Purpose: Essential tremor (ET) is a prevalent movement disorder, yet current therapeutic options remain limited. Emerging evidence implicates leucine-rich repeat and immunoglobulin-like domain-containing protein (Lingo-1) and neuroinflammation in the pathophysiology of ET. This study aimed to investigate whether agmatine, a biogenic amine neuromodulator attenuates tremors and modulates the expression of Lingo-1 and proinflammatory markers in a rodent model of ET.

Objective: Different Acanthamoeba species are among the most ubiquitous organisms causing serious diseases in humans including central nervous system (CNS) and eye infections. Contact lenses, lens care solutions and the hospital environments particularly the indoor and outdoor environments of ophthalmology wards where people are present with different types of eye diseases, are the potential sources of human infection. The purpose of the present study was the molecular investigation of free-living amoebae in the used contact lenses, lens care solutions and hospital samples from the ophthalmology wards and operating rooms in a referral hospital in southeastern Iran.

Objective: People living with HIV (PLHIV) often face increased vulnerability due to factors like social isolation and reduced resilience. These factors can negatively impact health outcomes, quality of life, and well-being for both PLHIV and their families. Therefore, healthcare providers should carefully assess these variables when providing care for PLHIV.

Background And Aim: Academic burnout in students manifests as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a sense of stagnation in their education. Given the high prevalence of occupational burnout among dental students, screening dental students for early signs of burnout can facilitate intervention and prevent negative effects on their physical and mental well-being.
Methods And Materials: This cross-sectional study included 180 clinical dentistry students in their third year and above at Kerman Dental Faculty during the academic year 2022-2023.

Background: Ensuring consistent adherence to antiretroviral therapy (ART) is crucial for effective HIV treatment and achieving viral suppression. Within prisons, the prevalence of HIV is notably high, and incarcerated individuals face an increased risk of transmitting the virus both during and after incarceration. However, facilitators and barriers to ART adherence among these individuals in low- and middle-income countries remain inadequately explored.

Purpose: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a condition of high prevalence worldwide associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The predictive value of novel indices of combined anthropometric and serum lipid parameters as predictors of MetS is, to our knowledge, unexplored. We aimed to assess the 10-year predictive value of three indices of triglyceride-glucose index (TyG), visceral adiposity index (VAI), and lipid accumulation product (LAP) for incidence of MetS in Southeastern Iran.

Lung Ischemia-reperfusion injury (LIRI) is a risk during lung transplantation that can cause acute lung injury and organ failure. In LIRI, the NF-E2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/ Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) signaling pathway and the nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) signaling pathway are two major pathways involved in regulating oxidative stress and inflammation, respectively. Myrtenol, a natural compound with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, has potential protective effects against IRI.

Introduction: Ischemia followed by reperfusion in organ transplantations can lead to ischemia-reperfusion (I-R) injury, which is associated with oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. Alpha-pinene is an organic terpene with well-known antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties. This study examines the preventive effects of alpha-pinene against renal I-R-induced kidney dysfunction, oxidative and inflammatory status, apoptosis, and histopathology changes.

During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, low dose radiation therapy (LDRT) was proposed as a potentially effective treatment method. To minimize potential toxicity, the initial treatment approach involved a few mGy of adapting radiation followed by a single 250 mGy whole lung challenging dose. However, antiviral drugs were also introduced as a promising treatment option, which were thought to have the potential to revolutionize the management of the crisis.
