Objectives: An important clindamycin-rifampicin pharmacokinetic (PK) interaction has been reported, but the potential influence of the clindamycin administration route on that interaction is unknown. This prospective, observational, comparative PK study was undertaken to characterize and analyse the impact of the route, comparing the rifampicin enzyme-inductor effects on clindamycin clearance (CLclin) for oral versus intravenous (IV) administration.
Methods: Patients with bone-and-joint infections (BJIs) were treated with clindamycin monotherapy (n = 20) or clindamycin-rifampicin combination therapy (n = 19).

Background: In the phase 3 SOLO1 trial, maintenance olaparib provided a significant progression-free survival benefit versus placebo in patients with newly diagnosed, advanced ovarian cancer and a BRCA mutation in response after platinum-based chemotherapy. We analysed health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and patient-centred outcomes in SOLO1, and the effect of radiological disease progression on health status.
Methods: SOLO1 is a randomised, double-blind, international trial done in 118 centres and 15 countries.

To determine if the time-to-chemotherapy (TTC) after primary macroscopic complete cytoreductive surgery (CRS) influences recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). We conducted an observational multicenter retrospective cohort analysis of women with EOC treated from September 2006 to November 2016 in nine institutions in France (FRANCOGYN research group) with maintained EOC databases. We included women with EOC (all FIGO stages) who underwent primary complete macroscopic CRS prior to platinum-based adjuvant chemotherapy.

Background: Use of Doppler ultrasonography (DUS) for patients with suspected testicular torsion (TT) is highly controversial and remains debated, as it can delay surgery and its performance may vary.
Objective: To assess the role, impact, safety, and performance of DUS in the management of patients with suspected TT before scrotal exploration.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The TORSAFUF cohort retrospectively included patients older than 12 yr who underwent surgery for suspected TT in 14 academic hospitals between 2005 and 2019.

Background: Bevacizumab is approved in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of ovarian cancer, either in first-line therapy or for patients with recurrent disease not previously treated with the same drug. We aimed to test the value of continuing bevacizumab beyond progression after first-line treatment with the same drug.
Methods: In our open-label, randomised, phase 3 trial done at 82 sites in four countries, we enrolled women (aged ≥18 years) who had previously received first-line platinum-based therapy including bevacizumab, and had recurrent (≥6 months since last platinum dose), International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics stage IIIB-IV ovarian cancer with an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 0-2.

Objectives: In France, a network of reference centers for bone and joint infections (BJI) was created in 2008, focused on the management of complex BJI (previous failure, difficult-to-treat microorganisms, heavy comorbidities or surgical procedures). A national registry was implemented from 2012, collecting decisions advised in periodic multidisciplinary meetings. We present here an epidemiological overview.

Background: Platinum based chemotherapy is the treatment of choice for ovarian cancer patients with a platinum treatment free interval of >6 months. Niraparib is an oral poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor approved as maintenance therapy after a response to platinum rechallenge, regardless of BRCA status. Atezolizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1).

The standard of care for patients with advanced cervical cancer (ACC) includes platinum-based chemotherapy. The concept of platinum sensitivity is a major prognostic factor for patients with ovarian cancer. The aim of this study was to validate the applicability of the platinum sensitivity concept to ACC patients, and to estimate its prognostic interest in terms of overall survival (OS) and pattern of recurrence (location, timing).

Objectives: To evaluate the performances of systematic posttreatment pelvic magnetic resonance imaging (PPMRI) in predicting prognosis of patients treated with chemoradiation therapy (CRT) for locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC).
Materials And Methods: Multi-institutional data from 216 patients presenting FIGO IB2-IIB cervical cancer for which PPMRI was performed following CRT were retrospectively reviewed. Incomplete response was defined as the identification of persistent lesion on PPMRI.

Background And Objective: according to the latest ESMO-ESGO recommendations, laparotomy is the standard surgical approach to treat and stage patients with presumed early stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). A few studies have investigated the efficacy and the safety of laparoscopy for the staging of early stage EOC, and this question is still in the center of debates. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) benefits of the minimally invasive surgery (MIS) have still to be specified.

Aims: The French registry for complex bone and joint infections (C-BJIs) was created in 2012 in order to facilitate a homogeneous management of patients presented for multidisciplinary advice in referral centres for C-BJI, to monitor their activity and to produce epidemiological data. We aimed here to present the genesis and characteristics of this national registry and provide the analysis of its data quality.
Methods: A centralized online secured database gathering the electronic case report forms (eCRFs) was filled for every patient presented in multidisciplinary meetings (MM) among the 24 French referral centres.

Fabry disease. Fabry disease is an X-linked disorder in which lysosomal alpha-galactosidase A is lacking, leading to enzyme-substrate accumulation and tissues dysfunction. Acroparesthesia, angiokeratoma, familial nephropathy or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy should suggest Fabry disease.

Objective: To determine the efficacy of weekly paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab as treatment for relapsed sex cord-stromal tumors and evaluate whether the addition of bevacizumab to weekly paclitaxel improves 6-month progression-free rate.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This open-label, academic, international, randomized phase 2 trial (ALIENOR) was conducted at 28 referral centers in France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Belgium in collaboration with the Rare Tumor committee of the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup and used an adaptive bayesian design.

Context: Relatives of patients receiving palliative care are at risk for psychological and physical distress, and their perception of quality of care can influence patients' quality of life.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the QUALI-PALLI-FAM questionnaire (QUAlity of PALLIative car from FAMilies' perspective) to measure families' perception of and satisfaction with palliative care.
Methods: An exploratory factor analysis was conducted, and we evaluated the questionnaire's internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha, its stability across various strata, and the correlation between the QUALI-PALLI-FAM (factors, total score, and global satisfaction) and the total score of the FAMCARE (FAMily satisfaction with CARE) questionnaire.

Background: Preoperative synovial fluid culture is pivotal in the early diagnosis of prosthetic joint infection (PJI) but may yield false-positive and false-negative results. We evaluated the predictive value of synovial fluid culture results combined with the measurement of serum anti-staphylococcal antibodies (SASA).
Questions/purposes: (1) For hip and knee PJI, does combining positive SASA results with preoperative synovial culture results improve the positive predictive value (PPV) of preoperative synovial fluid culture alone? (2) Does combining preoperative synovial fluid culture results with a positive cell count and differential result increase the PPV of preoperative synovial fluid culture alone? (3) What proportion of isolated organisms exhibit concordance in antibiotic susceptibility: preoperative aspiration versus intraoperative isolates?
Methods: A prospective study was conducted at two French reference centers that manage bone and joint infections and included 481 adult patients who had a revision or resection arthroplasty between June 25, 2012 and June 23, 2014.
