Community-acquired respiratory viral infections (CARV) significantly impact patients with hematological malignancies (HM), leading to high morbidity and mortality. However, large-scale, real-world data on CARV in these patients is limited. This study analyzed data from the EPICOVIDEHA-EPIFLUEHA registry, focusing on patients with HM diagnosed with CARV during the 2023-2024 autumn-winter season.

This case report presents a unique instance of a prosthetic neck fracture in an 81-year-old male with a CERAVER CERAFIT titanium (Ti6Al4V) femoral implant paired with a ceramic-on-ceramic total hip replacement. No fractures of the neck of a titanium femoral stem coated with hydroxy-apatite have been reported in the literature for this type of implant. The patient experienced a sudden, non-traumatic fracture, many years after his primary surgery.

Objectives: Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA) is a common causative pathogen of pneumonia acquired in the intensive care unit (ICU). The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of PA ICU pneumonia (PAIP) and to quantify its independent association with PA colonization at different body sites.
Methods: Adult patients on mechanical ventilation at ICU admission were prospectively enrolled across 30 European ICUs.

Background: Congenital ichthyoses (CI) comprise a heterogeneous group of genetic diseases requiring lifelong treatment and having a major effect on quality of life. Conventional treatments reduce scaling and skin discomfort; however, they usually have little or no effect on erythema and pruritus. The identification of cytokine alterations in CI raised the possibility of repurposing available biologics.

Introduction: Physical restraint (PR) is prescribed in patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU) to avoid unplanned removal of medical devices. However, it is associated with an increased risk of delirium. We hypothesise that a restrictive use of PR, as compared with a systematic use, could reduce the duration of delirium in ICU patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation.

Accurate prediction of survival in patients with cirrhosis is crucial, as patients who are unlikely to survive in the short-term need to be oriented to liver transplantation and to novel therapeutic approaches. Patients with acute decompensation of cirrhosis without or with organ dysfunction/failure, the so-called acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), have a particularly high short-term mortality. Recognizing the specificity of this clinical situation, dedicated classifications and scores have been developed over the last 15 years, including variables (e.

Background: The HOME-CoV (Hospitalisation or Outpatient ManagEment of patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection) score is a validated list of uniquely clinical criteria indicating which patients with probable or proven COVID-19 can be treated at home. The aim of this study was to optimise the score to improve its ability to discriminate between patients who do and do not need admission.
Methods: A revised HOME-CoV score was derived using data from a previous prospective multicentre study which evaluated the original Home-CoV score.

Background: Endotracheal tube fixation in ventilated patients must be appropriate to ensure security during mechanical ventilation and prevent skin lesions. The incidence of endotracheal tube-caused pressure ulcers ranges from 7% to 45%. Various endotracheal tube fixations are used in intensive care units (ICUs) worldwide.

Introduction: Primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) is the presence of air in the pleural space, occurring in the absence of trauma and known lung disease. Standardized expert guidelines on PSP are needed due to the variety of diagnostic methods, therapeutic strategies and medical and surgical disciplines involved in its management.
Methods: Literature review, analysis of the literature according to the GRADE (Grading of Recommendation, Assessment, Development and Evaluation) methodology; proposals for guidelines rated by experts, patients and organizers to reach a consensus.

Introduction: The use of complementary therapies within oncology is a clinical issue, and their evaluation a methodological challenge. This paper reports the findings of a qualitative study exploring the lived experience of a French program of complementary therapies combining structured physical activity and MBSR among women with breast cancer.
Methods: This French exploratory qualitative study followed the five stages of the Inductive Process to analyze the Structure of lived Experience (IPSE) approach.

Purpose: To report a case of torpedo maculopathy (TM) in an elderly patient complicated by choroidal neovascularization (CNV) and that was treated by intravitreal aflibercept injections and monitored during 30 months using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography.
Methods: A 74-year-old woman complained of a metamorphopsia in the left eye. Visual acuity was 20/25 while fundus examination showed a hypopigmented torpedo-shaped chorioretinal lesion in the temporal macula associated with a retinal exudation.

Background: COVID-19-related acute respiratory distress syndrome (CARDS) is a severe evolution of the Sars-Cov-2 infection and necessitates intensive care. COVID-19 may subsequently be associated with long COVID, whose symptoms can include persistent respiratory symptoms up to 1 year later. Rehabilitation is currently recommended by most guidelines for people with this condition.

Background: A written action plan (WAP) for managing asthma exacerbations is recommended.
Objective: We aimed to compare the effect on unscheduled medical contacts (UMCs) of a digital action plan (DAP) accessed via a smartphone web app combined with a WAP on paper versus that of the same WAP alone.
Methods: This randomized, unblinded, multicenter (offline recruitment in private offices and public hospitals), and parallel-group trial included children (aged 6-12 years) or adults (aged 18-60 years) with asthma who had experienced at least 1 severe exacerbation in the previous year.
