Introduction: Developing strategies to improve the therapeutic efficacy of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) in autoimmune diseases have garnered increased attention.
Objectives: To evaluate whether rapamycin-induced autophagy within the systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) inflammatory microenvironment (Rapa-SLE) augments the therapeutic effects of MSC-derived EVs in SLE.
Methods: The therapeutic potential of the resulting EVs (Rapa-SLE-EV) was assessed in MRL/lpr mice.
Respiratory diseases pose a significant global health burden, with challenges in early and accurate diagnosis due to overlapping clinical symptoms, which often leads to misdiagnosis or delayed treatment. To address this issue, we developed , an artificial intelligence (AI)-based diagnostic system that utilizes natural language processing (NLP) to extract key clinical features from electronic health records (EHRs) for the accurate classification of respiratory diseases. This study employed a large cohort of 31,267 EHRs from multiple centers for model training and internal testing.

Traditional cancer vaccines containing a single or a few discrete tumor epitopes have failed in the clinic, possibly due to challenges in epitope selection, target downregulation, cancer cell heterogeneity, tumor microenvironment immunosuppression, or a lack of vaccine immunogenicity. Whole cancer cell or cancer membrane vaccines, which provide a rich source of antigens, are emerging as viable alternatives.

The ongoing mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 pose serious challenges to the efficacy of the available antiviral drugs, and new drugs with fantastic efficacy are always deserved investigation. Here, a nanobody called IBT-CoV144 is reported, which exhibits broad neutralizing activity against SARS-CoV-2 by inducing the conformation of spike trimer dimers. IBT-CoV144 was isolated from an immunized alpaca using the RBD of wild-type SARS-CoV-2, and it showed strong cross-reactive binding and neutralizing potency against diverse SARS-CoV-2 variants, including Omicron subvariants.

Pyrogallol, a natural polyphenol compound (1,2,3-trihydroxybenzene), has shown efficacy in the therapeutic treatment of disorders associated with inflammation. Nevertheless, the mechanisms underlying the protective properties of pyrogallol against influenza A virus infection are not yet established. We established in this study that pyrogallol effectively alleviated H1N1 influenza A virus-induced lung injury and reduced mortality.

NK/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is a highly aggressive malignant tumour with a very poor prognosis, which often poses diagnostic difficulties due to the non-specificity of its clinical presentation. NK/T-cell lymphoma with eosinophilic hyperplasia syndrome is extremely rare. This article describes a patient with NKTCL misdiagnosed as vasculitis who presented with sinusitis, abdominal pain, anorexia, and lung shadows.

Combined small cell lung cancer (CSCLC) is a specific subtype of lung cancer characterized by a pathological mixture of small cell lung cancer and any subtype of non-small cell lung cancer components. Currently, our understanding of the clinicopathological features, origin, molecular characterization, treatment, and prognosis of CSCLC remains limited. CSCLCs represent examples of intratumor heterogeneity and pose challenges for accurate diagnosis.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus, implicated in the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizes and binds host cells using its spike glycoprotein through an angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2) receptor-mediated pathway. Recent research suggests that spatial distributions of the spike protein may influence viral interactions with target cells and immune systems. The goal of this study has been to develop a liposome-based virus-like particle (VLP) by reconstituting the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein within a synthetic nanoparticle membrane, aiming to eventually establish tunability in spike protein presentation on the nanoparticle surface.

Percutaneous endovascular biopsy (PEB) including forceps biopsy and catheter aspiration has been used to make a pretreatment diagnosis for pulmonary artery (PA) masses. This retrospective study aims to describe the procedure of PEB and compare the diagnostic yield of forceps biopsy and catheter aspiration for a definite diagnosis in patients with PA masses. All consecutive 22 patients (53 ± 14 years), 11 males and 11 females, who underwent PEB for pathologic confirmation between November 2018 and November 2022 were enrolled.

Aim: To develop a miRNA-205 based model for prediction of the recurrence of endometrial cancer.
Methods: The FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics) stage, grading, myometrial infiltration, lymph node status and miRNA-205 expression levels were extracted from 90 endometrioid endometrial cancer patients, recurrence related risk factors were analyzed by Cox regression analysis. A risk model was then developed.
This is a case of congenital afibrinogenemia with multiple thrombotic and hemorrhagic events. His fibrinogen concentration was negatively correlated with thrombin time and prothrombin time and abnormally negatively correlated with plasma D-dimer levels. The individualized standard for fibrinogen concentration may help to balance thrombotic and hemorrhagic events for this disease.
