Background: With the attention paid to the heritability of breast cancer, the search for the genetic susceptibility gene of breast cancer has become a hot spot. At present, a number of studies have explored the relationship between rs13347 polymorphism of cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44) gene and breast cancer, but the research conclusions are inconsistent. Therefore, we will use this meta-analysis to explore the role of this gene polymorphism in breast cancer susceptibility.

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women and is a molecularly heterogeneous disease. Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (Stat3) is overexpressed and hyperactivated in a variety of human tumours, including breast cancer, thus representing a promising target for breast cancer treatment. In the present study, we evaluated the activities of a novel Stat3 inhibitor named Statmp-151 in the human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 and the murine mammary carcinoma cell line 4T1.

The differential diagnosis of benign ascites and malignant ascites is incredibly challenging for clinicians. This research aimed to develop a user-friendly predictive model to discriminate malignant ascites from non-malignant ascites through easy-to-obtain clinical parameters. All patients with new-onset ascites fluid were recruited from January 2014 to December 2018.

Background: Long non-coding RNA is considered to be essential to modulate the development and progression of human malignant cancers. And long non-coding RNA can act as crucial modulators by sponging the corresponding microRNA in tumorigenesis. We aimed to elucidate the function of ACTA2-AS1 and its molecular mechanism in colon adenocarcinoma.

Background: Circular RNAs (circRNAs) is a novel class of non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression during cancer progression. Circ_0092314 is a newly discovered circRNA that was upregulated in pancreatic cancer (PAAD) tissues. However, the detailed functions and underlying mechanisms of circ_0092314 in PAAD cells remain unclear.

The 2019 novel coronavirus has spread rapidly around the world. Cancer patients seem to be more susceptible to infection and disease deterioration, but the factors affecting the deterioration remain unclear. We aimed to develop an individualized model for prediction of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) deterioration in cancer patients.

Prevalence of acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) patients is growing worldwide, associating with multi-organ failure and high short-term mortality rates. ACLF can be of varying entity manifestation, whereas it remains poorly defined. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) stratifies ACLF into two types, damp hot (DH) and cold damp (CD), by seasoned TCM practitioners, for specific treatment with different TCMs.

Objective: Emerging evidence has highlighted the promising potential of the application of Zinc Oxide nanoparticles (nano-ZnO) but the mechanism by how it functions in liver cancer remains elusive. We aimed to explore the effect of nano-ZnO on liver cancer cells.
Materials And Methods: Liver cancer cells Huh7 cells were transfected with GFP-LC3, and then, treated with DMSO, Sorafenib, and nano-ZnO respectively to set blank group, Sorafenib control group, and nano-ZnO group followed by the analysis of the expression of GFP-LC3, p53, and Caspase by Western blot and RT-qPCR, cell apoptosis and viability by flow cytometry and CCK-8 assay.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common types of malignant tumor, and is the second highest cause of cancer-associated mortality, behind lung carcinoma. It is urgent to identify novel genes that can be used to confirm the diagnosis and prognosis of patients with HCC. The present study aimed to investigate the expression pattern of phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis class C (PIGC) in HCC and assess its clinical prognostic significance.

Objective: This study provides a theoretical basis for the prevention, treatment and diagnosis of venous thrombosis during pregnancy.
Patients And Methods: Sixty patients with venous thrombosis in gestation period were treated as the research group, including every 30 people in the middle and late pregnancy groups, and the control group randomly selected 33 healthy pregnant women during the same period. The anti-β2 glycoprotein I antibody IgA/G/M, platelet aggregation rate, plasma fibrinogen, and D-dimer levels were measured in all subjects.

Tumor-associated mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) play a critical role in the growth and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the mechanism underlying the crosstalk between MSCs and HCC cells is not completely understood. Here, HCC cells were treated with or without conditioned medium of MSCs (CM-MSC), and examined for differential expression of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs).

Bromodomain-containing protein 4 (BRD4), the core component of transcriptional regulatory elements, plays a significant role in tumorigenesis and aggressiveness. However, the mechanisms regulating the functions of BRD4 in bladder cancer (BC) still remain elusive. Herein, we identify one exonic circular RNA (circRNA) generated from NR3C1 gene (circNR3C1) as a regulator of BRD4/C-myc complex.

Background: To the authors' knowledge, little is known regarding the association between recent oncologic treatment and mortality in patients with cancer who are infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The objective of the current study was to determine whether recent oncologic treatment is associated with a higher risk of death among patients with carcinoma who are hospitalized with COVID-19.
Methods: Data regarding 248 consecutive patients with carcinoma who were hospitalized with COVID-19 were collected retrospectively from 33 hospitals in Hubei Province, China, from January 1, 2020, to March 25, 2020.

Background: Total leukocyte and differential Leukocyte counts are prognostic indictors in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, there is no data available regarding their prognostic utility in very old patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The aim of this study is to investigate the potential role of different leukocyte parameters in predicting the mortality among very old patients with AMI.

Purpose: Liver cancer or hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is considered as one of the most frequent malignancies with significantly high morbidity and mortality across the globe. MicroRNAs (miRs) are regarded as important regulators of liver cancer formation and its development. However, the full biochemical mechanism of their role is still very less understood.

Background And Aims: Compared with what is known about the prognostic value of lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] in middle-aged patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), less is understood concerning the role of Lp(a) in oldest-old (≥80 years old) with ASCVD. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between Lp(a) and cardiovascular death (CD) among the oldest-old with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: A total of 1008 patients with AMI, older than 80 years, were consecutively enrolled between January 2012 and August 2018.
