Objectives: The effects of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) supplementation on cardiovascular-related factors have been evaluated in a number of randomized clinical trials, with different results. Thus, in this meta-analysis, the effects of ALA on blood levels of inflammatory, lipid, and hematological markers as well as anthropometric indices in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) were evaluated.
Methods: Five electronic databases were used to conduct a comprehensive search through October 2023.

Background: Various factors affect the survival rate of Gastric cancer (GC) patients after gastrectomy. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the number of negative lymph nodes (NLNs) removed on GC patients' survival and recurrence rate after gastrectomy.
Methods: In this retrospective, multicenter cohort study, we reviewed the medical profile of 639 patients with a definite diagnosis of GC who underwent gastrectomy from 2010 to 2022 in one of the medical centers affiliated with the Iran University of Medical Sciences.

Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the visceral localization of the three most commonly used choline-based radiotracers (C-choline, F-methylcholine, and F-ethylcholine) with the aim of analyzing uptake in metabolically and anatomically disease-free patients.
Materials And Methods: A total of 1250 standardized uptake values (SUVmax, SUVmean) were analyzed in 45 anatomical regions in 45 patients (15 patients with C-choline, 15 with F-methylcholine, and 15 with F-ethylcholine). These patients were selected from a cohort of 3721 choline PET/computed tomography studies performed at three teaching hospitals over a period of 10 years.

Purpose: To compare the effectiveness of pencil push-up therapy (PPT) versus office-based vision therapy in patients with convergence insufficiency.
Materials And Methods: In this study, 60 students from Zahedan University of Medical Sciences with convergence insufficiency were selected. After determining their refractive error (with a retinoscope), near point of convergence (by millimeter ruler), near heterophoria (by alternate prism cover test), and positive fusional vergence at near (by prism bar), subjects were divided into two groups to receive PPT (at least three times a day for 5 minutes each time) or office-based therapy (two times each week for 60 minutes each visit) without home reinforcement.

Background: The aim of this study was to examine the association between the responses of headache to IV morphine and the findings of brain CT scan in minor head injury (MHI), and to propose a new risk indicator to identify patients requiring CT scanning.
Methods: A total of 1857 MHI patients ≥15 years of age, presenting with headache and a GCS score of 14 or 15 were included in the study. Intravenous morphine sulfate was administered, and thereafter, patients were assessed for the relief or persistence of headache.
