Objective: This meta-analysis was conducted to compare anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) with transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) in terms of postoperative complications, improvement in radiographic parameters, and patient-reported outcomes.
Methods: PubMed, Cochrane, and Google Scholar (pages 1-20) databases were searched up to June 2023. The studied outcomes were the rate of rod failures, rod failures requiring revision surgery, all complications, all revision surgeries, the change in pelvic tilt, sacral slope, Cobb angle, lumbar lordosis (LL), sagittal vertical axis, the postoperative pelvic incidence-LL, and LL, and the improvement in back pain and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI).

Background And Aims: We assessed the activity of galunisertib, a small molecule inhibitor of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β1) receptor I, in second-line patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in two cohorts of baseline serum alpha fetoprotein (AFP).
Methods: Patients with advanced HCC who progressed on or were ineligible to receive sorafenib, Child-Pugh A/B7 and ECOG PS ≤1 were enrolled into Part A (AFP ≥ 1.5× ULN) or Part B (AFP < 1.

Purpose: To compare the efficacy of two cyclodestructive treatments for refractory glaucoma: High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) cyclocoagulation and transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation (cyclodiode).
Methods: A retrospective comparative single centre study including all patients who underwent cyclodestruction for refractory glaucoma by either HIFU cyclocoagulation or cyclodiode. "Refractory glaucoma" was defined as an uncontrolled high IOP despite medical treatment and at least one filtering surgery.

Thoracolumbar vertebral fracture incidents usually occur secondary to a high velocity trauma in young patients and to minor trauma or spontaneously in older people.Osteoporotic vertebral fractures are the most common osteoporotic fractures and affect one-fifth of the osteoporotic population.Percutaneous fixation by 'vertebroplasty' is a tempting alternative for open surgical management of these fractures.

Ophthalmology department, Institut du glaucome, university Paris-Descartes, centre hospitalier Paris-Saint-Joseph, 185, rue Raymond-Losserand, 75674 Paris cedex 14, France.
Purpose: Evaluation of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) transscleral cyclocoagulation as an alternative to trabeculectomy in the treatment of refractory chronic angle closure glaucoma (CACG).
Methods: This prospective one armed single center pilot study was conducted on patients with medically uncontrolled CACG who underwent high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) cyclocoagulation as first line surgical treatment, using the Eye-OP1 HIFU device (Eyetechcare-Rillieux-la-Pape, France) driven by ultrasound biomicroscopic (UBM) ciliary body localization. All patients had documented progression of their glaucoma despite conventional medical and laser therapy.

Posterior wall with transverse acetabular fractures represents the most common type of acetabular fractures and is generally associated with poorer outcomes.
