Total hip arthroplasty (THA) has been an effective tool of advanced hemophiliac hip arthritis. There are only limited data of bilateral synchronous THA for end-stage arthropathy in hemophilia A patients. The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze clinical outcome and complication rate of bilateral THA for hemophilia A patients with end-stage arthropathy of hip and review the operative strategy.

Background: Ceramic-on-ceramic couplings are attractive alternative bearing surfaces that have been reported to eliminate or reduce problems related to polyethylene wear debris. However, the material in THA still remains one of the major concerns about the risk of fracture, due to its brittleness.

Objective: The present study aims at reporting the fracture rate of a series of ceramic-on-ceramic THAs with use of the sandwich liner combined with a ceramic femoral head, and attempt to detect the relative risk factors, possible cause and assesse the medium-term clinical results.

Background: High-resolution manometry (HRM) is used to assess esophageal motility diseases. Abnormalities in a number of HRM parameters have been reported in patients with dysphagia. However, it is unclear whether some of abnormal HRM parameters are predictive of dysphagia.

Background: We investigated the effect of Ginsenoside-Rb3 (Rb3) on the endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of cardiac microvascular endothelial cells (CMVECs) following coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) infection.

Methods: CMVECs were infected with 100 TCID50 CVB3 (CVB3 group) or treated with Rb3 (Rb3 group); stably cultured CMVECs were used as control. Cells treated with the Pyk2 inhibitor TAE226 and PI3K inhibitor LY294002 were used for additional experiments.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify the main β-lactamase genotypes in Escherichia coli from Zhejiang province and how β-lactam antibiotics and the histidine kinase inhibitor closantel affect these genes.
  • The research found that out of 462 E. coli strains, 61.7% were resistant to several β-lactam antibiotics, with TEM and CTX-M genes being the most prevalent and often found together.
  • While β-lactam antibiotics induced an increase in β-lactamase gene expression, closantel significantly inhibited this expression and increased the susceptibility of resistant strains, suggesting a potential therapeutic strategy.
