The widespread use of antibiotics often increases bacterial resistance. Herein, we reported a silver peroxide-incorporated carbon dots (defined as AgO-CDs) with high photothermal conversion efficiency viaoxidation process. The prepared AgO-CDs exhibited ultra-small size of 2.

The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)-stimulator of interferon genes (STING) pathway is a critical innate immune pathway primarily due to its vital DNA sensing mechanism in pathogen defence. Recent research advances have shown that excessive activation or damage to the cGAS-STING pathway can exacerbate chronic inflammatory responses, playing a significant role in metabolic dysfunction and aging, leading to the development of related diseases such as obesity, osteoporosis, and neurodegenerative diseases. This article reviews the structure and biological functions of the cGAS-STING signaling pathway and discusses in detail how this pathway regulates the occurrence and development of metabolic and age-related diseases.

The chi-square test and correlation analysis demonstrated that the relative expression levels of keratin 17 (KRT17) and collagen type I α1 chain (COL1A1) were significantly higher in EC with diabetes. Expression of KRT17 was correlated with blood glucose (r = 0.

Aberrant accumulation of circulating follicular helper T cells (cTfh) has been found in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of Graves' disease (GD) patients. However, the underlying mechanism that contributes to the imbalance of cTfh cells remains unknown. Previously, studies described a GD-related circular RNAs (circRNAs)-circZNF644 that might be associated with cTfh cells.

Exosomes derived from neighboring v-raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1 inhibitor (BRAFi)-resistant melanoma cells mediate the formation of resistance in melanoma cells sensitive to BRAFi. The function and molecular mechanisms of exosomal miRNA in BRAFi resistance of melanoma have not been studied. We found that the expression of miR-19a in BRAFi resistant melanoma cells was significantly higher than that in sensitive cells, and miR-19a contributes to the resistance of melanoma cells to BRAFi by targeting immunoglobulin-like domains protein 1 (LRIG1).

Objectives: Tibial tubercle is a crucial player in maintaining the structural integrity and functional stability of the knee joint. Currently, there is no standardized protocol for the classification and treatment of tibial tubercle fractures in adults. This study analyzed the incidence and treatment strategies of tibial tubercle fractures in adults according to the four-column and nine-segment classification system.

Objective: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NC) is critical in treating locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC). However, the effect of body composition, grip strength, and physical performance during neoadjuvant chemotherapy remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the impact of these factors on perioperative clinical outcomes in LAGC patients undergoing NC.

This study aims to explore the predictive value of T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), and early-delayed phases enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) radiomics prediction model in determining human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 status in breast cancer. A retrospective study was conducted, involving 187 patients with confirmed breast cancer by postsurgical pathology at Zhenjiang First People's Hospital during January 2021 and May 2023. Immunohistochemistry or fluorescence in situ hybridization was used to determine the HER-2 status of these patients, with 48 cases classified as HER-2 positive and 139 cases as HER-2 negative.

Tumor vaccine, which can effectively prevent tumor recurrence and metastasis, is a promising tool in tumor immunotherapy. However, heterogeneity of tumors and the inability to achieve a cascade effect limit the therapeutic effects of most developing tumor vaccine. We have developed a cascading immunoinducible in-situ mannose-functionalized polydopamine loaded with imiquimod phenylboronic hyaluronic acid nanocomposite gel vaccine (M/P-PDA@IQ PHA) through a boronic ester-based reaction.

Disruption of corticospinal tracts (CST) is a leading factor for motor impairments following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in the striatum. Previous studies have shown that therapeutic hypothermia (HT) improves outcomes of ICH patients. However, whether HT has a direct protection effect on the CST integrity and the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) triggers severe neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment, where microglial M1 polarization exacerbates the injury and M2 polarization mitigates damage. Mesenchymal stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (MSC-EVs), carrying microRNA (miR)-140-5p, offer therapeutic promise by targeting the cAMP/PKA/CREB pathway and modulating microglial responses, demonstrating a novel approach for addressing SAH-induced brain injury. This research explored the role of miR-140-5p delivered by MSC-EVs in mitigating brain damage following SAH.

Background: Clear cell sarcoma (CCS) is a rare soft-tissue sarcoma. The most common metastatic sites for CCS are the lungs, bones and brain. CCS is highly invasive and mainly metastasizes to the lung, followed by the bone and brain; however, pancreatic metastasis is relatively rare.

Circular RNAs are a class of noncoding RNAs with covalently linked 5' and 3' ends that arise from backsplicing events. The absence of a 5' cap and a 3' poly(A) tail makes circular RNAs relatively more stable than their linear counterparts. They are evolutionary conserved and tissue-specific, and some show disease-specific expression patterns.

Background And Aims: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), currently referred to as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), affects approximately 38% of the world's population, yet no pharmacological therapies have been approved for treatment. We conducted a traditional and network meta-analysis to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of drug regimens on NAFLD, and continued to use the old terminology for consistency.
Methods: Randomized, placebo-controlled trials (RCTs) investigating drug therapy in an adult population diagnosed with NAFLD with or without diabetes mellitus were included.

To study the factors associated with the prognosis of patients with sudden deafness to facilitate clinical treatment and improve efficacy. A total of 414 patients with sudden deafness treated in Zhenjiang First People's Hospital from January 2020 to December 2022 were chosen. Relevant data were gathered and the effectiveness of treatment was assessed by comparing hearing test results before and after hospital admission and divided into effective and ineffective groups, and the effectiveness of each factor was analyzed using univariate analysis, Spearman's correlation analysis, and multifactor logistic regression.

The research of liver metastasis is a developing field. The ability of tumor cells to invade the liver depends on the complicated interactions between metastatic cells and local subpopulations in the liver (including Kupffer cells, hepatic stellate cells, liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, and immune-related cells). These interactions are mainly mediated by intercellular adhesion and the release of cytokines.

Compelling evidence has identified circRNAs as crucial regulators in initiation and progression of various cancers, including gastric cancer (GC). However, the function and regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs in GC remain largely unknown. In this study, attention is paid to a novel circular RNA circ1811, which exerts significant downregulated expression in GC tissues compared with adjacent non-cancerous tissues.

Numerous studies have suggested a robust association between amylase and ovarian cancer. however, few amylase-producing ovarian cancers have been reported because amylase is a rare product of ovarian cancer. A case of an elderly female patient with an upper abdominal unfitness, intestinal wall along with uterine adnexal invasion, and high serum and urinary amylase is summarized in this article.
