Article Synopsis
  • The study assessed how often hypoglycemia occurs in patients with diabetic kidney disease who are on maintenance hemodialysis and what factors contribute to its occurrence.
  • It included a meta-analysis of 24 studies involving 2388 patients, revealing a hypoglycemia incidence rate of 41.7%.
  • Key risk factors identified for hypoglycemia included older age, longer duration of DKD, usage of certain diabetes medications, low fasting plasma glucose levels, and poor medication compliance or self-care ability.

This study observed the effects of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma on the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)/mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1(mTORC1) signaling pathway and mitochondrial energy metabolism in the rat model of adriamycin-induced renal fibrosis with blood stasis syndrome to explore the mechanism of Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma in protecting the kidney. Thirty male rats with adriamycin-induced renal fibrosis were randomized into model, low-, medium-, and high-dose Notoginseng Radix et Rhizoma, and positive control groups(n=6). Six clean SD male rats were selected into the normal group.

Objective: To investigate the effects of letrozole combined with ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate tablets on serum sex hormones and lipid metabolism in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Methods: Clinical data of 152 PCOS patients in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Chinese Medicine from May 2019 to June 2021 were collected for a retrospective analysis. Among the patients, 73 treated with ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate tablets alone were seen as control group (CG), and the rest 79 with letrozole combined with ethinylestradiol and cyproterone acetate tablets were seen as observation group (OG).

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second most common malignancy globally, after lung cancer, accounting for 85-90% of primary liver cancer. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is considered the leading risk factor for HCC development in China. HCC is a highly malignant cancer whose metastasis is primarily influenced by the tumor microenvironment.

Direct and accurate detection of doxorubicin (DOX) in unprocessed human whole blood is of vital importance in medical diagnosis and monitoring. In this work, we demonstrate the utilization of electrochemically pretreated glassy carbon electrodes (p-GCE) modified with vertically-ordered mesoporous silica films (VMSF) for rapid and sensitive electrochemical detection of DOX. The electrochemically pretreated process is a simple, cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach for improving interface catalytic properties and introducing oxygen-containing groups into the GCE surface, which could be suitable for stably growing VMSF without any adhesive layer simultaneously retaining the underlying electrode activity.

This paper was to investigate the effect of Huanglian Jiedu Decoction(HLJD) on ulcerative colitis(UC) in mice, and determine the effective components in plasma, and virtually screen its therapeutic target, and predict its mechanism. Sixty Balb/c mice were randomly divided into blank group, model group, mesalazine treatment group(0.3 g·kg~(-1)), and HLJD treatment groups(24.

Reagentless and sensitive detection of tumor biomarkers using label-free electrochemical immunosensors is highly desirable for early and effective cancer diagnosis. Herein, we present a label-free electrochemical immunoassay platform based on surface-confined Prussian blue (PB) redox probes for sensitive and reagentless determination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). To facilitate the electron transfer of probes and improve sensitivity, Au nanoparticles and PB (Au-PB) are electrochemically co-deposited on a carbon nanotube (CNT) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE).

Aims: This study is to investigate expression of miRNA-155 and the related signaling pathway in a rat model of diabetes mellitus (DM).

Methods: Thirty-six SD rats were divided into control, DM, and tetrandrine groups. A rat model of DM was constructed by tail vein injection with alloxan.
