Cardiac hypertrophy is the most prevalent compensatory heart disease that ultimately leads to spontaneous heart failure. Mounting evidence suggests that microRNAs (miRs) and endogenous hydrogen sulfide (HS) play a crucial role in the regulation of cardiac hypertrophy. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether inhibition of miR-27a could protect against cardiac hypertrophy by modulating HS signaling.

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease in which pigment is lost in patches of the skin. CD4 T cells are implicated in vitiligo while regulatory T cells (Tregs) could ameliorate vitiligo. Rapamycin together with autoantigen have been shown to induce immunological tolerance and promote Tregs in multiple autoimmune diseases.

Dysfunction of histone deacetylase 10 (HDAC10) has been suggested in the carcinogenesis of cervical cancer (CC). However, its association with microRNAs (miRNAs) in CC remains exclusive. Hence, this study aims to probe the role of HDAC10 in regulating CC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and its correlation with the screened-out miRNA target.

Vestibular aqueduct is a precise structure embedded in the temporal bone and plays a key role in the physiological function of inner ear by maintaining the endolymphatic circulation and buffering the impact from intracranial pressure. Although the alterations on the morphology or volume of vestibular aqueduct result in variety of diseases, the approaches of evaluating the condition of vestibular aqueduct are still unsatisfing because the pathological sections utilized for the 3D construction model most likely undergoes morphological changes. In this study, the vestibular aqueduct images obtained by CT scanning were processed by finite element method to construct the 3D model.

Background: Hyperthermia upregulates DNAJA4, a member of heat shock proteins (HSPs) 40 family, in human keratinocytes and HPV-infected tissue. DNAJA4 deficiency enhances growth arrest induced by hyperthermia. Clusterin (CLU) and phosphorylated ERK (p-ERK) play a role in regulating cell proliferation and apoptosis, under environmental stress.

Vitiligo is a chronic, autoimmune destruction of melanocytes, resulting in progressively expanding depigmented skin patches. Severity of the disorder, which affects approximately 1% of humans, may be mitigated using topical corticosteroids combined with phototherapy; along with other clinical strategies; however, no definitive cures are currently available. Here, the capacity of apigenin, a plant-derived aglycone, to inhibit oxidative stress-mediated melanocyte depletion in vitro using a PIG3V vitiligo perilesional melanocyte cell model is evaluated.

Background: To explore the associations between this treatment and CD4+, CD8+ T-cells, and regulatory T cells (Treg).
Methods: We collected the skin biopsies from 295 patients with nonsegmental vitiligo treated with or without 308-nm excimer laser. We revealed that patients at stable stage showed a better response to 308-nm excimer laser than those at active stage.

This study aimed to explore the effect of lidocaine on the growth of cervical cancer cells (HeLa) and the underlying molecular mechanisms. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and flow cytometry (FCM) were used to detect the cell viability and apoptosis of cervical cancer cells after lidocaine treatment. Lidocaine inhibited cell viability and promoted apoptosis in HeLa cells.

Background: Hyperthermia has proved successful in treating cutaneous human papillomavirus infectious diseases such as plantar wart and condyloma acuminata (CA). Moreover, this treatment provides improved therapeutic efficacy in these conditions as compared with conventional therapies.
Objectives: To investigate the global proteome changes in CA in response to hyperthermia and achieve a better understanding of the mechanisms of hyperthermia therapy against HPV-infectious diseases.

BACKGROUND Adiponectin receptor-1 (AdipoR1) has been reported to be associated with the risk of obesity-associated malignancies, including epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). The aim of this study was to determine if AdipoR1 could serve as a prognosis indicator for patients with EOC. MATERIAL AND METHODS In this study, expression of AdipoR1 in 73 EOC patients consecutively admitted to our hospital was detected by immunohistochemical staining.

Several studies have demonstrated that increased apoptosis plays an essential role in neurodegenerative disorders. It has been demonstrated that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induces apoptosis largely through the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inflammatory mediators. In this study, we investigated the potential protective mechanisms of naringin (Nar), a pummelo peel extract, on LPS-induced PC12 cell apoptosis.

MicroRNAs can affect behaviors of tumor cells by modulating the expression of the target genes that involve tumor growth, invasiveness, and death. The goal of this research is to examine the effects of miR-15a on the proliferation and invasiveness of malignant melanoma cells in vitro, as well as the therapeutic effect of miR-15a in a mouse melanoma model. miR-15a displayed inhibitory effects on proliferation and invasiveness of several malignant melanoma cell lines.

Compelling evidences support an autoimmune basis of non-segmental vitiligo, and dysregulation of CD4(+)CD25(+) regulatory T cell (Treg) is assumed to contribute to the pathogenesis of vitiligo. Serum levels of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), an important immunoregulatory cytokine produced by Treg cells, has been reported significantly decreased in patients with vitiligo. However, relation between the decrease in TGF-β and the dysfunction of Treg cells in pathogenesis of vitiligo was still undemonstrated.

Background: Accumulating evidence suggests that the occurrence of oxidative stress leads to melanocyte degeneration in vitiligo. Elevated level of dopamine (DA), an initiator of oxidative stress, reportedly is found in patients with vitiligo and induces melanocyte death in vitro. DA-treated melanocytes have been used as a model to search for antioxidants for treating vitiligo.
