Institute of Biothermal Science and Technology, School of Health Science and Engineering, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai, China.

Allogenic demineralized bone matrix (DBM) is widely used for bone repair and regeneration due to its osteoinductivity and osteoconductivity. The present study utilized acellular dermis microfibers to improve the DBM's clinical handling properties and to enhance bone regeneration. Donated human cadaver skin was de-epidermized and decellularized to be acellular dermal matrix (ADM), which was further processed into microfibers.

Purpose: Functional inorganic nanomaterials (NMs) are widely exploited as bioactive materials and drug depots. The lack of a stable form of application of NMs at the site of skin injury, may impede the removal of the debridement, elevate pH, induce tissue toxicity, and limit their use in skin repair. This necessitates the advent of innovative wound dressings that overcome the above limitations.

Med Rev (2021)

June 2024

Key Laboratory of Carcinogenesis and Translational Research (Ministry of Education/Beijing), Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute, Beijing, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the slow progression and rapid recurrence of esophageal squamous dysplasia (ESD) in some patients, aiming to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms.
  • - Researchers sequenced genomic data from 160 clinical samples and found that ESD has lower mutation and copy number alteration levels compared to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
  • - They identified a new driver gene related to ESD progression and found that miR-4292 could act as a non-invasive diagnostic marker, offering insights for early diagnosis and better identification of high-risk patients.

J Colloid Interface Sci

November 2024

Department of Orthopaedics, Xinqiao Hospital, Army Medical University, No. 183, Xinqiao Street, Shapingba District, Chongqing 400037, China. Electronic address:

Multifunctional bioactive biomaterials with integrated bone and soft tissue regenerability hold great promise for the regeneration of trauma-affected skin and bone defects. The aim of this research was to fabricate aerogel scaffolds (GD-BF) by blending the appropriate proportions of short bioactive glass fiber (BGF), gelatin (Gel), and dopamine (DA). Electrospun polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP)-BGF fibers were converted into short BGF through calcination and homogenization.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) play important roles in epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) and tumor development. Previous studies have demonstrated that IL-6 promotes EMT, invasion, and metastasis in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) cells by activating the STAT3/HIF-1α pathway. MicroRNA (miRNA) is non-coding small RNAs that also play an important role in tumor development.

Bidirectional photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy is an active research area. However, most studies have focused on its dependence on optical parameters rather than on its tissue-dependent effects. We constructed mouse models of wounds in three inflammatory states (normal, low, and high levels of inflammations) to assess the bidirectional regulatory effect of PBM on inflammation.

Allogenic demineralized bone matrix (DBM), processed to expose bioactive proteins imbedded by calcium salts, is widely used for bone repair and regeneration as an alternative to the autologous bone graft. However, demineralized bone matrices from tissue banks vary significantly in residual calcium content and osteogenicity for clinical bone regeneration. The present study produced DBM with various residual calcium contents by partial demineralization using ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium (EDTA) and hydrochloric acid.

Lateralized Functional Connectivity of the Sensorimotor Cortex and its Variations During Complex Visuomotor Tasks.

J Neurosci

January 2024

Beijing Key Laboratory of Applied Experimental Psychology, National Demonstration Center for Experimental Psychology Education (Beijing Normal University), Faculty of Psychology, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China.

Previous studies have shown that the left hemisphere dominates motor function, often observed through homotopic activation measurements. Using a functional connectivity approach, this study investigated the lateralization of the sensorimotor cortex during handwriting and drawing, two complex visuomotor tasks with varying contextual demands. We found that both left- and right-lateralized connectivity in the primary motor cortex (M1), dorsal premotor cortex (PMd), somatosensory cortex, and visual regions were evident in adults (males and females), primarily in an interhemispheric integrative fashion.
