Background: Traumatic defects of the proper digital nerve in the thumb affect tactile perception of the thumb pulp. This article reports on the treatment of the defect using a pedicle nerve graft taken from the dorsal branch of the proper digital nerve of the index or long finger, or both.
Methods: From May of 2006 to March of 2010, the pedicle nerve graft was used in 16 thumbs in 16 patients.

Background: This article reports sensory reconstruction of a finger pulp defect using a dorsal homodigital island flap including double dorsal branches of the proper digital nerves.
Methods: From February of 2008 to December of 2009, the dorsal homodigital island flap was used in 15 fingers in 15 patients. The average patient age was 32 years.

Objective: To investigate the association between methylthioadenosine phosphorylase (MTAP) gene single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) and myocardial infarction (MI) in the Chinese Han ethnicity.
Methods: 432 patients suffered from myocardial infarction and 430 controls were involved for case and control groups, respectively. Nine tag SNPs in MTAP gene were selected and genotyped.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of XiangLingGuBao (XLGB) on femoral fracture healing in ovariectomized (OVX) rats.
Methods: Forty 12-week-old female SD rats weighing (258 +/- 14) g were divided randomly into 4 groups (n = 10 per group): group A, sham operation by opening the abdominal cavity; group B, bilateral ovariectomy; group C, bilateral ovariectomy, transverse midshaft fracture of the right femur with intramedullary nail fixation, and normal saline by gavage; group D, bilateral ovariectomy, transverse midshaft fracture of the right femur with intramedullary nail fixation, and 250 mg/(kg x d) XLGB by gavage. The weight of rabbits in groups A and B was measured 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 weeks after operation.
