Background: The umbilical cord is becoming a notable alternative to bone marrow (BM) as a source of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC). Although age-dependent variations in BM-MSC are well described, less data are available for MSC isolated from Wharton's jelly (WJ-MSC). We initiated a study to identify whether obstetric factors influenced MSC properties.

Background: In 2006, the HPV (Human papillomavirus) 6/11/16/18 quadrivalent vaccine was approved by the European Medicines Agency and obtained its marketing authorization in both girls and boys. Currently, the French guidelines recommend and refund vaccination of girls aged 11 to 14 with a catch-up program for females from 15 to 19 years old.
Discussion: In France, HPV vaccination coverage tends to decrease.

Importance: Although immature neonate survival has improved, there is an increased risk of developing bronchopulmonary dysplasia, leading to significant respiratory morbidity. Measures to reduce bronchopulmonary dysplasia are not always effective or have important adverse effects.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of late surfactant administration in infants with prolonged respiratory distress on ventilation duration, respiratory outcome at 36 weeks' postmenstrual age, and at 1 year postnatal age.

Objective: To evaluate the quality of sexual activity after a transobturator tape procedure for urinary incontinence and to examine the global satisfaction reported by patients.
Materials And Methods: This is a bicentric retrospective study, postoperative questionnaires were sent to 247 women operated for urinary incontinence by TOT/TVT-O surgery, after 1 year, prolaps were excluded. Patients' overall improvement was assessed using the French version of Patient Global Impression and Improvement (PGI-I), urinary symptoms were assessed with the use of ICIQ-Fluts and quality of sexual function using Lemack and Zimmern questionnaire and ICIQ-Fluts-Sex.

Objectives: Define the phases composing the learning curve of total hysterectomy (TH) and radical hysterectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy (RHPL) robot-assisted performed by a single surgeon with no prior experience in laparoscopic surgery.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 72 procedures (TH, n=34 and RHPL, n=38) conducted between 2002 and 2011. The surgeon console time (CT) was used to determine the learning curve of TH and RHPL using CUSUM analysis.

Previously, we evaluated the effects of lactational exposure to a representative mixture of the six indicator non-dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (∑6 NDL-PCBs) at low levels on the neurobiological changes and developmental/behavioral performances in mice. In this study, we analyzed the global gene expression profile in cerebellar neurons isolated from male mice presenting the most significant induction of anxiety-like behavior in our previous study (10 ng/kg ∑6 NDL-PCBs). Our results revealed changes in the expression of 16658 genes in the neurons of the exposed mice.

Objectives: A retrospective monocentric clinical trial was performed to evaluate the efficacy of the association of mifepristone and misoprostol for the management of early pregnancy failure.
Patients And Methods: Ninety-two women with early pregnancy failure or anembryonic pregnancy were first treated with 600 mg of mifepristone and 48 hours later with 400 μg of misoprostol by oral administration. Successful treatment, defined as an empty uterus, was searched at day 3, with the association of misoprostol-mifepristone alone or with complementary medical treatment, prostaglandins or ocytocine.

Background: Homozygous mutations in WWOX were reported in eight individuals of two families with autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia type 12 and in two siblings with infantile epileptic encephalopathy (IEE), including one who deceased prior to DNA sampling.
Methods: By combining array comparative genomic hybridisation, targeted Sanger sequencing and next generation sequencing, we identified five further patients from four families with IEE due to biallelic alterations of WWOX.
Results: We identified eight deleterious WWOX alleles consisting in four deletions, a four base-pair frameshifting deletion, one missense and two nonsense mutations.

In light of changes in both medical practices and the organization of medical care, the French National Authority for Health (Haute Autorité de santé, HAS) proposed new recommendations on the discharge of mothers and newborns, updating its 2004 recommendations on early discharge of mothers and newborns. This decision in turn made it necessary to define optimal discharge conditions and accompanying measures for mothers and infants returning home. The problem was approached by adopting the usual HAS methodology for drafting good practice recommendations.
