Purpose: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) poses significant challenges in treatment due to its aggressive nature and immune escape mechanisms. Despite recent advances in immune checkpoint blockade therapies, GBM prognosis remains poor. The role of bromodomain and extraterminal domain (BET) protein BRD4 in GBM, especially its interaction with immune checkpoints, is not well understood.

To explore the relevant anatomical factors in the pathogenesis of chronic dacryocystitis based on CT radiomics. A retrospective analysis was conducted on the general data and sinus CT materials of 85 patients with chronic dacryocystitis(case group) admitted to our department from December 2020 to December 2023, and 85 individuals undergoing physical examination(control group) during the same period. The differences in anatomical parameters between the two groups were compared to study the morphological characteristics of the nasolacrimal duct in patients with chronic dacryocystitis.

Background: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) represents a critical complications of end-stage liver disease, serving as an independent predictor of mortality among patients with cirrhosis. Despite effective treatment with rifaximin, some patients with HE still progress to recurrent episodes, posing a significant therapeutic challenge. Recurrent HE is defined as experiencing two or more episodes within a 6-month period.

Liver ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is a clinically relevant pathophysiological process that determines the effectiveness of life-saving liver transplantation, to which aberrant ROS accumulation plays a key role. In the present study we investigated the role of SUV39H1, a lysine methyltransferases, in this process focusing on regulatory mechanism and translational potential. We report that SUV39H1 expression was up-regulated in the liver tissues of mice subjected to ischemia-reperfusion and in hepatocytes exposed to hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R) in a redox-sensitive manner.

Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) is a gut microbiota-derived metabolite, the production of which in vivo is mainly regulated by dietary choices, gut microbiota, and the hepatic enzyme flavin monooxygenase (FMO), while its elimination occurs via the kidneys. The TMAO level is positively correlated with the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. Recent studies have found that TMAO plays an important role in the development of ischemic stroke.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) accounts for over 40% of all non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cases and continues to be difficult to treat despite advancements in diagnostics and therapies. Ferritinophagy, a newly recognized autophagy process linked to ferroptosis, has been associated with LUAD development. Recent studies have shown a dysregulation of genes related to ferritinophagy in LUAD, indicating its potential as a therapeutic target.

Background: There is limited research on the relationship between blood pressure variability (BPV) and outcomes among patients receiving intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This study aimed to investigate the effect of 24-h BPV on the outcome of patients with AIS treated with IVT.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data of patients with AIS who had undergone IVT treatment.

Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1b (Cpt1b) is a crucial rate-limiting enzyme in fatty acid metabolism, but its role and mechanism in early cardiac development remains unclear. Here, we show that regulates cardiomyocyte proliferation during zebrafish development. Knocking out entire coding sequences leads to impaired cardiomyocyte proliferation, while cardiomyocyte-specific overexpression of promotes cardiomyocyte proliferation.

Background: The objective of this study was to assess patient-reported outcomes (PROs), including health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and anxiety and depression symptoms, and to identify associated variables in patients with tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-resistant chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in chronic-phase (CP) or accelerated-phase (AP) who were receiving olverembatinib.
Methods: Patients in multicenter studies were invited to complete the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality-of-Life Core 30 Questionnaire, the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, and the Self-Rating Depression Scale at baseline and regularly during olverembatinib therapy. The time trends in PROs were estimated with a linear model using a generalized estimating equation based on an independent working correlation matrix.

Hypoxia and reactive oxygen species (ROS) overaccumulation cause persistent oxidative stress and impair intrinsic regenerative potential upon tissue injury. For local tissue injury with hypoxia, such as bone fracture and defects, a localized-sufficient oxygen supply is highly desirable but remains challenging. Therefore, to explore a strategy and its intrinsic mechanism for supplying oxygen locally and remodeling the regenerative microenvironment, an innovative oxygenating hydrogel microsphere system with sustained oxygenation and antioxidant properties is introduced by loading CaO@SiO@PDA (CSP) nanoparticles.

Background: Previous studies suggest that septic patients often have elevated triglyceride levels due to various factors, and higher levels may indicate a poorer prognosis. However, few studies have investigated whether lower triglycerides are associated with a better prognosis.

Objectives: To investigate the risk factors for short-term residual low back pain (SRBP) following percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in patients with initial thoracolumbar osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs).
Methods: The clinical data of 389 patients with primary thoracolumbar OVCFs treated with PKP in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were retrospectively analysed. A numerical rating scale (NRS) was used to evaluate whether SRBP was present 2 days after the operation.

Introduction: COVID-19 is highly heterogeneous, ranging from cases with mild disease with an almost asymptomatic carrier to severe cases, in which the disease evolves rapidly. A better understanding of monocyte response during SARS-CoV-2 infection would highlight potential biomarkers and establish other possible approaches for severe cases.
Methods: The study group consisted of 32 COVID-19 patients and 18 health controls from June 2023 to March 2024.

Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome Virus (SFTSV), a novel bunyavirus primarily transmitted by Haemaphysalis longicornis, induces severe disease with a high mortality rate. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is a prevalent internal chemical modification in eukaryotic mRNA that has been reported to regulate viral infection. However, the role of m6A modification during SFTSV infection remains elusive.

Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD), characterized by chronic tissue inflammation and fibrosis involving multiple organs, remains a major complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is an anti-inflammatory drug approved for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and psoriasis. We previously reported that DMF effectively inhibits acute GVHD (aGVHD) while preserving the graft-versus-leukemia effect.

Hemophilic arthritis (HA) is one of the most pathologically altered joint diseases. Specifically, periodic spontaneous hemorrhage-induced hyperinflammation of the synovium and irreversible destruction of the cartilage are the main mechanisms that profoundly affect the behavioral functioning and quality of life of patients. In this study, we isolated and characterized platelet-rich plasma-derived exosomes (PRP-exo).

Purpose: To examine the burden of blindness caused by refraction disorders (BCRD) in China over the past 30 years by year, age, and sex, and to estimate future projections.
Methods: Data from the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) 2019 database were used to analyze the number of cases and age-standardized prevalence rates (ASPRs) of BCRD in China from 1990 to 2019. We focused on changes over time using estimated annual percentage changes (EAPCs).
