Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is the gold standard treatment for aortic stenosis in the elderly. Pre-identification of patients likely to benefit from this procedure remains crucial. A standardised geriatric assessment is used to identify the major geriatric syndromes likely to influence postoperative outcomes.

Background: The impact of the most recent advances, including targeted therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors, on early (3-month) mortality in lung cancer is unknown. The aims of this study were to evaluate the real-world rate of and risk factors for early mortality, as well as trends in early mortality over the last 20 years.
Materials And Methods: The KBP prospective observational multicenter studies have been conducted every 10 years since 2000.

Background: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is rare in children, and sudden cardiac death (SCD) is difficult to predict. Two prognostic scores - HCM Risk-Kids and Precision Medicine for Cardiomyopathy (PRIMaCY) - were developed to assess the risk of SCD in the next 5 years in children with HCM.
Aims: To test the ability of these scores to predict SCD in children with HCM.

Background: The optimal duration of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) treatment for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains to be determined. Treatment durations in cornerstone phase 3 clinical trials vary between a fixed 2-year duration and pursuit until disease progression. Clinical practices may thus differ according to the attending physician.

In France, maternal smoking, active or passive, remains one of the highest in Europe. At the same time, there is an increase in the number of low birth weight (<2500 g) and premature (<37 weeks of amenorrhea) newborns. The objective of this narrative review is to examine the impact of active or passive maternal smoking on birth weight or prematurity rates, and to consider the benefits of policies to stop or control smoking.

Introduction: The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of cessation of active smoking during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy on the risk of reduced birth weight and prematurity using an exhaled carbon monoxide biomarker with a cut-off value ≥3 ppm as well as the effects of passive smoking.
Methods: This was a multicenter prospective cohort study involving pregnant smokers and non-smokers. Pregnant smokers were identified at the first prenatal visit before 15 weeks of amenorrhea by the number of cigarettes smoked per day and by the carbon monoxide breath test.

Background: The generalization of bariatric surgery interventions has led in recent years to an explosion in demand for body contouring surgeries. These operations can be followed by postoperative complications; and residual obesity, defined by a BMI≥30, is traditionally considered as a relative contraindication. The objective is to study the influence of a BMI≥30 on the risk of postoperative complications.

The epidemic context of Covid-19 and the containment measures, put in place since 16 March 2020, has significantly increased the number of emergencies calls in call center (SAMU). In the department of Pas-de-Calais, one step of the crisis measures was setting up a psychiatric regulation line, which aims to manage calls with strong emotional valence (in connexion with containment, anxiety related to the epidemic context, or break in psychiatric cares for people suffering of mental disorders). This psychiatric hotline was provided from 20 March 2020 to 15 May 2020 by fifteen psychiatric careers (psychiatrists, psychologists and psychiatric nurses) from the network of the medical-psychological emergency unit (unit of the emergency call center which aims to manage people involved in psychotraumatic events).

The association between the mitral valve prolapse and the sudden Cardiac Death remains controversial, the high prevalence of this valvulopathy contrasting with the low incidence of sudden death in this population. We report the case of a 54-year-old woman admitted for a sudden cardiac death, revealing a bi-prolapse with low-grade leakage, leading to the implantation of a subcutaneous automatic defibrillator. Combined echocardiography and cardiac MRI can identify the mitral annular disjunction, the rolling motion of the posterior face of the mitral annulus towards the myocardium, and the myocardial fibrosis of the inferolateral wall induced by streching forces of the sub valvular apparatus, that may lead to ventricular arrhythmias.

Autosomal dominant hyper-IgE syndrome (AD-HIES) is typically caused by dominant-negative (DN) STAT3 mutations. Patients suffer from cold staphylococcal lesions and mucocutaneous candidiasis, severe allergy, and skeletal abnormalities. We report 12 patients from 8 unrelated kindreds with AD-HIES due to DN IL6ST mutations.

Lenalidomide maintenance therapy prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) versus placebo in elderly patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) responding to induction chemotherapy in the phase 3 REMARC study. This subpopulation analysis assessed the impact of lenalidomide maintenance and treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Global health status (GHS), and physical functioning and fatigue subscales were evaluated in patients who completed the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality-of-life questionnaire-C30 v3.

It includes, among others, absence of psychological (anxio-depressive) symptoms, perceived positive work conditions (environment and organization), happiness and good quality of life at work. Many studies have shown that social support and control at work protect mental health while high job demands and effort-reward imbalance are risk factors for anxiety and depression.
