Effect of vacuum sealing drainage on the expression of VEGF and miRNA-17-5p in seawater-immersed blast-injury wounds.

The aim of the present study was to compare and observe the expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and miRNA-17-5p during the treatment of seawater-immersed blast-injury wounds (SIBIW) under different conditions of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD), and to identify the optimized range of VSD treatment and partially explain its mechanisms. The bilateral hips and scapulae of experimental pigs (weight, 25-30 kg) were subjected to blast-injury wounds, followed by the seawater immersion. The animals then underwent conventional dressing treatment under 120, 180 and 240 mmHg VSD.

Although clinical medicine of our country has made great progress in recent years, the rescue of massive burn casualties is still facing enormous challenges. No matter it is the top level design, system configuration, plan preparation, training, education, or the operation process, the medical resource allocation, and the treatment efficiency, are far behind the demand of social development. Therefore, further strengthen the construction of emergency medical treatment system of massive burn is the unshirkable responsibility of burn medical workers in our country.

Burn surgery has a glorious history in our country, but it still faces enormous challenges at present: the incidence of burn declines year by year, basic research and clinical diagnosis are more or less disjointed, national medical care and education system need to be further perfected, fusion of new technology lags behind, and army system adjustment in military hospitals is in progress, etc. We need to adjust strategies in time of peace, and prepare for challenges so as to create new splendor.

Advanced parental age and autism risk in children: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: Advanced parental age has raised additional concern as a risk factor of autism. We conducted a meta-analysis of observational studies investigating the association between advanced parental age and risk of autism.

Method: PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched for reports published up to November 11, 2015.

Methods: Data from 71 patients with extrahepatic distal cholangiocarcinoma were retrospectively analyzed.

The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between chronic sleep deprivation (CSD) and the glucose homeostasis in rats. Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into CSD group and control (CON) group.

Evaluation of a whole-blood chemiluminescent immunoassay of IFN-γ, IP-10, and MCP-1 for diagnosis of active pulmonary tuberculosis and tuberculous pleurisy patients.

The study explored the use of IP-10, MCP-1, and IFN-γ as biomarkers to improve the diagnoses of active pulmonary tuberculosis and tuberculous pleurisy. We enrolled 267 individuals, including 134 TB patients, 93 patients with non-tuberculous pulmonary diseases, and 40 healthy controls. Methods: Twenty-four rats were randomly divided into CSD and control (CON) groups. Rats were subjected to CSD by using the modified multiple platform method (MMPM) to establish an animal model of CSD.

[Clinical application of surgical intervention model for repairing tuberculosis wound with sinus tract].

Objective: To retrospectively explore the effectiveness of surgical intervention model for repairing the tuberculosis wound with sinus tract.

Methods: Forty-three patients with tuberculosis wound with sinus tract who met the inclusion criteria were admitted to the 309th Hospital of PLA from January 2010 to October 2015. These patients were divided into test group (n=38) and control group (n=5) according to the different treatment and patient's consent.

Although the extraordinary agent wound is not common, the difficulties of its diagnosis, treatment, and the high medical risk as well as the indeterminacy of its prognosis bring great challenges to the clinicians. It is mainly attributed to the complexities of extraordinary agent wounds and the deficiency in the assessment technic of wound. Therefore, it is necessary and important to establish a precise assessment method to benefit the surgical planning, pre-estimation of peri-operative risk, and the doctor-patient communication.

Effects of Cold Irrigation on Early Results after Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Controlled Study.

Several studies have indicated that pain peaks at 24 to 48 hours after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery. TKA has been associated with disruption in normal sleep patterns, swelling knee, and significant blood loss. However, a satisfactory regime to resolve these mentioned problems has yet to be found.

Assessment of Risk of Aneurysmal Rupture in Patients with Normotensives, Controlled Hypertension, and Uncontrolled Hypertension.

Background: The prevalence of hypertension in patients with intracranial aneurysms has been an increased concern, but it is not well understood if uncontrolled hypertension has impact on aneurysmal rupture. The aim of this study was to determine whether the risk of aneurysmal rupture is higher in uncontrolled hypertensive cohorts than in controlled hypertensive cohorts and normotensive cohorts.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the records and angiographies of 456 patients with aneurysms who were treated at our center between June 2013 and June 2014.

Percutaneous Endovascular Radiofrequency Ablation for Malignant Portal Obstruction: An Initial Clinical Experience.

