p16 flow cytometry of exfoliated cervical cells: Its role in quantitative pathology and clinical diagnosis of squamous intraepithelial lesions.

Background: P16 is a surrogate signature compensating for the specificity and/or sensitivity deficiencies of the human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA and Papanicolaou smear (Pap) co-test for detecting high-grade cervical squamous intraepithelial lesions or worse (HSIL+). However, traditional p16INK4A immunostaining is labour intensive and skill demanding, and subjective biases cannot be avoided. Herein, we created a high-throughput, quantitative diagnostic device, p16INK4A flow cytometry (FCM) and assessed its performances in cervical cancer screening and prevention.

High expression of S100P is associated with unfavorable prognosis and tumor progression in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer.

Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that S100P is involved in the tumorigenesis and progression of multiple cancers. In the current study, we evaluated the expression of S100P in epithelial ovarian cancer and assessed its relevance to clinicopathological characteristics. Moreover, we investigated the biological effects of S100P using A2780 and SKOV3 cells.

[Internal fixation with the supporting steel of AO femoral condyles for treatment of complicated distal femoral fractures].

Objective: To explore the technique and clinical effects of internal fixation of complicated distal femoral fractures using the supporting steel of AO femoral condyles.

Methods: From October 2001 to February 2004, 23 cases of complicated distal femoral fractures were treated with open reduction and internal fixation using the supporting steel of AO femoral condyles. Of 23 cases, there were 19 males and 4 females, aged 27-55 years.
