The incidence of inflammatory diseases, including infections, autoimmune disorders, and tumors, is consistently increasing year by year, posing a significant and growing threat to human health on a global scale. Recent research has indicated that RNA acetylation modification, a specific type of post-transcriptional modification, may play a critical role in the pathogenesis of these diseases. Among the various mechanisms of RNA modification, N-acetyltransferase 10 (NAT10) has been identified as the sole cytidine acetyltransferase in eukaryotes.

Aim: Diabetic Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a common complication of Type 2 Diabetic Mellitus (T2DM), has been emerging as one of the leading causes of mortality in T2DM patients. During the past decade, although, clinical studies concerning DCM are increasing at an exponential rate, mechanisms underlying this disease still can't be clearly defined. Here, we aim to recognize the function of Suv39h1 in DCM and to explore underlying mechanisms during this disease, providing new insights into DCM and novel guide for clinical therapy development.

To examine the role of CITED2 in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI) in a cell model and uncover the mechanism, hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) -stimulated H9C2 cell model was utilized as a MIRI cell model. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) as well as immunoblot assays were carried out to determine the expression of CITED2 in the MIRI cell model. MTT as well as lactate dehydrogenase assays were employed to detect the survival of H/R-stimulated H9C2 cells.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to analyze differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to develop a prognosis risk model to better predict patient outcomes.
  • Using transcriptome data from 374 HCC samples, researchers identified 258 prognostic DEGs and focused on six key genes (CDK1, CCNA2, BUB1, CDC20, CCNB1, and TOP2A) to build the model.
  • The results showed that patients identified as high-risk had significantly lower overall survival rates compared to low-risk patients, highlighting the effectiveness of the model with AUC values indicating good predictive performance over 5 years.

November 2024

Department of Laboratory, The Affiliated Suzhou Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou Municipal Hospital, Gusu School, Nanjing Medical University, Suzhou, China.

Dysfunction of zinc finger protein 652 (ZNF652) is associated with various malignant tumors. However, the role of ZNF652 in lung cancer (LC) is poorly understood. Here, we identified that ZNF652 was downregulated in human LC tissues and cell lines.

Background: Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC) poses a significant health challenge in China due to its high incidence and mortality. Single-cell transcriptomics has transformed the approach to cancer research, allowing detailed analysis of cellular and molecular heterogeneity. The interaction between the transcription factor STAT1 and the tumor suppressor LHPP is crucial, potentially influencing cancer progression and therapeutic outcomes.

Background: Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) is widely acknowledged for detecting cytosolic chromatin fragments and triggering innate immune responses through the production of the second messenger cGAMP, which subsequently activates the adaptor protein STING. However, the role of cGAS in regulating metabolic reprogramming independently of STING activation has not yet been explored.

Methods: Gene set enrichment pathway analysis (GSEA) based on TCGA transcriptomics, combined with Seahorse metabolic analysis of CRC cell lines and human normal colonic mucosa cell line FHC, was performed to profile the metabolic features in CRC.

Electronic address:

The regeneration of osteochondral defects is challenging due to the complex structure of the osteochondral unit. This study aimed to develop a biomimetic scaffold by loading growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) into poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles and incorporating them into polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffolds to promote synchronized osteochondral regeneration. The nanoparticles were successfully immobilized onto PCL scaffolds pre-modified with polydopamine (PDA) to enhance cell adhesion and proliferation.

Department of Pharmacy, Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, 155 Hanzhong Avenue, Qinhuai District, Nanjing 210029, P. R. China.

The occurrence and development of depression are closely related to disorders of the brain and peripheral substances. Abnormal metabolites in the blood affect the signal regulation function of the nerve center, which is one of the key factors for depression episodes. This study was focused on metabolites in serum and the mechanism of its antidepressant in the hippocampus.
