Congenital cleft lip and palate is one of the common deformities in the craniomaxillofacial region. The current study aimed to explore the perceptual pattern of cleft-related speech produced by Mandarin-speaking patients with repaired cleft palate using the task-based functional magnetic resonance imaging (task-fMRI) technique. Three blocks of speech stimuli, including hypernasal speech, the glottal stop, and typical speech, were played to 30 typical adult listeners with no history of cleft palate speech exploration.

Hyperglycaemia causes impairment of osteogenic differentiation and accelerates stem cell senescence, resulting in weakened osteogenesis and disordered bone metabolism. Phytic acid (PA) is an antioxidant that is reportedly beneficial to bone homeostasis. The present study aims to clarify how PA affects the osteogenic capacity and cellular senescence of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) exposed to high-glucose environments, as well as the potential molecular mechanisms.

Peroxinectin, which has both peroxidase and cell adhesion activities, is crucial for invertebrate innate immune responses. In this study, we first cloned the full-length cDNA of Procambarus clarkii Peroxinectin (denoted as Pc-Px) and evaluated its immune roles. The Pc-Px cDNA had 2460 base pairs (bp) and 819 amino acid residues, including peroxidase domain and a putative integrin-binding motif.

Objective: The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the internal adaptation, fracture resistance, and fracture pattern of the residual roots and crowns of molars restored with computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) glass fiber post-cores, and compare them with three other post-core restorations.
Materials And Methods: We selected 32 extracted maxillary first molars and divided them into four groups according to the post-core system: traditional casting titanium (Ti) post-cores (TC group); Ti post-cores fabricated with selective laser melting (SLM group); CAD/CAM glass fiber post-cores of the split type (CCS group); and prefabricated glass fiber posts and composite resin cores (PF group). The internal adaptation was analyzed with microcomputed tomography.

One of the major obstacles to the effective application of vascularized fruit is an insufficient understanding of the relationship between the microenvironment and neovascular homeostasis. The role of extracellular matrix stiffness in regulating the structural and functional stability of neovascularization has not yet been elucidated. This study explored the effects of matrix stiffness on neovascular homeostasis in nude mice.

The biological samples of oral genetic diseases and rare diseases are extremely precious. Collecting and preserving these biological samples are helpful to elucidate the mechanisms and improve the level of diagnose and treatment of oral genetic diseases and rare diseases. The standardized construction of biobanks for oral genetic diseases and rare diseases is important for achieving these goals.

Aim: Recently, miR-27b-5p was shown to be abundantly expressed in extracellular vehicles (EVs) from the inflammatory microenvironment. This study determined the role of miR-27b-5p in regulating osteogenic and odontogenic differentiation of stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHEDs) and further examined the regulatory mechanism of bone morphogenetic protein receptor type-1A (BMPR1A).
Methodology: Characteristics of SHEDs and SHEDs-EVs derived from SHEDs were evaluated respectively.

Objectives: We aimed to quantitatively compare the area and volume of artifacts in cone beam computed tomography produced by mesoporous calcium silicate nanoparticles (MCSNs), AH Plus sealer, and iRoot SP sealer when used as root canal sealers.
Methods: We prepared 40 single-rooted mandibular premolars and divided them into an MCSN sealer group, an AH Plus sealer group, an iRoot SP sealer group, and a no-sealer (control) group. We filled the canals with gutta-percha using the single-cone method and subjected them to conebeam computed tomography before and after the placement of root fillings using the same exposure parameters.

Periodontitis is a chronic, inflammatory, and destructive disease caused by the imbalance of host immune response and dental biofilm, and has strong epidemiological and pathogenesis correlations with systemic diseases. The immune response in periodontitis involves both innate and adaptive immunity, with numerous immune cells and inflammatory pathways participating in a complex network of interactions. In the past decade, the concept of "trained immunity" has emerged, which highlights the memory characteristics of innate immunity, thus opening up a new avenue of research.

In the case of periodontitis, local microecological imbalance can cause a large number of plaque biofilm accumulations, leading to the destruction of periodontal tissue and attachment loss, which makes it particularly difficult for the periodontal regenerative healing. In order to overcome the clinical treatment dilemma of periodontitis, periodontal tissue regeneration therapy assisted by new biomaterials has become a hot topic in recent years, among which electrospinning biomaterials with good biocompatibility have attracted wide attention. In this paper, based on periodontal clinical problems, the importance of functional regeneration is presented and clarified.

To investigate the potential role of COVID-19 in relation to Behcet's disease (BD) and to search for relevant biomarkers. We used a bioinformatics approach to download transcriptomic data from peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of COVID-19 patients and PBMCs of BD patients, screened the common differential genes between COVID-19 and BD, performed gene ontology (GO) and pathway analysis, and constructed the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, screened the hub genes and performed co-expression analysis. In addition, we constructed the genes-transcription factors (TFs)-miRNAs network, the genes-diseases network and the genes-drugs network to gain insight into the interactions between the 2 diseases.

Nonsyndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate (NSCL/P) is a common craniofacial birth defect with complex etiologies. Recently, the dysregulation of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) has been implicated in many developmental diseases, including NSCL/P. However, the functions and mechanisms of lncRNAs in NSCL/P have not been fully elucidated.

Furcation involvement (FI) is the lesion and destruction of periodontium that spread to the root furcation of multi-root teeth, where periodontal pockets, loss of periodontal attachment and resorption of alveolar bone are formed. Furcation involvement is a common concomitant lesion of periodontitis. The severity of furcation involvement can directly affect the prognosis of periodontitis.

Inflammatory jaw bone diseases are common in stomatology, including periodontitis, peri-implantitis, medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw, radiation osteomyelitis of the jaw, age-related osteoporosis, and other specific infections. These diseases may lead to tooth loss and maxillofacial deformities, severely affecting patients' quality of life. Over the years, the reconstruction of jaw bone deficiency caused by inflammatory diseases has emerged as a medical and socioeconomic challenge.
