Background: Pilots often face and need to overcome a diverse range of unfavorable conditions, of which hypoxic exposure is the most common. Studies have reported that hypoxia can induce a decrease in cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the brains of both humans and animals. Hypoxia and the associated cerebral hemodynamic changes can contribute to cognitive performance deficits that may endanger flight safety and increase the risk of accidents.

To study the association between human 8-oxoguanine giycosylase 1 (hOGG1) gene polymorphisms and the risk of laryngeal carcinoma. A total of 86 patients with laryngeal carcinoma treated in The Air Force General Hospital and the Bozhou People's Hospital of Anhui Province from Jan 2010 to Dec 2014 were included in experimental group, and 86 healthy adults were selected as control group. The hOGG1 gene polymorphisms of subjects in two group were detected with by polymerase chain reaction amplification and gene sequencing technology, the differences in hOGG1 gene polymorphisms between two groups were analyzed.

Objective: To observe the efficacy of matched unrelated donor hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) with transfusion of multipotent mesenchymal cells (MSC) in pediatric severe aplastic anemia (SAA).

Methods: 19 children with SAA received matched unrelated donor HSCT with MSC, and the hematopoietic recovery and transplant-associated complications of these children were monitored.

Results: All patients achieved rapid hematopoietic reconstruction after HSCT, and the median durations to neutrophil and platelet recovery were 12 (9-21) days and 14 (8-24) days respectively, but delayed rejection occurred in one case four months after HSCT.

Background: Phenoxyethanol is a widely used preservative in personal care products. Transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) on cell membrane is activated by TRPV1 agonist capsaicin resulting in an opening of the channel for calcium influx, which is linked with neurosensory sensations characterized by itching, burning and stinging of skin. Whether uncomfortable skin sensations caused by phenoxyethanol claimed by people having sensitive skin are also due to activation of TRPV1 has not been reported in the literature.

Previous studies suggest that apoptosis of carcinoma cells led by photodynamics is mainly intrinsic apoptosis, but whether the extrinsic pathway is involved in the treatment of carcinoma by photodynamic therapy is not confirmed. This research investigated the effect of ALA-PDT on the proliferation and apoptosis of SCC cell A431 and COLO-16, and discussed the role played by JAK/STAT3 signal pathway in this process. Our data showed that the expression levels STAT3 and p-STAT3 protein in the cancer tissue are higher than the corresponding adjacent tissue to carcinoma.

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of the conditioning regimen with busulfan plus cyclophosphamide (BU+CY) or total body irradiation plus cyclophosphamide (TBI+CY) on haploidentical stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in hematologic malignancy.

Methods: The clinical outcomes of 77 HSCT recipients with hematologic malignancy from January 2001 to December 2010, including 21 AML, 33 ALL, 19 CML and 4 MDS were retrospectively evaluated. Among them, 65 patients obtained complete remission (CR) and 12 non-remission (NR) before transplantation; 39 patients received conditioning regimen with BU+CY, and 38 with TBI+CY.

The resonance Raman (RR) spectra of six types of human brain tissues are examined using a confocal micro-Raman system with 532-nm excitation in vitro. Forty-three RR spectra from seven subjects are investigated. The spectral peaks from malignant meningioma, stage III (cancer), benign meningioma (benign), normal meningeal tissues (normal), glioblastoma multiforme grade IV (cancer), acoustic neuroma (benign), and pituitary adenoma (benign) are analyzed.
