There are many clinical scoring criteria for predicting the risk of death in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), but most of the indicators are complex to calculate and are not suitable for use in primary hospitals. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and red cell distribution width (RDW) are blood routine indicators that are easy to obtain and may help primary hospitals to evaluate the risk of death in patients with STEMI. Our aim was to explore the predictive value of NLR combined with RDW in the long-term prognosis of patients with STEMI after emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

PrÉcis: We present a valid and reproducible nomogram that combined the TNM stage as well as the Ki-67 index and carcinoembryonic antigen levels; the nomogram may be an indispensable tool to help predict individualized risks of death and help clinicians manage patients with gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma.
Background: To analyze the long-term outcomes of patients with grade 3 GNEC who underwent curative surgery and investigated whether the combination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels and Ki-67 index can predict the prognosis of patients with gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma (GNEC) and constructed a nomogram to predict patient survival.
Methods: In the training cohort, data were collected from 405 patients with GNEC after radical surgery at seven Chinese centers.

Purpose: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a devastating disorder associated with considerably high morbidity and mortality. Reports have shown that AST-120, an oral charcoal adsorbent, can reduce oxidative stress by lowering serum indoxyl sulfate levels. The effects of AST-120 and indoxyl sulfate on kidney injury and cardiac dysfunction were investigated in vivo and in vitro.

In recent years, among all patients with colorectal cancer, the proportion of young patients has been gradually increasing. However, the molecular mechanisms involved in colorectal cancer in the young are largely unknown. In the present study the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas datasets were integrated to elucidate the key gene biomarkers in these patients.

Purpose: To explore the effects of micro ribonucleic acid-141 (miR)-141 on the proliferation and apoptosis of colon cancer cells and its association with the sirtuin 1 (Sirt1) expression.
Methods: The samples of stage I, II, III and IV colon cancer were obtained, and the miRNA expression levels was analyzed, with normal colon tissues as controls. The expression of miR-141 and miR-34 was detected via quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and the cell proliferation and apoptosis in each group were detected via cell counting kit-8 (CCK8) assay, respectively.

Background: High-fidelity simulation (HFS) is an interactive and complex experiential learning pedagogy. Given the limited and inconclusive evidence on the effectiveness of HFS in terms of improving student learning outcomes, a more thorough understanding of students' learning experiences and effects of HFS may inform the improvement of nursing training.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the learning effectiveness score of HFS, its influencing factors, and the learning experience of nursing students.

Background: In this experimental study, we evaluated the use of digital 3D navigation printing in minimizing complications arising from sacroiliac screw misplacement.
Methods: A total of 13 adult pelvic specimens were studied using 3D navigation printing. Mimics software was used for preoperative planning and for obtaining sacrum median sagittal resection and long axis resection of the S1 pedicle center by 3D segmentation.
Objective The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness and safety of low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (LF-rTMS) in patients with poststroke aphasia. Method We comprehensively searched for eligible studies from 11 electronic medical databases from their inception to February 20, 2019. Randomized controlled trials reporting the effectiveness of LF-rTMS for patients with poststroke aphasia were included.

As a common plasma protein, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is widely applied as the tumor biomarker for the diagnosis of many cancers. To develop a low cost, high sensitive and high-throughput method for the determination of AFP is significant for the disease diagnosis. In this work, an immunoassay with sandwich-type structures was performed on a paper-based chip for the analysis of AFP.

Endometriosis is a common gynecological disease, ectopic endometrium can invade any part of the body, usually in the ovary and uterine sacral ligament, while endometriosis invades the intestinal wall to cause intestinal obstruction is very rare, which easily leads to misdiagnosis. In this case report, we present a case of sigmoid endometriosis with bowel obstruction. Pathological examination is the main basis for the diagnosis of intestinal endometriosis, and the comprehensive treatment of surgery and hormonal therapy is an effective method for the treatment of intestinal endometriosis.

Introduction: Bladder cancer metastasis seriously affects the prognosis of patients, but its molecular mechanism is unclear. This study sought to explore the roles of tissue factor pathway inhibitor-2 (TFPI-2) gene overexpression in the infiltration and metastasis of bladder cancer.
Materials: Firstly, real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry were used to compare the mRNA and protein expression levels, respectively, of TFPI-2 and matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) in adjacent non-tumoral tissues, muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) tissues, and non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) tissues.
