Multi-omic profiling highlights factors associated with resistance to immuno-chemotherapy in non-small-cell lung cancer.

Although immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies have shifted the treatment paradigm for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), many patients remain resistant. Here we characterize the tumor cell states and spatial cellular compositions of the NSCLC tumor microenvironment (TME) by analyzing single-cell transcriptomes of 232,080 cells and spatially resolved transcriptomes of tumors from 19 patients before and after ICB-chemotherapy. We find that tumor cells and secreted phosphoprotein 1-positive macrophages interact with collagen type XI alpha 1 chain-positive cancer-associated fibroblasts to stimulate the deposition and entanglement of collagen fibers at tumor boundaries, obstructing T cell infiltration and leading to poor prognosis.

Association between renal function trajectories and risk of cardiovascular disease: a prospective cohort study.

Introduction: It is unclear whether changing trajectories of renal function will increase the risk prediction information of cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study aimed to evaluate the trajectory patterns of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and the association between eGFR trajectories and CVD risk.

Purpose: With the increase in aging and cardiovascular risk factors, the morbidity and mortality of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), represented by ischemic heart disease and stroke, continue to rise in China. For better prevention and intervention, relevant guidelines recommend using predictive models for early detection of ASCVD high-risk groups. Therefore, this study aims to establish a population ASCVD prediction model in rural areas of Xinjiang using survival analysis.

Content level and risk assessment of phthalate esters in surface water of Bosten Lake, China.

Bosten Lake is the main fishing and grazing area in Xinjiang. The pollution of phthalate esters (PAEs) in water has attracted much attention, but limited research has been conducted on PAEs in Bosten Lake. The distribution of PAEs in fifteen sampling sites of surface water in the dry and flood seasons were investigated to explore the content level of PAEs in Bosten Lake, and the risk was evaluated.

Ulungur Lake is the largest lake in northern Xinjiang and undertakes important aquatic tasks. It is the No. 1 fishing ground in northern Xinjiang, and the problem of persistent organic pollution in the water has received much attention.

Purpose: To explore the optimal timing of locoregional therapy in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) recurrence after radical resection and initially unresectable liver metastases but no other metastases and whether maintenance therapy should be performed after achieving no evidence of disease (NED).

Methods: This study was jointly carried out in six medical institutions in China to collect the clinical data of patients with primary CRC from January 2015 to December 2021. Research participants were identified according to the inclusion criteria of this study for statistical analysis of the clinical characteristics and recurrence time.

Tumor microenvironment remodeling after neoadjuvant immunotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer revealed by single-cell RNA sequencing.

Background: Immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, but most patients are refractory to immunotherapy or acquire resistance, with the underlying mechanisms remaining to be explored.

Methods: We characterized the transcriptomes of ~92,000 single cells from 3 pre-treatment and 12 post-treatment patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who received neoadjuvant PD-1 blockade combined with chemotherapy. The 12 post-treatment samples were categorized into two groups based on pathologic response: major pathologic response (MPR; n = 4) and non-MPR (NMPR; n = 8).

Path Analysis of Influencing Factors of Depression in Middle-Aged and Elderly Patients with Diabetes.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of depression in middle-aged and elderly patients with diabetes in China, determine the risk factors of depression in these patients, and explore the internal relationship between influencing factors and depression by constructing a pathway model.

Methods: Data were collected from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHRLS). We included 1743 patients with diabetes who were assessed using the CES-D10, which is used to measure depressive symptoms in Chinese older adults.

Diabetic and stress-induced hyperglycemia in spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage: A multicenter prospective cohort (CHEERY) study.

Introduction: Admission hyperglycemia is a common finding after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) secondary to pre-existing diabetes mellitus (DM) or stress-induced hyperglycemia (SIH). Studies of the causal relationship between SIH and ICH outcomes are rare.

Aim: We aimed to identify whether SIH or pre-existing DM was the cause of admission hyperglycemia associated with ICH outcomes.

Subjects were divided into four groups based on the quartile of the TyG index level.

A Cardiovascular Disease Prediction Model Based on Routine Physical Examination Indicators Using Machine Learning Methods: A Cohort Study.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are currently the leading cause of premature death worldwide. Model-based early detection of high-risk populations for CVD is the key to CVD prevention. Thus, this research aimed to use machine learning (ML) algorithms to establish a CVD prediction model based on routine physical examination indicators suitable for the Xinjiang rural population.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the relationship between obesity- and lipid-related indices and insulin resistance (IR) and construct a personalized IR risk model for Xinjiang Kazakhs based on representative indices.

Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed from 2010 to 2012. A total of 2170 Kazakhs from Xinyuan County were selected as research subjects.
