The widespread resistance of enterococci to many commonly used antimicrobial agents is a growing concern. Given that the current treatment options for enterococcal infections are limited, the discovery of new therapies, including combination therapies, is necessary. We evaluated double-drug combinations of lefamulin with doxycycline, rifampin, and quinupristin/dalfopristin for in vitro synergy against strains of () and () by using checkerboard and time-kill assays.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by alpha-synuclein aggregation into Lewy bodies in the neurons. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is considered the most suited source for investigating PD pathogenesis and identifying biomarkers. While microRNA (miRNA) profiling can aid in the investigation of post-transcriptional regulation in neurodegenerative diseases, information on miRNAs in the CSF of patients with PD remains limited.

Background: Low-energy far-infrared rays (FIRs) are widely used in the treatment of wounds, lymphedema, and various vascular diseases, and various types of products that emit infrared rays are being used at home for patients with blood flow-related diseases without experimental evidence.
Methods: Blood flow and epidermal temperature were measured while applying conductive heat and FIRs via an electric mat (non-intervention) or a loess bio-ball mat (intervention).
Results: In the control group ( = 30), there was a minimal change in blood flow and epidermal temperature in the right and left middle fingers (LMF, RMF) as the mat temperature gradually increased.

Golgi abnormalities have been linked to aging and age-related diseases, yet the underlying causes and functional consequences remain poorly understood. This study identifies the interaction between age-associated zinc deficiency and Golgi stress as a critical factor in cellular aging. Senescent Golgi bodies from human fibroblasts show a fragmented Golgi structure, associated with a decreased interaction of the zinc-dependent Golgi-stacking protein complex Golgin45-GRASP55.

Background: The accuracy of Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) mappings is reportedly low, and the LOINC codes used for research purposes in Korea have not been validated for accuracy or usability. Our study aimed to evaluate the discrepancies and similarities in interoperability using existing LOINC mappings in actual patient care settings.
Methods: We collected data on local test codes and their corresponding LOINC mappings from seven university hospitals.

Idiopathic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (iNSIP) is recognized as a distinct entity among various types of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIP). It is identified histologically by the nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) pattern. A diagnosis of iNSIP is feasible once secondary causes or underlying diseases are ruled out.

Introduction: The provision of treatment for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients has increased in Korea. However, multicenter studies on the clinicopathologic dataset and treatment outcomes, using a large-scale dataset, have not been conducted. The current study is a prospective and retrospective multicenter observational cohort study that registers all stages of EGFR-mutated NSCLC patients.

Rectal cancer is one of the most common carcinomas and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Although significant advancements have been made in the treatment of rectal cancer, the deterioration of quality of life (QoL) remains a challenging issue. Various tools have been developed to assess QoL, including the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Colorectal (FACT-C) scale, the QLQ-C30 and QLQ-CR29 by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36).
