Precise timing of macrophage polarization plays a pivotal role in immunomodulation of tissue regeneration, yet most studies mainly focus on M2 macrophages for their anti-inflammatory and regenerative effects while the essential proinflammatory role of the M1 phenotype on the early inflammation stage is largely underestimated. Herein, a superparamagnetic hydrogel capable of timely controlling macrophage polarization is constructed by grafting superparamagnetic nanoparticles on collagen nanofibers. The magnetic responsive hydrogel network enables efficient polarization of encapsulated macrophage to the M2 phenotype through the podosome/Rho/ROCK mechanical pathway in response to static magnetic field (MF) as needed.

Antipsychotic pharmacotherapy has been widely recommended as the standard of care for the treatment of acute schizophrenia and psychotic symptoms of other psychiatric disorders. However, there are growing concerns regarding antipsychotic-induced side effects, including weight gain, metabolic syndrome (MetS), and extrapyramidal motor disorders, which not only decrease patient compliance, but also predispose to diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. To date, most studies and reviews on the mechanisms of antipsychotic-induced metabolic side effects have focused on central nervous system mediation of appetite and food intake.

Atomically dispersed transition metal-N sites have emerged as a frontier for electrocatalysis because of the maximized atom utilization. However, there is still the problem that the reactant is difficult to reach active sites inside the catalytic layer in the practical proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) testing, resulting in the ineffective utilization of the deeply hided active sites. In the device manner, the favorite structure of electrocatalysts for good mass transfer is vital for PEMFC.

Programmed cell death protein 1/programmed cell death protein ligand1 (PD-1/PD-L1) interaction is an important immune checkpoint targeted by anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapies. However, the observed prognostic significance of PD-1/PD-L1 expression in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma treated with the standard of care has been inconsistent and even contradictory. To clarify the prognostic role of PD-1/PD-L1 expression and interaction in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, in this study we used 3-marker fluorescent multiplex immunohistochemistry and Automated Quantitative Analysis Technology to assess the CD3, PD-L1, and PD-1CD3 expression in diagnostic samples and PD-1/PD-L1 interaction as indicated by presence of PD-1CD3 cells in the vicinity of PD-L1 cells, analyzed their prognostic effects in 414 patients with de novo diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and examined whether PD-1/PD-L1 interaction is required for the prognostic role of PD-1/PD-L1 expression.

Primary bone (PB) diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is rare and has a favorable prognosis, but the underlying biological mechanisms remain unknown. In this study we analyzed the clinicopathologic features of 160 patients with PB-DLBCL in comparison with 499 nonosseous DLBCL. Compared with patients with nonosseous DLBCL and secondary involvement of bone by DLBCL, PB-DLBCL patients less frequently had elderly age, B-symptoms, elevated serum lactate dehydrogenase levels, and high International Prognostic Index at diagnosis, more frequently had germinal center (GC) subtype (approximately 90%) and complete remission, and had significantly better survival.
