Background: In ORIENT-15 study, sintilimab plus chemotherapy demonstrated significant improvement on overall survival (OS) versus placebo plus chemotherapy in first-line treatment of advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Here, we report effect of sintilimab plus chemotherapy on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with advanced ESCC.

Methods: From December 14, 2018 to August 28, 2022, HRQoL was evaluated in all randomized patients using European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 items (QLQ-C30), EORTC Quality of Life Questionnaire Oesophageal Cancer Module 18 items (QLQ-OES18), and visual analogue scale (VAS) of the EuroQol five-dimensional five-level questionnaire (EQ-5D-5L).

A DLRN was developed for predicting recurrence-free survival (RFS) in localized ccRCC patients, and another DLRN was developed for predicting overall survival (OS) in metastatic ccRCC patients.

In order to assess the metastatic potential of residual hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following insufficient radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and to improve the current animal model, an insufficient RFA orthotopic nude mouse model of HCC was developed in the present study. A human HCC orthotopic nude mouse model was established using HCCLM3 cells, which has a high metastatic potential, labeled with green fluorescent protein. A total of 12 nude mice within the RFA group received insufficient RFA and 12 mice in the control group received RFA needle electrode puncture of the tumor without ablation, 3 weeks after implantation.

Ecto-5'-nucleotidase (NT5E) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored cell surface protein, and has been suggested to be dysregulated in most types of human cancer including gastric cancer. The aim of the present study was to present more evidence about the clinical and prognostic value of Ecto-5'-nucleotidase in gastric cancer patients, and preliminarily explore the biological function of Ecto-5'-nucleotidase in gastric cancer cells. In our study, high Ecto-5'-nucleotidase expression was observed in gastric cancer tissues and cell lines, respectively, compared with normal gastric mucosa tissues cells.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of co‑culture with amniotic epithelial cells (AECs) on the biological characteristics of amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs), to compare the expression of C‑X‑C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) in co‑cultured AMSCs and to investigate the roles of the stromal cell‑derived factor‑1 (SDF‑1)/CXCR4 axis in the homing and migration of AMSCs. AMSCs were isolated from human amniotic membranes, purified and then differentiated into osteoblasts and adipocytes in vitro, which was verified by von Kossa Staining and Oil Red O staining. Cell viability was measured by Cell Counting kit‑8 and trypan blue assays at 24, 48 and 72 h, the expression of CXCR4 was analyzed by immunofluorescence‑based flow cytometry and reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and the migration ability of AMSCs in vitro was observed by a migration assay.

Columnar cell variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (CCV-PTC) is an unusual neoplasm, the clinical behavior of which mainly depends on the encapsulation or infiltration. Patients with extensive extrathyroidal extension usually have an aggressive biological behavior. This study confirmed that beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) secreting invasive CCV-PTC has good prognosis comparing with a cohort of follicular cell differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
