Relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma patients with extramedullary disease (EMD) have unfavorable prognosis and lack effective therapy. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell activities in EMD have yet to be determined; how EMD-specific microenvironment influences the clinical outcomes of CAR T-cell therapy remains of great interest. In this prospective cohort study, patients with histologically confirmed extra-osseous EMD were enrolled and treated with combined anti-BCMA and anti-CD19 CAR T-cell therapy from May 2017 to September 2023.

N6-methyladenosine (mA) is dynamically regulated by methyltransferases (termed "writers") and demethylases (referred to as "erasers"), facilitating a reversible modulation. Changes in mA levels significantly influence cellular functions, such as RNA export from the nucleus, mRNA metabolism, protein synthesis, and RNA splicing. They are intricately associated with a spectrum of pathologies.

Purpose: To enhance the accuracy of real-time four-dimensional cone beam CT (4D-CBCT) imaging by incorporating spatiotemporal correlation from the sequential projection image into the single projection-based 4D-CBCT estimation process.
Methods: We first derived 4D deformation vector fields (DVFs) from patient 4D-CT. Principal component analysis (PCA) was then employed to extract distinctive feature labels for each DVF, focusing on the first three PCA coefficients.

This study aimed to explore the correlation between serum ferritin and additional biomarkers associated with iron metabolism, as well as their connection to muscle atrophy and frailty in the community-dwelling middle-aged and elderly population. The study included 110 middle-aged and elderly participants. Participants were categorized into an iron accumulation group (31 cases) and a normal iron group (79 cases) based on the standard ferritin values for men and women.

We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the Intranasal Atomized Dexmedetomidine (IAD)+Intranasal Atomized Butorphanol (IAB) combination therapy on adult burn patients undergoing dressing changes. Herein, 46 adult burn patients were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: Dexmedetomidine-Butorphanol (DB) and Saline-Butorphanol (SB), treated with atomized dexmedetomidine+butorphanol and saline +butorphanol, respectively. The primary outcomes were the Ramsay Sedation Scale (RSS) and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) scores.

Aims: To assess the correlation between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP) and the prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) among individuals with diabetes.
Methods: A total of 1,555 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey were enrolled in this cross-sectional study after excluding individuals without diabetes and those who lacked data on Hs-CRP, diabetes and CVD. All participants were divided into four groups based on quartiles of Hs-CRP: Q1 (≤ 1.

Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are lipid bilayer-enclosed particles secreted by living cells. Here, we present a protocol for the collection and isolation of sEVs derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hucMSCs). We describe steps for characterizing their morphology and integrity by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and size distribution using nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and an atomic force microscope (AFM).

Unlabelled: The clinical data analysis found that, compared with the traditional obesity index, the waist-weight ratio (WWR) has more advantages in predicting abnormal bone mineral density in subjects with type 2 diabetes. WWR may serve as a new predictive indicator for osteoporosis in T2DM patients.
Purpose: This study was designed to explore the correlation between obesity-related indices and bone mineral density (BMD) and its influencing factors in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients.

Background: The aim of this study was to explore the associations of serum remnant cholesterol (RC) levels with the progression and regression of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in Chinese adults.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in 13,903 individuals who underwent transient elastography tests (cohort 1) and a longitudinal study in 17,752 individuals who underwent at least two health check-up exams with abdominal ultrasound (cohort 2). Anthropometric and biochemical parameters were collected.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and prognosis of Rituximab combined with DHAX and CHOP regimen in the first-line treatment of elderly patients with newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
Methods: A total of 36 elderly patients with DLBCL who were admitted and treated with 3 of more courses of treatment from August 2011 to August 2021 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into rituximab±DHAX (R±DHAX) regimen group (18 cases) and rituximab±CHOP (R-CHOP) regimen group (18 cases) according to the treatment plan, and clinical features, efficacy and survival of the patients were observed.
Results: Compared with R-CHOP group, patients of the R±DHAX group were older, and had worse performance status and higher IPI score, the differences between two groups in age, ECOG score and IPI score were statistically significant ( =0.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the incidence of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), which has been attributed to the increasing prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity. MAFLD affects more than one-third of adults worldwide, making it the most prevalent liver disease globally. Moreover, MAFLD is considered a significant risk factor for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with MAFLD-related HCC cases increasing.

Immunosuppressive regulatory cells (IRCs) play important roles in negatively regulating immune response, and are mainly divided into myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) and regulatory T cells (Tregs). Large numbers of preclinical and clinical studies have shown that inhibition or reduction of IRCs could effectively elevate antitumor immune responses. However, several studies also reported that excessive inhibition of IRCs function is one of the main reasons causing the side effects of cancer immunotherapy.

Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) caused by chemotherapy is a common complication in female cancer survivors of childbearing age. Traditional methods including mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) transplant and hormone replacement therapy have limited clinical application due to their drawbacks, and more methods need to be developed. In the current study, the potential effects and underlying mechanisms of human umbilical cord MSC-derived extracellular vesicles (hUCMSC-EVs) were investigated in a cisplatin (CDDP)-induced POI mouse model and a human granulosa cell (GC) line.

Olfactory receptors (ORs) are G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) with seven transmembrane domains that bind to specific exogenous chemical ligands and transduce intracellular signals. They constitute the largest gene family in the human genome. They are expressed in the epithelial cells of the olfactory organs and in the non-olfactory tissues such as the liver, kidney, heart, lung, pancreas, intestines, muscle, testis, placenta, cerebral cortex, and skin.
