Purpose: To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) combined with minimally invasive laparoscopic cytoreductive surgery in the treatment of patients with advanced ovarian cancer (AOC).

Methods: The clinical data of 116 patients with AOC were divided into NACT group (NACT combined with laparoscopic cytoreductive surgery, n=58) and control group (cytoreductive surgery alone, n=58). The short-term efficacy, surgery-related indexes, incidence of adverse reactions, and changes in levels of serum human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.

Foxc2 and BMP2 Induce Osteogenic/Odontogenic Differentiation and Mineralization of Human Stem Cells from Apical Papilla.

Stem Cells Int

July 2018

Guangdong Province Key Laboratory of Stomatology, Guanghua School and Hospital of Stomatology, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, Guangdong 510055, China.

As a transcription factor regulated by bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2), Forkhead c2 (Foxc2) plays a pivot role in osteogenesis/odontogenesis. However, the role of Foxc2 and BMP2 in regulating osteo-/odontogenic differentiation and mineralization of stem cells from apical papilla (SCAP) is still uncertain. In this research, overexpression of Foxc2 gene significantly improved the proliferation of SCAP four days and eight days after transfection, but overexpression of both Foxc2 and BMP2 genes significantly inhibited the proliferation of SCAP eight days after transfection.

At present, most of the bone xenograft for clinical application comes from bovine. In recent years, many studies have been done on the clinical application of porcine xenograft bone. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effect of canine mandibular defects reparation with antigen-extracted porcine cancellous bone by imaging examination.

Background: The present study was conducted to evaluate new methods to repair the reproductive function of the oviduct, thereby allowing gametes to combine and grow in vivo under natural circumstances.

Methods: Sixty pathogen-free female New Zealand rabbits were divided into three groups: a wild-type group, an untreated control group, and a treatment group. Disposable sterile newborn sputum suction tubes were inserted into the urogenital tract to instill an Escherichia coli suspension into the uterine cavity to establish the chronic salpingitis model.

Objective: To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) combined with rehabilitation training on motor function and expression of neuronal growth associated protein 43 (GAP-43) and synaptophysin (SYP) in hippocampal CA 3 region in rats with focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (CI/RI).

Methods: A total of 46 SD rats were randomized into normal control, CI/RI model, rehabilitation training (RT), paralysis-side (unilateral)-EA+RT, and bilateral-EA+RT groups (=6 in the normal control group, and =10 in each of the other group). The CI/RI model was established by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCAO) and reperfusion.

The effect of graded glass-zirconia structure on the bond between core and veneer in layered zirconia restorations.

J Mech Behav Biomed Mater

June 2015

Department of Stomatology, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou 510515, China. Electronic address:

Objective: The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that a graded glass-zirconia structure can strengthen the core-veneer bond in layered zirconia materials.

Methods: A graded glass-zirconia structure was fabricated by infiltrating glass compositions developed in our laboratory into a presintered yttria tetrahedral zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) substrate by the action of capillary forces. The wettability of the infiltrated glass and Y-TZP substrate was investigated by the sessile drop technique.

Objective: To determine the predictive value of the presence of maternal islet beta-cell autoantibodies with respect to neonatal outcomes.

Methods: A total of 311 pregnant women with abnormal 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) results were enrolled in this study. Maternal glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), islet cell autoantibodies (ICA) and insulin autoantibodies (IAA) were tested in fasting blood both on the day following the routine OGTT and before delivery.

Background: Due to their biocompatibility and bioactivity, dicalcium silicate (C2S) and hydroxyapatite (HA) are used as coating materials for prosthetic orthopedic and dental implants or as bone substitute materials to fill bone defects. However, prostheses and bone substitutes can release particles that trigger an immune response in the recipient. The immunological effects of C2S particles have not yet been studied.

Objective: To investigate the clinical use of cone beam computed tomography in the diagnosis of odontogenic jaw keratocyst and to guide computer-aided surgical treatment planning.

Methods: Imaging, image processing, and visualization technologies were used to produce clear diagnosis, provide proper treatment, and formulate favourable prognosis. Cone beam computed tomography was used to collect medical information including site, extent, shape, and other characteristic features of a patient with large odontogenic jaw keratocyst.

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of mesoporous silica coating surface treatments on push-out bond strength of zirconia posts. Zirconia posts (Cosmopost) were treated with vehicle (control), sandblasting plus silane application (SB+SI), a combination of sandblasting, mesoporous silica coating and silane application (SB+MSC+SI) (n=10/group). Specimens were cemented with RelyX Unicem (3M ESPE, Germany) then horizontally segmented into three sections and subjected to a push-out test.

The effect of zirconia surface treatment by mesoporous zirconia coating on the microtensile bond strength (MTBS) between zirconia and resin cement was investigated in this work. 160 zirconia specimens were prepared and divided into four groups according to surface treatments: (1) airborne-particle-abrasion treatment (APA); (2) glass infiltration and hydrofluoric acid treatment (GI+HF); (3) mesoporous zirconia coating (MZ); and (4) no treatment (C). The as-prepared zirconia specimens were bonded using Panavia F2.
