Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on 28-day mortality of patients with severe pneumonia.
Methods: The clinical data of 214 severe pneumonia patients admitted to the department of emergency medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiao Tong University from January 2015 to December 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical parameters, such as gender, age, underlying diseases, and blood routine, procalcitonin (PCT), liver and kidney function, blood lactic acid (Lac), arterial partial pressure of oxygen (PaO) at admission or within 24 hours after admission were reviewed.

Our study aims to excavate the role of metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript 1 (MALAT1) in myocardial infarction (MI), especially in an ischemia/reperfusion injury model and the underlying mechanism involving the MALAT1-miR144 axis. Our results demonstrated that the expression of MALAT1 has a higher level, while miR-144 expression significantly reduced in myocardial tissue after MI and also in left anterior descending (LAD)-ligation mice. This result was confirmed studies in HL-1 cardiomyocytes followed with hypoxia/reoxygenation.

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induces macrophage/monocyte activation and pro-inflammatory cytokines production by activating Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR-4) signaling. Rab GTPase 21 (Rab21) is a member of the Rab GTPase subfamily. Essential oils play an important role in reducing the pain and inflammation caused by bone fracture.In this study, a scaffold was electrospun based on polyurethane (PU), grape seed oil, honey and propolis for bone tissue-engineering applications. The fiber diameter of the electrospun PU/grape seed oil scaffold and PU/grape seed oil/honey/propolis scaffold were observed to be reduced compared to the pristine PU control.
