical characteristics of patients were further analyzed.

Previous research has shown that microRNA 506 (miR-506) functions as an essential modulator in the development of many biological reactions, including multiple cancers. However, its involvement in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC) has been rarely reported. In the present work, we investigated the molecular mechanism and function of miR-506 in the regulation of CSCC cell viability and metastasis (migration and invasion).

Chemoresistance is a critical obstacle to the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The mechanisms underlying resistance to doxorubicin, cisplatin, and 5-fluorouracil involve p53 and P-glycoprotein (P-gp). p53 plays a role in cell growth; therefore, resistance mechanisms involve chemotherapy-induced apoptosis and p53 mutation and inactivation.

Lung cancer causes the most number of deaths from cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including squamous cell carcinoma, large cell carcinoma, and adenocarcinoma, is responsible for more than 80% of primary lung cancer cases. As metastasis is the main cause of death, understanding the mechanisms underlying NSCLC metastasis are essential for improving the treatment of this disease.

Adiponectin is a cytokine exclusively secreted from adipocyte, and could perform direct or indirect effects on anti-inflammation and anti-tumor. Previous researches have studied the correlation between plasma adiponectin levels and the risk of pancreatic cancer. So we aimed at investigating the association of genetic variants of adiponectin gene and the risk of pancreatic cancer.

Lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) overexpression is implicated in athero-sclerosis. In the present study, we evaluated the effects of lentiviral-mediated RNA interference (RNAi) of Lp-PLA2 on inflammation and atherosclerosis in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice. Apolipoprotein E-deficient mice were randomly allocated to control and experimental groups, and constrictive collars were used to induce plaque formation.

Overexpression of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A(2) (Lp-PLA(2)) is implicated in atherosclerosis. We tested the hypothesis that lentivirus-mediated Lp-PLA(2) silencing could inhibit atherosclerosis in apolipoprotein E-deficient mice. Sixty eight apolipoprotein E-deficient mice were fed a high-fat diet and a constrictive collar was placed around the left carotid artery to induce plaque formation.

Objective: To investigate whether DNA polymerase beta (POLB) gene mutations occur in human cervical cancer (CC).
Methods: To collect fresh specimens from 34 cervical cancer and examine the mutation of POLB gene using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis and sequence analysis. According to their histological grading, the 34 cases of CC were divided into three groups: 9 cases of grade I (G(1)), 14 cases of grade II (G(2)), 11 cases of grade III (G(3)).