Purpose: The Habib™ VesOpen Catheter is a new endovascular radiofrequency ablation (RFA) device used to treat malignant portal obstruction. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical feasibility and safety of RFA with this device.

Methods: We collected the clinical records and follow-up data of patients with malignant portal obstruction treated with percutaneous endovascular portal RFA using the Habib™ VesOpen Catheter.

[Advances in the research of pathogenesis and treatment of severe smoke inhalation injury].

Among the fire victims, respiratory tract injury resulted from smoke inhalation is the major cause of death. Particulate substances in smoke, toxic and harmful gas, and chemical substances act together would rapidly induce the occurrence of dramatic pathophysiologic reaction in the respiratory tract, resulting in acute injury to the respiratory tract, thus inducing serious injury to it and acute respiratory distress syndrome, leading to death of the victims. In recent years, the pathophysiologic mechanism of severe smoke inhalation injury has been gradually clarified, thus appreciable advances in its treatment have been achieved.

[Effects of microRNA-146a on Fas-associated factor 2 and inflammatory factors in human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells under the stimulation of cigarette smoke extract].

Objective: Under the premise of smoke inhalation injury, to explore the effects of microRNA-146a on Fas-associated factor 2 (FAF-2) and inflammatory factors in human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells under the stimulation of cigarette smoke extract (CSE).

Methods: (1) The pMIR-FAF-2 recombinant plasmid and the pMIR-FAF-2 recombinant mutated plasmid were constructed. Human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK-293) cells of the third passage were divided into 3 groups according to the random number table, with 5 wells in each group.

Cryoablation Versus Radiofrequency Ablation for Hepatic Malignancies: A Systematic Review and Literature-Based Analysis.

The aim of this study is to summarize and quantify the current evidence on the therapeutic efficacy of cryoablation compared with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in patients with hepatic malignancies in a meta-analysis.Data were collected by searching PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane databases for reports published up to May 26, 2015. Studies that reported data on comparisons of therapeutic efficacy of cryoablation and RFA were included.

Ulinastatin inhibits the inflammation of LPS-induced acute lung injury in mice via regulation of AMPK/NF-κB pathway.

Background: Ulinastatin (ULI), a serine protease inhibitor, had been widely used as a drug for patients with acute inflammatory disorders. However, evidence regarding the anti-inflammatory effect of ulinastatin was still lacking. In this study, we investigated the protective mechanisms of ULI in LPS-induced acute lung injury (ALI).

Auxiliary diagnostic value of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 of whole blood in active tuberculosis.

The aim of this study was to study the expression level of interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) in peripheral blood and its auxiliary diagnostic value in active tuberculosis. A chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay method was used to detect the levels of IFN-γ and MCP-1 in peripheral blood. Then the receiver operating characteristic curve were drawn to determine the threshold of IFN-γ and MCP-1 for diagnosis of active tuberculosis and to evaluate their diagnostic performance.

Effect of perioperative dexmedetomidine on the endocrine modulators of stress response: a meta-analysis.

This study examined the effects of perioperative dexmedetomidine treatment on physiological modulators of surgical stress response. The quality of the included studies was assessed prior to performing meta-analyses of the weighted mean differences in the changes from baseline of stress hormones and interpreted in the light of statistical heterogeneity between the studies. Nineteen studies (844 surgical subjects) data were used for this meta-analysis.

A survey of outcomes and management of patients post fragility fractures in China.

Unlabelled: We found that the fragility hip and vertebral fractures caused excess mortality rates in this Chinese female population, which was unexpectedly lower than those in western countries and other Asian countries. This was the first nationwide survey relating to post-fracture outcomes conducted among Chinese population in Mainland China.

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the mortality, self-care ability, diagnosis, and medication treatment of osteoporosis following fragility hip and vertebral fractures through a nationwide survey among female patients aged over 50 in Mainland China.

Application of vacuum sealing drainage to the treatment of seawater-immersed blast-injury wounds.

The aims of this study were to observe the effects of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) with three different negative pressures on the wound healing rate, macrophage count and the expression of hyaluronic acid (HA) as well as its receptor CD44 in seawater-immersed blast-injury wounds (SIBIW) and to determine the optimal negative pressure value. In a minipig SIBIW model, different suction pressures and routine dressing were applied. Histological and immunohistochemical comparisons as well as molecular biology methods were performed to compare the wound healing conditions, macrophage count and the levels of HA and CD44.

Association between toll-like receptors 9 (TLR9) gene polymorphism and risk of pulmonary tuberculosis: meta-analysis.
