Exploring the relationship between gut microbiota, immune characteristics, and female genital tract polyps using genetic evidence.

The study investigates the causal relationship between gut microbes and female genital tract polyps, exploring the potential mediating role of immune cells via Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis. Our MR study was designed following the STROBE-MR guidelines. We combined data from a large-scale GWAS meta-analysis, including 731 immune profiles and female genital tract polyps, with gut microbiology data sourced from the MiBioGen consortium.

Methods: This study was designed as a multicenter, controlled, prospective, and randomized clinical trial involving 4 hospitals.

Efficacy and Safety of Anti-Interleukin-5 Therapy in Patients with Asthma: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Background: Recent trials have assessed the efficacy and safety of novel monoclonal antibodies such as reslizumab and benralizumab. However, the overall efficacy and safety anti-interleukin (IL) 5 treatment in asthma have not been thoroughly assessed.

Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of anti-IL-5 treatment on patients with asthma published up to October 2016 in PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) that reported pulmonary function, quality of life scores, asthmatic exacerbation rate, blood and sputum eosinophil counts, short-acting β-agonist (SABA) rescue use, and adverse events were included.

Anti-interleukin 5 Therapy for Eosinophilic Asthma: a Meta-analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials.

Recently, more and more clinical trials have been performed to evaluate the effects of anti-interleukin (IL)-5 antibodies in eosinophilic asthma. However, a confirm conclusion has not been well established. We therefore sought to conduct a meta-analysis to assess the overall efficacy and safety of anti-interleukin 5 treatments in eosinophilic asthma.

Pleural Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare neoplasm of vascular origin that can arise in multiple and varied tissue sites. Pleural epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (PEH), a subtype of EHE, is particularly less reported. Herein, we describe a case of PEH presented with left-sided back pain in a 68-year-old female, and her chest CT scan revealed thickening of the left pleura and left pleural effusion, the histological diagnosis was confirmed by both conventional examination and immunohistochemistry.

The central mechanisms of visceral hypersensitivity remain largely unknown. It's reported that there are highest densities of TRPV1 labeled neurons within basolateral amygdala (BLA). The aim of this study was to explore the role and mechanisms of TRPV1 in BLA in development of visceral hypersensitivity.

Current imaging techniques such as X-ray CT, MRI, and PET, have advanced noninvasive research on pulmonary diseases. However, these techniques mainly facilitate the anatomical or structural assessment of the diseased lung and/or typically use radioactive agents.

We conducted this case-control study to investigate the genetic role of IL-1β+3954C/T, IL-6-174G/C, IL-6-572C/G, IL-10-1082A/G, and IL-10-819C/T in the development of coronary artery disease (CAD) in a Chinese population. Polymorphisms IL-1β+3954C/T, IL-6-174G/C, IL-6-572C/G, IL-10-1082A/G, and IL-10-819C/T were determined by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism assay. The CAD patients were more likely to be cigarette smokers, have a history of hypertension, have a higher value of total cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and have a lower value of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.

A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial of Malignant Gastric Outlet Obstruction: Tailored Partially Covered Stents (Placed Fluoroscopically) versus Standard Uncovered Stents (Placed Endoscopically).

The aim of our study is to compare the efficacy and safety of "outlet-shape" tailored stents with standard stents for the management of distal gastric cancer causing gastric outlet obstructions (GOOs) with varying gastric cavity shapes and sizes. To determine the shape and size of the GOOs, stomach opacifications were performed using contrast media before stenting. Two basic shapes of the residual cavity of the proximal GOO were observed: cup shaped or approximately cup shaped and funnel shaped or approximately funnel shaped.

[PTK7 mRNA and protein expression level in serum of patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia and its clinical significance].

The purpose of this study was to detect the serum PTK7 level of patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia, and to reveal its clinical value for diagnosis of diseases. A total of 136 patients diagnosed as acute lymphocytic leukemia from May 2012 to April 2014 in our hospital were enroled in this study and were divided into the L1 group (n = 42), L2 (n = 45) and L3 group (n = 49) according cytomorphology, and 48 normal children were selected as control group. Fluorescence quantitative PCR was used to detect mRNA level of PTK7 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and Western blot was used to detect PTK7 protein expression.

Hypoxia-ischaemia brain damage (HIBD) is a major type of perinatal brain injury in newborns. In this study, we investigate the short- and long-term neuroprotective effects of Diazepam on neonatal rats with HIBD and the potential mechanisms underlying its protective effects. Seven-day-old Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to left carotid artery ligation followed by a 2-h exposure to 8% oxygen and 92% nitrogen.
