The psychologist working in an institution plays a specific role within a multidisciplinary team, where skills are multiple but complementary. As part of a holistic approach, the psychologist's position in relation to other team members, the different functions he or she occupies and his or her ethical responsibility are essential elements in the support provided. Whether supporting professionals or caring for patients, the psychologist brings unique resources to the relational space.

Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) is the gold standard to investigate the epileptic network in cases of drug-resistant epilepsy. Robot-assisted SEEG is increasingly being used; however, its installation process in the operating room is more difficult than that of the stereotactic frame procedure. New robotic tools and 3D intraoperative imaging ease the setup while achieving the same mechanical precision and a lower complication rate.

[Medical electroradiology technicians: mediators in hospital care].

Soins

December 2023

Service de radiologie, Hôpital Saint-Antoine, 184 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, 75012 Paris, France.

Beyond simply carrying out the medical imaging procedure, radiology technicians have an ambivalent position in radiology departments: working both with the patient and with the doctor, they act as a link between these two entities which rarely, if ever, meet. This socioprofessional category is a keystone to medical imaging services, yet it receives little recognition and its crucial role is often overlooked. The exact delimitation of its functions within the hospital is often misunderstood.

In the light of sociological, anthropological and philosophical developments on gender issues, there is no longer any legitimate theory in Western society that can account for the process of identity development, the links between the biological realities and limits of the sexed body and the experience of gender. It's necessary to listen to everything that's said, not only by the young person but also by his or her parents, and even by the wider family, without any preconceived notions, judgments or normative criteria, but also to avoid the temptation to say "why" in favor of offering help. For some children and teenagers, it's possible to offer a transitional pathway.

Posterior fossa atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (ATRT) is a rare childhood tumor usually associated with a dismal prognosis. Although upfront surgical gross total resection (GTR) has classically been the first line of treatment, new multimodal treatments, including two-stage surgery, are showing promising results in terms of overall survival (OS) and complication rate. We present a case of a 9-month-old child treated with two-staged surgery and chemotherapy.

Clinique des maladies mentales et de l'encéphale, Groupe hospitalier universitaire Paris psychiatrie et neurosciences, 1 rue Cabanis, 75014 Paris, France. Electronic address:

The caregiver-patient relationship has progressively evolved to focus on the development of the patient's autonomy. The mobilization of the patient's resources is fundamental to their participation in the co-construction of the care protocol. Identifying these resources is an essential component of caregiving know-how.

The professional identity and know-how of the caregiver are acquired throughout his or her career and professional development. The support of patients unfolds by moving from an action to a singular, adapted, personalized and relational care. This experience is particularly present in psychiatric care, when the poïesis relies on acquired and obligatory praxis and must sometimes find the kairos.

FLAIR Vascular Hyperintensities as a Surrogate of Collaterals in Acute Stroke: DWI Matters.

AJNR Am J Neuroradiol

January 2023

From the Institute of Psychiatry and Neuroscience of Paris (L.L., A.L.B., J.B., W.B.H., C.P., O.N., J.-C.B., G.T., C. Oppenheim), Université Paris Cité, Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale U1266, Federation Hospitalo-Universitaire NeuroVasc, Paris, France.

Background And Purpose: FLAIR vascular hyperintensities are thought to represent leptomeningeal collaterals in acute ischemic stroke. However, whether all-FLAIR vascular hyperintensities or FLAIR vascular hyperintensities-DWI mismatch, ie, FLAIR vascular hyperintensities beyond the DWI lesion, best reflects collaterals remains debated. We aimed to compare the value of FLAIR vascular hyperintensities-DWI mismatch versus all-FLAIR vascular hyperintensities for collateral assessment using PWI-derived collateral flow maps as a reference.

ER membrane contact sites support endosomal small GTPase conversion for exosome secretion.

J Cell Biol

Institute for Psychiatry and Neurosciences of Paris, Hopital Saint-Anne, Université de Paris, Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale, U1266, Paris, France.

Exosomes are endosome-derived extracellular vesicles involved in intercellular communication. They are generated as intraluminal vesicles within endosomal compartments that fuse with the plasma membrane (PM). The molecular events that generate secretory endosomes and lead to the release of exosomes are not well understood.

Therapeutic touch body care in the management of eating disorders, particularly anorexia nervosa, aims to deepen the relationship of trust and the therapeutic alliance. Nursing research and the development of clinical nursing care, with nursing diagnoses as a support, have made it possible to provide new responses adapted to the patient's needs. This reassuring helping relationship favors the work around the patient's psychic and physical perceptions.

Touching someone is a multisensory encounter with the other, it is listening, hearing, seeing, smelling, feeling, perceiving, etc. This contact allows for the interpersonal circulation of a host of information in a close relationship. The caregiver touches the patient's body with his or her eyes before beginning to grasp it with his or her hands.

Importance: Breast cancer (BC) diagnosis and treatment expose patients to a 5-fold higher risk of depression compared with the general population, with an estimated prevalence of 10% to 25%. A depressive episode in patients with BC has implications for the tolerance of and adherence to treatment, impairing quality of life and reducing life expectancy.

Objective: To identify and characterize distinct longitudinal patterns of depressive symptoms in patients with BC from diagnosis to 3 years after treatment.

Intravenous immunoglobulins in patients with COVID-19-associated moderate-to-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ICAR): multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial.

Lancet Respir Med

February 2022

Service d'Anesthésie-Réanimation, Groupe Hospitalier Université Paris Psychiatrie et Neurosciences, Pôle Neuro, Paris, France; Department of Neurosiences, Université de Paris, Paris, France; INSERM UMR S894, Sorbonne Université, Paris, France.

Background: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a major complication of COVID-19 and is associated with high mortality and morbidity. We aimed to assess whether intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIG) could improve outcomes by reducing inflammation-mediated lung injury.

Methods: In this multicentre, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, done at 43 centres in France, we randomly assigned patients (1:1) receiving invasive mechanical ventilation for up to 72 h with PCR confirmed COVID-19 and associated moderate-to-severe ARDS to receive either IVIG (2 g/kg over 4 days) or placebo.
