Introduction: Previous studies have reported that an elevated plasma homocysteine level is a risk factor for vascular disease. The aim of this study is to determine whether hyperhomocysteinemia is a risk factor for retinal vein occlusion (RVO) and whether it is a prognostic factor.
Patients And Methods: The plasma homocysteine level was measured in 101 patients and compared to the plasma homocysteine level of controls.

In 2 clinical cases of bilateral optic disk oedema, the optic disk oedema was part of a so-called benign, or rather idiopathic, intracranial hypertension. Aetiological investigations were unable to detect any intracranial or systemic anomaly, except the fact that both patients had been on a long-term treatment. The first, a 35-year-old man, was taking Roaccutane (isotretinoin) for acne, for at least 5 years, Supradyne (containing vitamin A) minimum 1 pill per day.

A protocol associating chemoprophylaxis and two-agent flash antibioprophylaxis was performed for more than two years in order to prevent postoperative endophthalmitis in elective open-globe surgery. The aim of this study is to appreciate whether antibiotic therapy is really useful as a complement to chemoprophylaxis. Three successive conjunctival scrapings were performed in the operating room: two before surgery (one before and one after conjunctival disinfection by povidone iodine), and the third one at the end of the operation.

We report the case of an orbital and sphenoidal tuberculosis observed in a young Indian man living in France. The orbital disease is presenting as an orbital mass with a radiologic bony lytic aspect, without systemic manifestation. A malignant process was suspected.

The functional improvement is greater if the operation is carried out when the visual acuity is low but the final result is better if eyes are operated when the visual acuity is still good.
