Nanomedicine with programmed drug release can give full play to the synergistic effect of multi-component system in complicated tumor environment. However, the construction of these programmed drug delivery systems often depends on the sophisticated materials design and synthesis. In this study, we successfully designed an indomethacin (IND)-mediated ternary complex system based on a PEG cleavable polyethyleneimine (PEI), indomethacin (IND) and benzene ring containing chemotherapeutic drugs (such as paclitaxel (PTX), doxorubicin and docetaxel).

March 2018

Department of Intensive Care Unit, the 309th Hospital of PLA, Beijing 100091, China. Corresponding author: Zhang Yuxiang, Email:

Platelets play a pivotal role in the thromboembolic, inflammatory, and immunomodulatory process. The alteration of platelet quality often affects the treatment and prognosis of critically ill patients, and has a significant correlation with mortality. With the further research on the function of the platelet, it is found that the abnormal platelet quality can present during the early stage of the illness of the critically ill patients.

Artificial disc replacement alone is unable to completely cure cervical degenerative diseases; thus, a stabilization device markedly improves patient recovery. In order to meet this requirement, an anterior spinal instrumentation combining a prosthetic disc nucleus with a flexible stabilization device (ASI combining PDN/FD) was developed. An artificial disc was designed and manufactured using polyvinyl alcohol hydrogel (PVA-H) with a repeated freeze-melting technique, and subsequently the dehydration and swelling properties of the PVA-H were investigated.

Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies are a group of rare muscular diseases that are characterized by acute, subacute or chronic proximal and symmetric muscle weakness, muscle fiber necrosis and infiltration of inflammatory cells, particularly activated CD8 cytotoxic T cells and phagocytes. 3-n-butylphthalide (NBP) protects mitochondria and reduces the inflammatory response in multiple disease models. In myositis, it has remained elusive whether NBP can protect muscle cells from muscle fiber injury.

One of the classical features observed in patients with burn injury is hyperglycemia. There have been previous reports that a cohort of microRNAs (miRNAs) is differentially expressed in the dermis of patients with burn injury. More specifically, it has been shown that the miR-194 can target the insulin-like growth factor receptor 1 () and silence its protein expression resulting in hyperglycemia.
