Background: Gynecologic cancer is a significant public health concern worldwide, with three of the top ten most common cancers affecting women. The increasing incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and the disproportionately poor outcomes in cancer patients necessitates urgent intervention. This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting the survivability of cancer patients with DVT, especially among gynecologic and non-gynecologic cancers.

1. Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital - Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia. 2. Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, MRCCC Siloam Hospital Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia..

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive cancer subtype, with limited treatments and a high metastasis risk. The varying location of metastasis in TNBC patients often leads to in prognosis in breast cancer. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the potential association between immune cells profiles in the tumor microenvironment and metastatic patterns.

Background: The varying degrees of hearing recovery in idiopathic sudden sensory neural hearing loss (ISSHL) patients indicate the need of model to predict no hearing recovery. We aimed to aid in the counseling of ISSHL patients about their recovery chances by developing a simple clinical scoring system to predict no hearing recovery using clinical information available at first visit.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study, using medical records was conducted from January 2017-May 2019 in Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital and Proklamasi Ear, Nose, Throat, Head and Neck (ENT-HN) Surgery Specialized Hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Background: Cancer patients have an increased risk of a severe COVID-19 infection with higher mortality rate. This study aimed to analyze the levels of anti-SARS-CoV-2 S-RBD IgG and NAB among cancer patients who were vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccines, either with BNT162b2, mRNA-1273, AZD1222/ChAdOx1nCoV-19, or Coronavac/BBIBP-CorV vaccines.

Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among subjects with either solid or hematological cancers who had received two doses of either mRNA or non-mRNA vaccines within 6 months.

Introduction: ACL reconstruction is needed to restore the stability and biomechanics properties of the injured knee joints in order to reproduce the function of the native ACL. The single-bundle (SB) and double-bundle (DB) techniques are most commonly used to reconstruct the injured ACL. However, its superiority upon each other is still controversial.

Introduction: During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, vitamin D has been established as an immune-modulator that reduces pro-inflammatory damage which effectively diminish the severity of COVID-19. Vitamin D also has a significant effect against influenza and dengue and increase the seroconversion following influenza vaccination. To date, the role of vitamin D in optimizing the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines remains unclear.

Background: Salvage conventional chemotherapy followed by high-dose therapy (HDT) and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is the treatment of choice for most patients with refractory classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). In the era of pandemic COVID-19, there are obstacles to administering salvage chemotherapy followed by HDT and ASCT due to side effects and toxicities which make the patient more susceptible to COVID-19 infection. The toxicities and side effects of BV are different from salvage chemotherapy, but it has clear efficacy as monotherapy.

Introduction: Vaginal mesenchymal cancer is one of the rarest cases, covering only 3% of all cases of vaginal malignancies. While risk factors are not heavily studied, genetic disorders and hereditary diseases have been stated to be responsible for the increasing incidence of vaginal mesenchymal carcinoma. The diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma could be done through anamnesis to find abnormal uterine discharge and pelvic pain and physical examination to find a protruding mass on the vagina, which then should be confirmed through a series of radiologic examinations and histopathological examinations.

  • - This study investigates the patellar dimensions and the Bristol Index of patellar width to thickness (BIPWiT) in the Asian population using MRI, focusing on individuals aged 17-40 without knee pathology.
  • - Findings show that male patellar dimensions (length, width, thickness) are significantly larger than females; however, no differences in cartilage thickness were observed between genders.
  • - The study suggests a BIPWiT ratio of 1.85:1 for optimal patellar thickness restoration in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), indicating there are no significant differences in patellar dimensions between the Asian and Western populations in healthy knees.

Introduction: The achievement of blood transfusion hemoglobin targets in transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia patients is influenced by several factors such as genotype, hypersplenism, blood compatibility, donor blood adequacy, and transfusion interval. Failure to achieve these targets leads to an increase in the size of the spleen. Meanwhile, the post-transfusion hemoglobin of thalassemia patients that is not regularly evaluated has made it difficult to determine donor adequacy.

Introduction: COVID-19 is a pandemic with significant mortality and it is important to differentiate severe and non-severe cases. We conducted a study to evaluate hematologic profiles with inflammation markers in COVID-19 patients and to determine the correlation of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with disease severity.

Methods: A cross-sectional study involving hospitalized COVID-19 patients confirmed with a positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR test in Dr.

  • Iron overload is a significant issue in thalassemia patients, particularly those dependent on blood transfusions, which can exacerbate oxidative stress as measured by malondialdehyde (MDA) levels.* -
  • A study involving 63 adult patients analyzed MDA levels before and after blood transfusions and found no significant change or correlation between MDA and iron overload markers like serum ferritin (SF) or transferrin saturation (TS).* -
  • The results suggest that, despite blood transfusions increasing iron levels in thalassemia patients, there is no corresponding rise in oxidative stress as indicated by MDA levels.*

Background: Iron overload is a major problem in patients with transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia (TDT). Reports on the correlation between iron overload and endocrine function with growth retardation in such a population in Indonesia have not been established. Therefore, this study aims to obtain a profile of iron load and endocrine function of adult transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia patients and their correlation with growth retardation.
