Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura in a new onset lupus patient?

We are presenting a case of TTP with undetectable levels of ADAMTS 13 in a 39-year-old woman. Diagnosis of systemic lupus was evoked in the setting of thrombotic microangiopathy. The patient presented normal renal function but important neurological impairment.

Cosavirus, Salivirus and Bufavirus in Diarrheal Tunisian Infants.

Three newly discovered viruses have been recently described in diarrheal patients: Cosavirus (CosV) and Salivirus (SalV), two picornaviruses, and Bufavirus (BuV), a parvovirus. The detection rate and the role of these viruses remain to be established in acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in diarrheal Tunisian infants. From October 2010 through March 2012, stool samples were collected from 203 children <5 years-old suffering from AGE and attending the Children's Hospital in Monastir, Tunisia.

[Late-onset pituitary stalk interruption syndrome (PSIS)].

Pituitary stalk interruption syndrome is a fairly common cause of the deficiency of Growth Hormone and hypopituitarism often revealed in the neonatal period and childhood. This observation illustrates the peculiarities of a late clinical onset of this syndrome. We report a case of a 17-year-old patient hospitalized for primary amenorrhoea and impuberism.

[Arrhythomgenic right ventricular dysplasia and sudden death: An autopsy and histological study].

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) is cardiomyopathy where normal myocardial tissue is replaced with fibrofatty tissue. Histological examination performed on myocardial biopsy or on autopsy samples are used to confirm the diagnosis. However, in many cases, the diagnosis cannot be made on a simple macroscopic and histological study and requires genetic analysis and molecular biology.

Müller cell activation and photoreceptor depletion in a mice model of congenital ocular toxoplasmosis.

Müller glial cells are critically involved in retinal inflammatory processes. Here, we investigate the activation of Müller cells in a model of congenital ocular toxoplasmosis (OT). Four weeks after infection, retinal sections were studied immunohistochemically using the markers glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and vimentin.

[Plasma cholinesterase activity in hepatic diseases].

Plasma cholinesterase activity (ChE) may vary in some pathological circumstances. We studied the changes in activity of this enzyme according to the type of liver injury, to assess the interest of this parameter in the diagnosis of liver diseases. Our study was performed on 102 patients with different liver diseases and 53 healthy controls.

[Cardiac troponin I and the post-mortem diagnosis of myocardial damage].

Material And Methods: Our study is prospective, interesting 72 corps autopsied at the Department of Forensic Medicine of the University Hospital Fattouma Bourguiba of Monastir-Tunisia. Were excluded from the study, resuscitated cases and those examined more than 48h after death.

[Epidural emphysema complicating bronchial asthma].

Epidural emphysema is an exceptional complication of bronchial asthma, revealed by an incidental finding in chest tomography. We report a case of a 21-year-old man admitted with asthma attack complicated by subcutaneous and mediastinal emphysema. Chest tomography confirmed the mediastinal emphysema and also revealed the epidural emphysema within the vertebral canal.

Rhino-orbito-cerebral mucormycosis: five cases.

Introduction And Objective: Mucormycosis is an invasive fungal infection usually observed in immunocompromised patients. Mucormycosis is rapidly fatal without an early diagnosis and treatment. We report five patients of rhino-orbital-cerebral mucormycosis and a literature review.
