Cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM) is a neurological disorder characterized by degenerative changes in the spinal cord and compression of the spinal cord and its adjacent structures due to various reasons, such as intervertebral disc herniation. The Japan Orthopaedic Association score is a disease-specific outcome tool that provides quantitative measurements for CSM patients. At present, no scholars have developed a model that can directly predict the prognosis of CSM patients.

Snails of the genus Bithynia, whose primary habitat is slow-flowing ponds and ditches, serve as the first intermediate hosts of liver fluke. Currently, approximately 200 million individuals worldwide are at risk of liver fluke infection, yet questions still persist regarding the taxonomic identification of Bithynia genus, a crucial player in the transmission of this disease. Accurate taxonomic classification of the Bithynia genus could significantly enhance current understanding of the disease's transmission mechanisms.

Chronic inflammation is a key characteristic of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and is associated with follicular dysplasia in PCOS. PCOS patients treated with 1000 mg resveratrol (RES) daily for 3 months showed significant improvement in menstrual cycle regularity compared to the placebo group. This investigation explores potential impact of RES on a rat model of PCOS.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is highly prevalent in women of reproductive age worldwide, exhibits highly heterogeneous clinical presentation and biochemical parameters, and has no cure. This study aimed to investigate the role of miR-34a-5p in PCOS, its effect on glycolysis in granulosa cells (GCs), and its potential contribution to follicular dysregulation.
Methods: Herein, Follicular follicular fluid (FF) samples were collected from six patients with PCOS and six healthy controls undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer.

Background: While single organ metastases generally present a more optimistic prognosis compared to multiple metastases, the influence of the specific organ site for single organ metastases on prognosis remains undetermined. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the prognostic differences in late-stage gastric cancer with single organ metastasis.
Methods: Data for patients diagnosed with gastric cancer were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database for survival analysis, covering years spanning from 2010 to 2016.

Decreased nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) content has been shown to contribute to metabolic dysfunction during aging, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). However, the effect of NAD on ovulatory dysfunction in PCOS by regulating glycolysis has not been reported. Based on the observations of granulosa cells (GCs) transcriptome data from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, the signal pathways including glycolysis and nicotinate-nicotinamide metabolism were significantly enriched, and most genes of the above pathway like LDHA and SIRT2 were down-regulated in PCOS patients.

Background: Extracellular matrix protein 1 (ECM1) can inhibit TGFβ activation, but its antifibrotic action remains largely unknown. This study aims to investigate ECM1 function and its physical interaction with the profibrotic connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in fibrosis and ductular reaction (DR).
Methods: Ecm1 knockouts or animals that ectopically expressed this gene were subjected to induction of liver fibrosis and DR by feeding 3,5-diethoxycarbonyl-1,4-dihydrocollidine (DDC) or α-naphthyl-isothiocyanate (ANIT).

Patients with Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have chronic low-grade ovarian inflammation. Inflammation can cause telomere dysfunction, and telomere and telomerase complex are also involved in regulating inflammation. However, the specific mechanisms of inflammatory signaling feedback and telomere-telomerase mutual regulation remain to be discovered.

Three novel copper(II)-based complexes Cu-1, Cu-2, and Cu-3 containing sulfamethoxazole or sulfamethazine ligand were obtained, and their single structures were characterized. Both Cu-1 and Cu-3 show a broad spectrum of cytotoxicity than Cu-2, and Cu-1 is more cytotoxic than Cu-3. What's interesting is that Cu-1 can exhibit obvious inhibitory effect on the growth of human triple-negative breast cancer in vivo and vitro through anti-proliferative, anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, pro-apoptotic and cuproptotic synergistic effects.

PTEN-induced kinase1 (PINK1) mutation is the main cause of autosomal recessive inheritance and early-onset Parkinson's disease. Mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I (CI) functional impairment has been considered to be an important factor in the pathogenesis of PD in recent years. In addition, NDUFS3 (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide deoxylase iron-thionein 3) is one of the core subunits of mitochondrial CI.
