Microsurgical resection of primary brain tumors located within or near eloquent areas is challenging. Primary aim is to preserve neurological function, while maximizing the extent of resection (EOR), to optimize long-term neurooncological outcomes and quality of life. Here, we review the combined integration of awake craniotomy and intraoperative MRI (IoMRI) for primary brain tumors, due to their multiple challenges.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been described in patients treated with leflunomide. To assess the association between leflunomide and PH. We identified incident cases of PH in patients treated with leflunomide from the French PH Registry and through the pharmacoVIGIlAnce in Pulmonary ArTerial Hypertension (VIGIAPATH) program between September 1999 to December 2019.

Background: There is a paucity of data regarding mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in distal arterial occlusions (DAO). We aim to evaluate the safety and efficacy of MT in patients with DAO and compare their outcomes with proximal arterial occlusion (PAO) strokes.
Methods: The Trevo Registry was a prospective open-label MT registry including 2008 patients from 76 sites across 12 countries.

Dual-mobility and constrained cups can stabilise most recurrent dislocations of total hip arthroplasty (THA), but may fail in case of hip abductor mechanism loss. For such complex situations, we developed an original artificial iliofemoral and ischiofemoral ligament reconstruction technique using a polyglactin 910 mesh (Vicryl ™) associated to repositioning of a Lefèvre constrained liner adapted to hip range of motion to prevent cam effects. The technique was implemented in 2 patients showing recurrent dislocation after THA, associating total femur replacement and cemented constrained liner in a metal reinforcement ring.

Advanced marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) is an incurable B-cell malignancy dependent on B-cell receptor signaling. The phase 2 PCYC-1121 study demonstrated the safety and efficacy of single-agent ibrutinib 560 mg/d in 63 patients with relapsed/refractory MZL treated with prior rituximab (RTX) or rituximab-based chemoimmunotherapy (RTX-CIT). We report the final analysis of PCYC-1121 with median follow-up of 33.

Trigeminal nerve schwannomas (TS) are uncommon intracranial tumors, frequently presenting with debilitating trigeminal and/or oculomotor nerve dysfunction. While surgical resection has been described, its morbidity and mortality rates are non-negligible. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) has emerged with variable results as a valuable alternative.

Malaria is associated with complicated immunopathogenesis. In this study, we provide evidence for an unexpected role of TLR3 in promoting the establishment of infection through delayed clearance of parasitemia in wild type C57BL/6jRj (B6) compared with TLR3 knockout mice. In this study, we confirmed an increased expression of , , , and in the liver 42 h postinfection and the initiation of an early burst of proinflammatory response such as , , and in B6 mice that may promote parasite fitness.

Objective: To assess the impact of surgical technique in regard to morbidity and mortality after neoadjuvant treatment for esophageal cancer.
Background: The SAKK trial 75/08 was a multicenter phase III trial (NCT01107639) comparing induction chemotherapy followed by chemoradiation and surgery in patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer.
Methods: Patients in the control arm received induction chemotherapy with cisplatin and docetaxel, followed by concomitant chemoradiation therapy with cisplatin, docetaxel, and 45Gy.

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are pentameric ligand-gated ion channels responsible for rapid neural and neuromuscular signal transmission. Although it is well documented that 16 subunits are encoded by the human genome, their presence in airway epithelial cells (AECs) remains poorly understood, and contribution to pathology is mainly discussed in the context of cancer. We analysed nAChR subunit expression in the human lungs of smokers and non-smokers using transcriptomic data for whole-lung tissues, isolated large AECs, and isolated small AECs.

Objective: The objective of these guidelines is to define for women at low obstetric risk modalities that respect the physiology of delivery and guarantee the quality and safety of maternal and newborn care.
Methods: These guidelines were made by a consensus of experts based on an analysis of the scientific literature and the French and international recommendations available on the subject.
Results: It is recommended to conduct a complete initial examination of the woman in labor at admission (consensus agreement).

Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is an innovative technique to explore hilar and mediastinal lymphadenopathy. We aimed to assess its diagnostic accuracy in HIV-infected patients in a tuberculosis low-burden area. A retrospective review was performed of all HIV-infected patients with thoracic lymphadenopathy referred for EBUS-TBNA between January 2012 and January 2019 in 3 Northern French Hospitals.

Introduction: Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are immunoconjugates and comprise a monoclonal antibody that is chemically attached to a cytotoxic drug (or payload) via a stable chemical linker. Since the approval of the first ADC in 2000, there are now nine different approved agents and over 100 ADCs in the drug-development pipeline.
Areas Covered: This review briefly describes the ADCs approved for treatment of lymphoma and their distinguishing factors in terms of target, linker and payload.

Introduction: Guidelines for the treatment of steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome (SDNS) and frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome (FRNS) are lacking. Given the substantial impact of SDNS/FRNS on quality of life, strategies aiming to provide long-term remission while minimising treatment side effects are needed. Several studies confirm that rituximab is effective in preventing early relapses in SDNS/FRNS; however, the long-term relapse rate remains high (~70% at 2 years).

Introduction: Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) secondary to tumors is encountered in up to 6% of patients with facial pain syndromes and is considered to be associated with tumors affecting the trigeminal nerve pathways. The most frequent are meningiomas and vestibular schwannomas (VS). Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) has emerged as a valuable treatment, with heterogeneity of clinical results.

Intracranial radiotherapy has been improved, primarily because of the development of stereotactic approaches. While intracranial stereotactic body radiotherapy is mainly indicated for treatment of benign or malignant tumors, this procedure is also effective in the management of other neurological pathologies; it is delivered using GammaKnife® and linear accelerators. Thus, brain arteriovenous malformations in patients who are likely to experience permanent neurological sequelae can be managed by single session intracranial stereotactic body radiotherapy, or radiosurgery, in specific situations, with an advantageous benefit/risk ratio.

Vascularization is one of the main challenges in bone tissue engineering (BTE). In this study, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), known for its angiogenic effect, was delivered by our developed sponge, derived from a polyelectrolyte complexes hydrogel between chitosan (CHT) and cyclodextrin polymer (PCD). This sponge, as a scaffold for growth factor delivery, was formed by freeze-drying a homogeneous CHT/PCD hydrogel, and thereafter stabilized by a thermal treatment.

Background: We aimed to compare the long-term clinical outcomes, complications, and survival of 2 revision stems with different geometries, extents of coating, and distal-locking mechanisms.
Methods: We retrospectively compared outcomes at a minimum of 7 years following revision THA using 2 proximally coated distal-locking stems: 98 Ultime first-generation (G1) and 116 Linea second-generation (G2) stems. Ten-year Kaplan-Meier survival was assessed considering stem re-revision for any reason and for aseptic reasons.
