[A rare cause of hypercorticism: ACTH-secreting pheochromocytoma (a case report)].

Ectopic ACTH-secreting pheochromocytoma is a very rare cause of Cushing´s syndrome, posing diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We here report the case of a female patient with suspected severe Cushing´s syndrome associated with melanoderma, arterial hypertension resistant to triple therapy and unbalanced diabetes treated with insulin therapy. Biologically, urinary ethoxylated, 24-hour urinary free cortisol and ACTH were very high.

[The lactate dehydrogenase to lymphocyte ratio in evaluating the prognosis of patients with severe COVID-19].

Inflammatory biological parameters are altered in patients with COVID-19 depending on its severity. The objective of our study is to find a score to assess the prognosis of patients with severe COVID-19. This is a retrospective study of patients with severe COVID-19 hospitalized in the intensive care units of Ibn Sina Hospital in Rabat.

VEIN STEP: A Prospective, Observational, International Study to Assess Effectiveness of Conservative Treatments in Chronic Venous Disease.

Introduction: VEIN STEP was conducted to collect international data on the management of chronic venous disease (CVD) and to assess the effectiveness of conservative treatments for the relief of CVD signs and symptoms.

Methods: This international, observational, prospective, longitudinal, cohort study recruited adult outpatients consulting for symptomatic CVD. The primary objective was the effectiveness of conservative treatments on symptoms, signs and quality of life in a real-life setting assessed using a range of patient-reported outcome measures: 10-cm Visual Analog and Patient Global Impression of Change scales for symptoms; Venous Clinical Severity Score for physician assessment of signs; and 14-item ChronIc Venous Insufficiency Questionnaire (CIVIQ-14) for quality of life.

[Vascular manifestations of Behcet's disease].

Behçet disease is a multi-systemic complex vasculitis with unknown etiology characterized by different clinical involvements, including mucocutaneous, ocular, vascular, articular, neurological and gastrointestinal manifestations. Growing evidence supports that different phenotypes, characterized by clusters of co-existing involvements, can be distinguished. Namely, the vascular phenotype identifies a specific group of patients who suffer from recurrent inflammatory thrombosis and arterial involvement.

[Brachial artery aneurysm in kidney transplant patient after distal fistula closure].

Brachial artery aneurysmal degeneration is an exceptional complication of distal native fistulas. Chronic mechanical stresses due to high flow, as well as immunosuppressants drugs following renal transplantation, are the mains factors implicated in the pathophysiological mechanism. We report a case of a transplant patient with a true, symptomatic, brachial artery aneurysm, 8 years after transplantation and 5 years after radiocephalic wrist fistula ligation.

Report of SARS-CoV-2 BA.1 Lineage in Morocco.

Here, we report the near-complete genome sequence and genetic variations of a clinical sample of SARS-CoV-2 for the newly emerged Omicron variant (BA.1). The sample was collected from a nasopharyngeal swab of a Moroccan patient, and the sequencing was done using Ion S5 technology.

An Exploration of Features Impacting Respiratory Diseases in Urban Areas.

Air pollution exposure has become ubiquitous and is increasingly detrimental to human health. Small Particulate matter (PM) is one of the most harmful forms of air pollution. It can easily infiltrate the lungs and trigger several respiratory diseases, especially in vulnerable populations such as children and elderly people.

The creation and preservation of vascular accesses, in patients with end-stage renal failure, remains a challenge for nephrologists and vascular surgeons. Native fistula is the best vascular access, humeral-basilic fistula is a precious access in patients who have exhausted their venous capital in the forearm and in whom the cephalic vein of the arm is small or damaged. Given its deep location, any puncture of this vein is prohibited before its superficialization, even if it is of good caliber, because it can have dramatic consequences, in particular the loss of the limb or even death.

Catheterization of the internal jugular vein is widely performed by both nephrologists and surgeons. It has become a routine procedure, but can be associated with serious complications. Carotid-jugular arterio-venous fistula (CJAVF) is a rare but potentially fatal complication.

[Multiple aortic and femoral aneurysms: Unusual revelation of Behçet's disease].

Arterial involvement in Behçet's disease is rare, the aortic localization is one of the most severe manifestations of the disease. We present an exceptional case of Behçet's disease revealed by two infrarenal abdominal aorta aneurysms, associated to a femoral artery pseudoaneurysm. The management of aneurysms in Behçet's disease is delicate, and requires the combination of surgical treatment with adjuvant medical drug therapy in order to reduce complications risk.

Vascular involvement in Behçet's disease is rare. Aneurysmal arterial involvement is the severe form of the disease, it constitutes a therapeutic challenge given its severity, and frequent secondary complications, especially at anastomosis. The systematic immunosuppressive drug treatment and surgical technique thoroughness can reduce relapse rate.

[Embolization of splenic artery aneurysms: Treatment of choice. About a case and review of the literature].

Splenic artery aneurysms constitute 60% of digestive artery aneurysms. They are often discovered incidentally and by imaging. Currently, endovascular treatment is considered the first-line treatment, as it is less invasive with less morbidity and mortality than surgery.

[Juxta-anastomotic venous aneurysm of a fistula in the anatomical snuffbox: An atypical location].

Native arteriovenous fistula is the best available vascular access for hemodialysis in end-stage renal failure. It is characterized by higher patency rates and lower rates of morbidity, mortality and complication compared to prosthetic bypass grafts and central venous catheters. Aneurysmal complications remain the main complications of these access with a high risk of rupture and fatal hemorrhage.

Buschke-Lowenstein (BLT) tumor or giant condyloma acuminatum (GCA) is a rare viral disease belonging to the group of verrucous carcinomas; the virus responsible is human papilloma virus (HPV) type 6 and 11 which is transmitted in humans by sexual contact. It is characterized by its extension within the surface layer and at depth, by its degenerative potential and by its recurrent nature after treatment. Therapy is based on surgery.

[Unusual complication of Behcet's disease].

Arterial involvement in Behcet's disease is rare and the tibioperoneal trunk localisation is exceptional. We report the case of a young men with Behcet's disease and in whom the evolution to angiobehcet was unusual. The medical treatment and the therapeutic abstention were decided according to a bundle of argument.

Internal jugular vein aneurysms or phlebectasia of the internal jugular vein are considered a benign pathology. They are more and more diagnosed with the evolution of imaging techniques : ultrasonography, angioscanner and MRI. Clinically they are often by chance, however accompanying clinical signs can be seen such as pain, hoarseness or vocal cord paralysis.

HIV infection has now become a chronic disease with a good life expectancy thanks to antiretrovirals. The mortality currently is attributed to other pathologies in particular cardiovascular because of the inflammation and the side effects of the drugs. All arteries can be damaged in HIV, especially the aorta, with several types of lesions which can be occlusive, aneurysmal, dissecting, even with the cases of arteriovenous fistula which have been described.

[Isolated atrial septal aneurysm: Exceptional cause of digital ischemia - a case report].

An atrial septal aneurysm (ASA) is a rare but well recognized entity characterized by saccular deformity of the atrial septum that bulges into the right or left atrium. Diagnosis can be established using transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. Although this abnormality is considered clinically benign, it has been independently associated with systemic or cerebral embolism.
