  • Advances in lymphoma treatment have made assessing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) crucial for newly diagnosed patients, yet there's limited information on their HRQoL profiles at diagnosis.
  • A study involving 3922 adults with various lymphoma types utilized three validated EORTC questionnaires to evaluate HRQoL at diagnosis, achieving high completion rates between 84% and 88%.
  • Findings highlighted significant impairments in global health status across lymphoma subtypes, with factors like gender, performance status, and B symptoms affecting HRQoL, providing valuable insights for future research and clinical practices.

Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is rare in children, and sudden cardiac death (SCD) is difficult to predict. Two prognostic scores - HCM Risk-Kids and Precision Medicine for Cardiomyopathy (PRIMaCY) - were developed to assess the risk of SCD in the next 5 years in children with HCM.

Aims: To test the ability of these scores to predict SCD in children with HCM.

Article Synopsis
  • Real-world data (RWD) are crucial for enhancing clinical trial (CT) findings, but challenges like data quality persist; the REALYSA study, launched in 2018, focuses on newly diagnosed lymphoma patients in France.
  • A proof-of-concept analysis of 645 patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) found high data completeness (<4% missing) and revealed good survival rates, with a median follow-up of 9.9 months showing 1-year event-free survival of 77.9% and overall survival of 90.0%.
  • The study also assessed how well REALYSA's patient outcomes matched those from recent phase 3 trials (POLARIX and SENIOR), demonstrating

Background: The optimal duration of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains to be determined. Treatment durations in cornerstone phase 3 clinical trials vary between a fixed 2-year duration and pursuit until disease progression. Clinical practices may thus differ according to the attending physician.

In France, maternal smoking, active or passive, remains one of the highest in Europe. At the same time, there is an increase in the number of low birth weight (<2500 g) and premature (<37 weeks of amenorrhea) newborns. The objective of this narrative review is to examine the impact of active or passive maternal smoking on birth weight or prematurity rates, and to consider the benefits of policies to stop or control smoking.

View Article and Find Full Text PDF

Introduction: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of cessation of active smoking during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy on the risk of reduced birth weight and prematurity using an exhaled carbon monoxide biomarker with a cut-off value ≥3 ppm as well as the effects of passive smoking.

Methods: This was a multicenter prospective cohort study involving pregnant smokers and non-smokers. Pregnant smokers were identified at the first prenatal visit before 15 weeks of amenorrhea by the number of cigarettes smoked per day and by the carbon monoxide breath test.

The epidemic context of Covid-19 and the containment measures, put in place since 16 March 2020, has significantly increased the number of emergencies calls in call center (SAMU). In the department of Pas-de-Calais, one step of the crisis measures was setting up a psychiatric regulation line, which aims to manage calls with strong emotional valence (in connexion with containment, anxiety related to the epidemic context, or break in psychiatric cares for people suffering of mental disorders). This psychiatric hotline was provided from 20 March 2020 to 15 May 2020 by fifteen psychiatric careers (psychiatrists, psychologists and psychiatric nurses) from the network of the medical-psychological emergency unit (unit of the emergency call center which aims to manage people involved in psychotraumatic events).

[Mitral prolapse and sudden death. A case report].

Ann Cardiol Angeiol (Paris)

November 2020

Service de cardiologie, centre hospitalier d'Arras, groupe hospitalier Artois-Ternois, 3, boulevard Besnier, CS 90006, 62022 Arras cedex, France. Electronic address:

The association between the mitral valve prolapse and the sudden Cardiac Death remains controversial, the high prevalence of this valvulopathy contrasting with the low incidence of sudden death in this population. We report the case of a 54-year-old woman admitted for a sudden cardiac death, revealing a bi-prolapse with low-grade leakage, leading to the implantation of a subcutaneous automatic defibrillator. Combined echocardiography and cardiac MRI can identify the mitral annular disjunction, the rolling motion of the posterior face of the mitral annulus towards the myocardium, and the myocardial fibrosis of the inferolateral wall induced by streching forces of the sub valvular apparatus, that may lead to ventricular arrhythmias.
