Department of Radiology, Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University, Beijing 100050, China. Electronic address:

The functional connectivity of the auditory network is considered to be important in the development of tinnitus. We hypothesized that sound therapy, as a commonly used effective treatment for tinnitus, can modulate the functional connectivity of the auditory network. In this prospective observational study, we recruited 27 tinnitus patients who had undergone 12 weeks of sound therapy and 27 matched healthy controls.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is a malignant disease of plasma cells with complex pathology, causing significant morbidity due to its end-organ destruction. The outcomes of patients with myeloma have significantly improved in the past couple of decades with the introduction of novel agents, such as proteasome inhibitors, immunomodulators, and monoclonal antibodies. However, MM remains incurable and presents considerable individual heterogeneity.

Department of Maxillofacial and E.N.T. Oncology, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital, National Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Key Laboratory of Cancer Prevention and Therapy, Tianjin's Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Tianjin, China.

Background: Oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) is a type of head and neck squamous cell cancer, the incidence of which has increased in recent years. Many studies have reported a variety of prognostic markers of OPC, but they are either expensive or difficult to obtain. Therefore, we retrospectively studied the prognostic value of circulating neutrophil count (CNC) in patients with OPC, with the aim of providing a theoretical basis for further prognostic stratification.

Urinary magnesium predicts risk of cardiovascular disease in Chronic Kidney Disease stage 1-4 patients.

Clin Nutr

April 2021

Department of Nephrology, Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, 87 Xiangya Road, Changsha, Hunan, 410008, China. Electronic address:

Observational studies on dietary or circulating magnesium and risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) stage 1-4 have reported no-to-modest inverse associations. 24 h Urinary magnesium concentration (24 h UMg), an indicator of intestinal magnesium absorption, may provide better insight into the connection of CKD progression. We examined 3179 participants aged 18-74 years with CKD stage 1-4 in the Chinese Cohort Study of Chronic Kidney Disease (C-STRIDE) study, a prospective population-based cohort study.

Circular RNAs are a recently discovered subclass of endogenous noncoding RNAs that have been confirmed to play an important role in various pathophysiological processes. However, the underlying function of circular RNAs in osteosarcoma still remains unclear. We aimed to comprehend the function of circ_0032462 in osteosarcoma, as it has been predicted to be highly expressed in osteosarcoma cells.

In this study, we analyzed the role of mammalian STE20-like protein kinase 2 (Mst2), a serine-threonine protein kinase, in Lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-mediated inflammation and apoptosis in the H9C2 cardiomyocytes. Mst2 mRNA and protein levels were significantly upregulated in the LPS-treated H9C2 cardiomyocytes. LPS treatment induced expression of IL-2, IL-8, and MMP9 mRNA and proteins in the H9C2 cardiomyocytes, and this was accompanied by increased caspase-3/9 mediating H9C2 cardiomyocyte apoptosis.

Introduction: Gap junctions are intercellular channels formed by connexin facilitating communication between cells by allowing transfer of ions and small signaling molecules. Connexin 43 (Cx43) is the most ubiquitous connexin in human tissues. Ample evidence suggests the role of gap junction and its connexins such as connexin 43 in human cancers including gastric cancer, which has an important place in the worldwide incidence of cancer and cancer-related deaths.
