Background: With their broad presentations and no global biomarker to discriminate crises and attack-free periods, Systemic Auto-Inflammatory Diseases (SAID) are difficult to manage. This study assessed Serum Amyloid A (SAA), C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum calprotectin as potential biomarkers to monitor patients with SAID.
Method: SAA (already studied in Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF)), CRP and serum calprotectin were measured on SAID adult patients from Juvenile Inflammatory Rheumatism (JIR) cohort during their follow-up visits between 2020 and 2022.

Background: Post-cardiac arrest (CA) shock is associated with multiple organ failure, including acute kidney injury, and is the leading cause of early death among patient successfully resuscitated from CA. Arginine-vasopressin (AVP) may be an interesting therapeutic alternative or complement to noradrenaline (NAD) to both control shock and preserve regional, especially renal, organ perfusions.
Methods: 18 swine (24-39 kg) were submitted to 14 min of ventricular fibrillation and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Defining homogeneous subgroups of bipolar disorder (BD) is a major goal in personalized psychiatry and research. According to the neurodevelopmental theory, age at onset may be a key variable. As potential trait markers of neurodevelopment, cognitive and functional impairment should be greater in the early form of the disease, particularly type 1 BD (BD I).

Objectives: Persistent functional impairment is common in bipolar disorder (BD) and is influenced by a number of demographic, clinical, and cognitive features. The goal of this project was to estimate and compare the influence of key factors on community function in multiple cohorts of well-characterized samples of individuals with BD.
Methods: Thirteen cohorts from 7 countries included = 5882 individuals with BD across multiple sites.

Once-daily extended-release tacrolimus (LCPT) exhibits increased bioavailability versus immediate-release (IR-TAC) and prolonged release (PR-TAC) tacrolimus. Improvements in tremor were previously reported in a limited number of kidney transplant patients who switched to LCPT. We conducted a non-interventional, non-randomized, uncontrolled, longitudinal, prospective, multicenter study to assess the impact of switching to LCPT on tremor and quality of life (QoL) in a larger population of stable kidney transplant patients.

Objective: Underdosing of antibiotics is common in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD). We hypothesized that in critically-ill patients with SCD receiving cefotaxime during acute chest syndrome, the continuous infusion may outperform the intermittent administration in achieving pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic targets.
Design: Prospective before-after study.

Introduction: Physical restraint (PR) is prescribed in patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU) to avoid unplanned removal of medical devices. However, it is associated with an increased risk of delirium. We hypothesise that a restrictive use of PR, as compared with a systematic use, could reduce the duration of delirium in ICU patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation.

The placement of peripheral venous catheters (PVC) is a frequent procedure in the emergency department (ED), which exposes patients to complications (hematoma, fluid leakage, phlebitis, edema, infection), increases hemolysis of blood samples, is time-consuming and costly. The main aim of this study is to analyze the rate of PVC nonuse in the ED and to identify predictive factors of their nonuse. This prospective single-center observational study was conducted in the ED of the Saint-Antoine Hospital in Paris, France between February and March 2022.

We currently have a large sum of clinical and experimental data documenting the involvement of numerous adipokines in the maintenance of energy homeostasis in healthy individuals and their dysregulation in diseases such as obesity, metabolic syndrome or type 2 diabetes. Despite the impressive discoveries made in this field over many years, much remains to be done before understanding all the physiological and pathological implications, and hoping for the development of other effective and safe therapeutic strategies. Two original adipokines will be taken as examples to illustrate these remarks, chemerin and neuregulin 4.

Background: Left atrial strain (LAS) is a measure of atrial wall deformation during cardiac cycle and reflects atrial contribution to cardiovascular performance. Pathophysiological significance of LAS in critically ill patients with hemodynamic instability has never been explored. This study aimed at describing LAS and its variation during volume expansion and to assess the relationship between LAS components and fluid responsiveness.

Background: Due to aging population and increasing part of immunocompromised patients, a raise in life-threatening organ damage related to VZV can be expected. Two retrospective studies were already conducted on VZV in ICU but focused on specific organ injury. Patients with high-risk of VZV disease still must be identified.

There is growing evidence that autoantibodies (AAbs) against proteins expressed in the brain are playing an important role in neurological and psychiatric disorders. Here, we explore the presence and the role of peripheral AAbs to the α7-nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) in inflammatory subgroups of psychiatric patients with bipolar disorder (BD) or schizophrenia (SCZ) and healthy controls. We have identified a continuum of AAb levels in serum when employing a novel ELISA technique, with a significant elevation in patients compared to controls.

We report nationwide real-life practice in the management of prostate cancer (PC) in France in a population of 4936750 men. All prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood tests performed between 2006 and 2018 were recorded in a National Health registry, which allowed to identify 692516 men diagnosed with PC and a control population consisting of 3899509 men without PC. PSA tests, age at diagnosis, treatments, and survival were analysed.
