Objectives: To investigate the development and validation of a radiomics nomogram based on PET/CT for guiding personalized targeted therapy in patients with lung adenocarcinoma mutation(s) in the gene.

Methods: A cohort of 109 (77/32 in training/validation cohort) consecutive lung adenocarcinoma patients with an mutation was enrolled in this study. A total of 1672 radiomic features were extracted from PET and CT images, respectively.

Multiple factors are known to contribute to the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemic injury, including microRNAs (miRNAs). However, the precise mechanism of miRNAs involvement in cerebral ischemia remains largely unclear. In the current study, we found that miR-217 was significantly upregulated in ischemic stroke models, and the upregulation of miR-217 was associated with the development of post-stroke cognitive impairment.

Objective: This study aims to investigate the correlation between α-amylase in tracheal aspirates and risk factors of aspiration, as well as ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), in elderly patients undergoing mechanical ventilation and explore the clinical value of α-amylase for predicting VAP.

Methods: Tracheal aspirates were collected from elderly patients within 2 weeks after tracheal intubation in mechanical ventilation, and α-amylase was detected. Patients were grouped according to the presence of VAP.

Positron emission tomography/integrated computed tomography (PET/CT) provides the most accurate imaging modality for preoperative lung cancer staging. However, the diagnostic accuracy of maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) for mediastinal (N2) lymph nodes (LN) is unclear. We compared SUVmax, the ratio of LN to primary tumor SUVmax (SUVn/t), and SUVn/t multiplied by maximal tumor diameter (SUVindex) in terms of their abilities to predict mediastinal LN malignancy.

Although the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI) erlotinib and gefitinib have shown marked effects against EGFR-mutated lung cancer, patients acquire resistance by various mechanisms, including the EGFR T790M mutation and Met induction, consequently suffering relapse. Thus, novel agents to overcome EGFR-TKI resistance are urgently needed. We aimed to investigate the inhibitory effects of a combination of BIBW2992 (irreversible EGFR inhibitor)/ARQ 197 (MET inhibitor) on the human lung adenocarcinoma cell line H1975.

Primary intracerebral Rosai-Dorfman disease.

J Clin Neurosci

October 2010

Department of Neurology, The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) General Hospital, 28 Fuxing Road, Hai Dian District, Beijing 100853, China.

Sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy (SHML), also known as Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD), is an idiopathic histiocytic disorder of lymph nodes and extranodal sites. Central nervous system (CNS) manifestations, particularly in the absence of nodal disease, are rare. Intracranial RDD clinically and radiologically resembles meningioma, and histologic examination is essential for a definitive diagnosis.
