Deep Learning on Bone Scintigraphy to Detect Abnormal Cardiac Uptake at Risk of Cardiac Amyloidosis.

JACC Cardiovasc Imaging

August 2023

Department of Cardiology, French Referral Center for Cardiac Amyloidosis, Henri Mondor University Hospital, Assistance-Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP), Créteil, France; InsermUnit U955, Clinical Epidemiology and Ageing, Paris-Est Créteil University, Val-de-Marne, Créteil, France. Electronic address: https://twitter.com/ThibaudDamy.

Background: Cardiac uptake on technetium-99m whole-body scintigraphy (WBS) is almost pathognomonic of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis. The rare false positives are often related to light-chain cardiac amyloidosis. However, this scintigraphic feature remains largely unknown, leading to misdiagnosis despite characteristic images.

Aortic dissection is a rare but serious condition Its association with pulmonary embolism is exceptional and produces a real therapeutic dilemma. We are discussing the case of a 67-year-old male patient who presented with paraplegia with infectious syndrome. The chest X-ray performed to screen for an infectious site led to the suspicion of an aortic aneurysm and the CT angiography showed Stanford type B aortic dissection associated with bilateral proximal pulmonary embolism.

Multicenter study of 37 pediatric patients with SCIWORA or other spinal cord injury without associated bone lesion.

The present study reports a multicenter series of under-18-year-olds admitted for traumatic medullary lesion. The objectives were: (1) to describe the causes of pure spinal cord injuries in children in France and their clinical presentation; (2) to identify any prognostic factors; and (3) to describe their medical management in France.

Purpose: To show that heart rate variability (HRV) in the standing position better reflects the way in which athletes adapt to training in so-called intermittent sports than the indicator of resting parasympathetic tone usually employed in endurance sports.

Methods: Twenty professional soccer players (intermittent sport) took part in a 5-week training session divided into three successive periods: "Warm-up", "Intensive training" and "Tapering". At the beginning and end of each of the three periods, a stand test was carried out and the heart rate was recorded, beat by beat (Polar Team 2).

Using fluorescence in situ hybridization, we determined the ploidy of four species of Leishmania: Leishmania infantum, Leishmania donovani, Leishmania tropica and Leishmania amazonensis. We found that each cell in a strain possesses a combination of mono-, di- and trisomies for all chromosomes; ploidy patterns were different among all strains/species. These results extend those we previously described in Leishmania major, demonstrating that mosaic aneuploidy is a genetic feature widespread to the Leishmania genus.
