We report a case of compressive optic neuropathy caused by fibrous dysplasia in a 28-year-old woman. The patient had no significant medical history. Her best-corrected visual acuity was 20/20 in the right eye and 20/400 in the left eye.

Nephroblastomatosis is a rare disease, considered to be a precursor of Wilms tumour. When it is isolated, recommended treatment consists of chemotherapy followed by surveillance. In the presence of associated Wilms tumour, treatment consists of preoperative chemotherapy followed by partial nephrectomy (when possible), followed by postoperative chemotherapy and surveillance.

Mortality due to lung cancer was 25% (7/28) in this study of patients with diffuse interstitial pulmonary fibrosis. Opacities on the chest x-ray suggestive of lung cancer were observed in 5 of the 7 cases. All 7 had squamous cell carcinoma.

We report a case of plexiform neurofibroma of the upper eyelid associated with spheno-orbital dysplasia in a 18-year-old woman with von Recklinghausen neurofibromatosis. Visual acuity was 20/40 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left. Plexiform neurofibroma involving the right upper eyelid was associated with mild ptosis and ipsilateral facial hypertrophy.

Background: Primary psoas abscess is very rare in childhood; its diagnosis and treatment can be improved by the use of recent imaging techniques.
Patients: Six children, aged 11 months to 10 years (mean: 51 months) were admitted from January 1987 to 15 December 1993 because they suffered mainly from fever, lumbar pain and/or homolateral flexed hip. Examination showed a painful inguinal mass in five patients and hyperleucocytosis in all.

The authors report a case of congenital arteriovenous communication of the retinal near the macula, associated with a central retinal vein occlusion. This occlusion only affected the inferior half-retina, especially the area surrounding the arteriovenous anastomoses. Laser photocoagulation was applied to areas of peripheral ischemia.

The authors studied 33 maculopathies in 54 patients affected by typic retinitis pigmentosa: atrophic macular degeneration 31 cases (49%); cystoïd macular oedema: 1 case (3%) and macular retraction syndrome: 1 case (3%).
