Backgrounds: Senile osteoporosis-alternatively labeled as skeletal aging-encompasses age-induced bone deterioration and loss of bone microarchitecture. Recent studies have indicated a potential association between senile osteoporosis and chronic systemic inflammation, and pyroptosis in bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells is speculated to contribute to bone loss and osteoporosis. Therefore, targeting pyroptosis in stem cells may be a potential therapeutic strategy for treating osteoporosis.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) system can provide real-time 3D images and fluoroscopy images of the region of interest during the operation. Some systems can even offer augmented fluoroscopy and puncture guidance. The use of CBCT for interventional pulmonary procedures has grown significantly in recent years, and numerous clinical studies have confirmed the technology's efficacy and safety in the diagnosis, localization, and treatment of pulmonary nodules.

The maturation process of natural killer (NK) cells, which is regulated by multiple transcription factors, determines their functionality, but few checkpoints specifically targeting this process have been thoroughly studied. Here we show that NK-specific deficiency of glucose-regulated protein 94 (gp96) leads to decreased maturation of NK cells in mice. These gp96-deficient NK cells exhibit undermined activation, cytotoxicity and IFN-γ production upon stimulation, as well as weakened responses to IL-15 for NK cell maturation, in vitro.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of 2 endoscopic spine surgeries on the biomechanical properties of normal and osteoporotic spines.
Methods: Based on computed tomography images of a healthy adult volunteer, 6 finite element models were created. After validating the normal intact model, a concentrated force of 400 N and a moment of 7.
Objectives: To examine the role of ferroptosis on the pathogenesis and progression of COVID-19.
Materials And Methods: A total of 127 patients who were hospitalized for COVID-19 were categorized into two groups according to the intensity of oxygen therapy (high-flow or low-flow). Clinical characteristics, laboratory parameters, plasma markers, and peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) markers were measured at baseline and one or two weeks after treatment.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a cancer cell membrane biomimetic nanodrug delivery system (NDDS) to achieve an enhanced chemo-photothermal synergistic antitumor effect. The biomimetic NDDSs are composed of mitoxantrone (MIT)-loaded gelatin nanoparticles and IR820-encapsulated 4T1 cancer cell membrane-derived vesicles. The biomimetic NDDS displayed excellent stability and photothermal conversion efficiency.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is nowadays widely employed in cancer treatment. We sought to assess the efficacy of combining PDT with anti-programmed cell death protein 1 (PD1) and to investigate the associated mechanisms in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We established a xenograft tumor model in C57BL/6J mice using Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cells, recorded tumor growth, and quantified reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels using a ROS detection kit.

Intervertebral disk degeneration is a common disease with an unknown etiology. Currently, tissue engineering is considered to be an important method for intervertebral disk repair. Although transplanted stem cells may disrupt the repair process because of apoptosis caused by the oxidative microenvironment.

Background: Bone cancer pain (BCP) represents one of the most challenging comorbidities associated with cancer metastasis. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have garnered attention as potential therapeutic agents in managing neuropathic pain. However, their role in the regulation of nociceptive information processing remains poorly understood.

Dynamic antibacterial polysaccharide prodrug hydrogels are in great demand for treatment of wound infection owing to their unique advantages such as excellent biocompatibility, superior antimicrobial property as well as favorable wound healing capacity. Herein, this work highlights the successful development of a dynamic carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) prodrug hydrogel, which is facilely constructed through Schiffer base reaction between antibacterial components (amikacin and CMC) and crosslinker (dialdehyde PEG). Moderate dynamic imine linkages endow the hydrogel with excellent injectable and self-healing capability as well as targeted on-demand drug release in slightly alkaline condition at infected wound.

The cell proliferation protein 123 (CDC123) is involved in the synthesis of the eukaryotic initiation factor 2 (eIF2), which regulates eukaryotic translation. Although CDC123 is considered a candidate oncogene in breast cancer, its expression and role in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) remain unknown. Herein, we obtained the CDC123 RNA-seq and clinical prognostic data from the TCGA database.

Background: Abnormal activation of FAK is associated with tumor development and metastasis. Through interactions with other intracellular signalling molecules, FAK influences cytoskeletal remodelling, modulation of adhesion signalling, and activation of transcription factors, promoting migration and invasion of tumor cells. However, the exact mechanism that regulates these processes remains unresolved.
